That’s the reason why the Renault Duster took the market by storm when it was launched last month. After China, the Indian car market is said to have the most potential. Naturally car makers are rushing to India, launching all they could to satisfy the growing need of personal transport. But what happens if you want something more than whats on offer?
Enter the E-Class Limousine. No, this is no official E-Class limo, but an after market job. The owner wanted more space and got the car lengthened by around four feet. The 6-seater E-Class has a 3.0L, V6 diesel engine. No other changes have been made except the increase in length and addition of more creature comforts for rear seat occupants. Given the state of Indian roads, maneuvering such a vehicle in traffic is truly a challenge.
This particular aftermarket job on the E-Class cost the owner around $40,000. The owner could definitely opt for the S-Class if he wanted the best in comfort from the Mercedes stable. I think it looks out of proportion.

Strange, isn’t this a bit more expensive than the S-Class? Since the S-Class can be ordered with a diesel, I’m a bit of a loss as to why this was done.

Yes, but you only have to pay the crazy 200% tax on the cost of E-class, which puts you way ahead. It’s India, my friend.
The S-Class retails for almost similar amount for the base diesel variant with the very same engine as the above E.
Calling that thing beautiful would be a stretch.
They did that to w115 model during the 70s stretched w115 with 200 or 220d, seen many of them in hong kong middle kingdom. not long ago saw one in vancouver too.
