Renault has re-badged the Nissan Sunny and named it Scala for the Indian market. The French automaker is conducting media drives in Himachal Pradesh right now, where more details of the car have been disclosed. Mechanically, the Scala is a carbon copy of the Sunny. The design changes were done by Renault’s design center in Mumbai.
Renault will launch the Scala in the first week of September. The car will be priced at a slight premium over the Sunny to prevent cannibalization. The same 1.5-litre diesel (86 PS, 200 Nm) and 1.5-litre gasoline (99 PS, 134 Nm) engines will be offered. For a comparison of Scala and Sunny, see the story in Motorbeam.

Hideous. And still looks a lot better than half of Renault’s current lineup.
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid called. They want their gaping grille back.
How does the Sunny compare to a Sentra?
Sunny/Scala = Versa sedan. A class or so smaller than the Sentra.
Scala. Sounds like a skin disease.
Scala. Sounds like a skin disease.
Politer I’ll bet than Ford Tudor sounded in India.
Are Scala 1.5 multi valve with CVT option? Would be surprised.
Any more news on NA new Versa hatch & Sentra?
1.5-litre, 99 PS petrol engine is just about average. CVT coming too but nothing to talk about.
Typical French charm and elegance.
