China has become famous for its golden and pink cars. Now, there is some kind of a backlash. Or maybe word of Jack Baruth’s lime green Audi S5 has reached China? Can’t possibly drive an Audi S5 in gold, pink, or lime green in China after Jack’s frog-colored Audi was flogged on eBay. Even China has some standards. Instead of Audis in garish colors, there now are black and white Audis. “So what?” you say. I said black and white Audis.
Carnewschina brings us the story of the black-and-white Audi S5 Coupe. Black (matte black) on one side. White on the other. The perfect car to perpetrate crimes with, and to confuse witnesses.
The canvass for that Jackson-Pollock-on-wheels does not come cheap. Carnewschina informs us that the S5 Coupe costs 728.000 yuan in China. That’s $115,000. And some still claim that the Chinese currency is undervalued …

That was my first thought after seeing the second pic.
So Harvey “Two-Face” Dent has moved to China? Quick, signal the Batman!
Would like it much better if it was a Harley Quinn paint scheme: http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/213264.aspx
I’d prefer her draped across the car. ;)
Yin and Yang, I guess.
I saw a Panamera in La Jolla the other day, a very similiar green to Jack’s S5. Really didn’t look bad, popped nicely among all the white, silver, and gray Audis, Mercedes, and Bimmers.
i’m suddenly craving a black-and-white cookie
Wasn’t there a Classic Seinfeld episode about cookies like this?
Wasn’t there a Classic Trek episode about people like this?
Star Trek: The Original Series Episode: ‘Let That Be Your Last Battlefield’
The characters with Half-black/Half-white faces were ‘Lokai’ and ‘Bele’
From Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mot the Barber is similar (with a center line along the face), but the two sides are of the same colour
Somewhere there’s GOT to be another nearly identical Audi, with the Black on the left and the White on the right…..
But what would be REALLY cool is if the Interior is done the same way…right down to the carpet.
Somehow, I don’t think this is QUITE what Jack Webb meant, when he said, “Better roll some black and whites to that crime scene.”
lol $115,000 is nothing compared to its price in Australia. We’re looking at US$160,000 for the S5! We can barely get the 3.2FSI Quattro for $115,000.
Well, I’ve been bemoaning the disappearance of two tone cars, but I meant horizontally, not vertically. The Audi looks like it has an ideal break for an upper and lower contrasting paint scheme…
Someone paints a car, and it’s big news? Imagine the buzz if someone replicated a whole car from scratch in their warehouse….
if this trend means we have to hear one less time about Baruth’s hideous S5, then it’s a good thing ;)
The car in the second picture has four doors.
And the colours reversed compared to the first / third one(s?).
