In case you have surplus cash sitting around, doing absolutely nothing, hang on to it until the end of 2013. This is when Porsche finally wants to crank up production of its Über-Porsche, the 918 Spyder. Porsche has finished the initial prototypes, which are cleverly camouflaged: If you see something whizzing by, and you think to yourself: “This looked just like a Porsche 917 race car,” then you actually saw a 918 in drag.
If you haven’t heard already, the 918 is is designed as a plug-in hybrid vehicle combining a high-performance combustion engine with electric motors. The car is built as full carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque with unit carrier, has fully adaptive aerodynamics, adaptive rear-axle steering and the upward-venting “top pipes” exhaust system.

So how much cash are we going to need, or is that a secret still?
D
Nope. Not for me. $850k. Feed the poor.
That $850K isn’t just burned. When it was new I was telling a cousin about the Enzo and that it cost $600K. She said, “they could be feeding people with that $600K”. I told her, “They are feeding people, they’re called Ferrari employees.”
Thought the big deal with these was that the run was pre-sold, and came with a special edition GT2… If Porsche is serious and looking to (admittedly small) mass-market these… woo!
That was a special edition Turbo.
For celebrating.
If I had the means, I would take one WITH that camouflage!
I used to think we should spend major money to feed to poor, then I saw a gothic Cathedral in Europe and thought about all the poor the resources spent on the Cathedral could have fed. Then I realized they would still be dead, and the Cathedral wouldn’t be built…
Could someone make some decals and body kit pieces for my Cayman? Then I could have that terrific look *and* the entertainment of a stick shift.
How long before they start appearing on wreckedexotics.com?
