In case you did not get your tickets to the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, held at the Lake Como in Italy, or if you did not want to trade barbecue for bietole, there is a monster gallery of the Zagato Coupe after the jump.
Zagato is the only automotive body manufacturer still in independent ownership. The car is a one-off, but it is reassuring to know that it is street-legal.
Neither motor nor money were mentioned.
If you want to know more, the press release in all its wordiness can be found here.

Reminds me of the M Coupe.
The is VERY reminiscent of the 2nd generation M Coupe, except that the 2nd generation M Coupe was better looking. This effort looks bloated and jellybean-ish compared to the M Coupe. The Zagato double bubble roof is, as always, a cool feature, but the M coupe also had that.
This is a one-off, which means that some oil rich person in the Middle East will HAVE to have it, but the 2nd generation Z4 coupe is a Playboy Playmate compared to this Penthouse Pet.
Amoung current cars the Audi A7 does these same basic lines better.
this car is all that different anyways.
perhaps can argue there ain’t too many of these around.
I feel bad for you son, you got 99 problems and ugly is one.
I like the way they incorporated the hockey stick belt-line from the Gremlin.

This is like a Viper for those who don’t feel the need to stuff a sock in their pants…beautiful.
I wish that cliche would get retired.
Very gorgeous, love the back end on it a lot. The small Z’s in the grill are a nice touch, but I always found this type of “over-branding” on a car with the logos or model type a bit tacky (ie: seat stitching, dashboard logos, etc).
“Unobtainable As A Penthouse Pet”
Most Pets are obtainable. Almost all do escort work. They just charge more. So if you have a few grand laying around…have at it.
Doesn’t do much for me.
Do not want.
This is what the E89 Z4 Coupe should have been, if they had decided to build one.
Not bad from the front, but the rear is a mess.
Which were you refering to ? Oh- oh- oh ! You mean the car…
No thanks, I’ll take an Alfa Tubolare Zagato
wow – how do you make a no expenses spared 2 seater a sexless waste of metal – quite an accomplishment. I’m tempted to blame zagato – who should have hung it up long ago – but this really seems to be BMW’s modus operandi.
“Zagato is the only automotive body manufacturer still in independent ownership.”
I’m not sure why you would think this but it is most certainly not true. It is wrong on two counts, firstly there are plenty of other Body in White manufacturers such as Stadco, Budd Thyssen, Magna-Steyr etc.
Secondly Zagato are by no means independent, being owned as they are by Coventry Prototype Panels – Evisage.
Did you mean being independent of a Major Automotive Manufacturer? Or self owned. Either way the statement isn’t accurate.
It ain’t ugly and it ain’t pretty, but, it is wrinkled. The Honda Accord of designer sports cars.
Looks pretty good to me, and a lot better than any current or recent vintage BMW. Reminded me of the Shelby Daytona:

That’s not the Shelby Daytona you’re thinking of.
