Isn’t the government working diligently to squash these ostentatious abominations? I thought I had read that somewhere…
Also: Didn’t the last gold car get repossessed (or possessed) by the government for not having a license? I guess this person thinks the law can’t touch them as well.

But if he gilded his Audi, it’d be gold, not silver. He could have silvered his Audi, though:

Yeah it’s gauche and all that but, honestly, has anyone ever seen a good gold paintjob? At least this is correct. Gold is not a reproducible colour without using real gold.
You’re right, it’s almost impossible to achieve the look of true metallic gold without plating. I suppose you could replace the aluminum or bronze flake in metallic paint with gold powder but you might end up using more gold than if you plated it. Speaking of cool metallic finishes. David Kirkham of Kirkham Motorsports (they’re the folks who source their aluminum Cobra bodies – that they sell to Shelby American, btw – in a former MIG factory in Poland) made one bronze and one copper Cobra:

It depends on who u know, in Middle Kingdom, some of these folks do have enormous amount of clout, and they’re sure above the law!
They can almost re-write the law to their advantage.
