Nissan makes 90 percent of all Muranos in Japan, but 70 percent of them get exported to the United States. Making them Stateside should be a no brainer, right?
With Nissan attempting to move as much production as possible out of Japan, the Murano looks like a prime candidate for Stateside production Automotive News is reporting that the Murano will join its platform-mates the Altima and Maxima, as well as the Rogue, at Nissan’s Smyrna, TN plant. The changeover will happen when the next-gen car arrives in 2014.

Hopefully US Customs will block the dies for the cabrio as so ugly they must be toxic.
I daresay that whoever was responsible for the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is kicking him/herself. At the same time, I can see what the powers-that-be might have been thinking. They thought, “We have this wonderful, stylish crossover that women (and men) are buying left and right. Let’s see if we can milk some more money from this well-to-do crowd by offering them an upscale novelty vehicle and pricing it sky-high.” I actually kind of like the convertible, but it has a price that is well into Infiniti territory and poses too many compromises over its fixed-roof alternative AND a comparably-priced Infiniti. Let’s face it–the CrossCabriolet is a flop. Nissan would have done well to invest that money into its aging Armada and Titan products, or perhaps they could have used it to make the Quest look like less of a Dustbuster…
I highly doubt the CrossCabriolet will see another generation.
Just the cabrio is ugly????? ‘Murano’ must mean ‘ugly’ in Italian.
An ugly convertible SUV? So many chances to anger so many people at once.
They should build it here, that’s a no brainer with the sky high yen right now. As for the Murano vert, buyers should probably just buy a G37 vert since it’ll probably be cheaper, and it’s a lot less ugly.
Next up, Nissan buys Tennessee in order to further expand the Smyrna plant.
Except everyone buys one BECAUSE it’s Made in Japan.
