In case you need a car to race at the Le Mans 24 Hours, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Le Mans Series, the American Le Mans Series, the International GT Open and others, Porsche suggests to consider its heavily reworked Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.
Based on the street-legal 997 type 911 GT3 RS, this pure racer has grown 48 millimeters wider. Its six-cylinder, 4 liters boxer engine produces 460 hp (338 kW). It’s good for a little more, but to conform with the regs, it is hobbled by a mandatory air restrictor. Of course, the sequential six-speed gearbox is operated via paddle shifts on the steering wheel.
Your team can take delivery of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR beginning in January 2012, early enough to get some testing done. Your bank account will be impacted by 498,000 Euro ($687,000) tax.
Why do they call it grass roots racing? Because you need a lot of green.

DAT ASS
Don’t understand why these things should be this expensive though. Especially since after you do Le Mans you’ll probably have to revise/replace a lot of the parts anyway…And within a year or two, maybe three, these 997s will only win you races in the 24H of the nurburgring or Dubai instead of Le Mans, Daytona or Sebring.
Apparently these beasts do tend to maintain some value though:

That 997 near the bottom of the page might be a steal for the ‘gentleman driver’ (aka amateur racer).
Yay, another Porsche I won’t be able to use in Forza Motorsport 4!
