What you see before you will be the best-selling Porsche 911. It is sad but true: in the watercooled era, the convertible has generally outsold the coupe. For that reason alone, Porsche was eager to introduce a droptop 991. Add all-wheel-drive and a PDK transmission, and you have a sickening parody of Butzi Porsche’s original 901 concept a great way for high-net-worth people to get to their yoga lessons.

So cruel! So true!
Jack,
It’s hard for me to read your Porsche articles these days without expecting an undertone of smart-ass cynicism of the brand. Mission accomplished?
Or for surfers to get to the beach….. Or, this will probably really make you puke, for people who don’t even surf, stick a surfboard out the back; so they can simultaneously pose as drivers, surfers and well off; all while doing nothing more exciting than wasting gas on the way to some corporate drone office…..:)
Tell us, Jack, which is the better choice for those aspiring to one of the above; the upcoming M6 ‘vert, or some 911 permutation?
Yea, if only Porsche had stuck with 1960’s technology huh? Oh, wait, that’s utterly moronic. Give it up Jack, the PDK is here to stay! I suggest you say it in German and learn to have a little fun with it like … “Ack, miene PDK hast cut off miene ear!”
JTD
Porsche does still sell a car that carries on the ’60s-’70s 911 concept (minus air cooling)… they just call it Cayman now.
Actually, it’s the GT3.
I confess! I own a water-cooled 911 C4 AND a Cayenne S! What should I do with these worthless shreds? My shame is too much to bear.
I believe the proper term is “high-net-worth individuals.” “People” went out of style right around the end of the air-cooled era.
Gawd in Heaven, Jack….your going to HURT yourself HOLDING BACK like this.
Seriously, though. I expected to see YOU in the picture, in the driver’s seat….
ॐ Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I promise to hold out for a Porsche until JB purchases one.
Is this another new Porsche? As usual, I can’t tell if it’s new, 2 yrs old or 8 yrs old.
