Smart asked fashion designer Jeremy Scott to come up with a special version of the smart fortwo electric car. Much to the horror of Daimler engineers who were used to fashion designers submitting patches of interior materials and color schemes, Jeremy Scott did put his trademark on the car: Wings, sprouting on both sides, and likely wreaking havoc with the CW coefficient.
The smart forjeremy is based on the current production version of the smart fortwo electric drive. With its 55 kW electric motor the smart fortwo electric drive accelerates from 0 – 60 km/h in 4.8 seconds, for a maximum speed of 125 km/h. The 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery enables the urban two-seater to travel approximately 145 kilometers in city traffic.
“We will launch a limited special edition of the smart forjeremy in 2013″, promises Dr. Annette Winkler, Head of smart.
But will it keep the wings?
Won’t keep the wings because they’re absurd. However, if you toned those down, and sort of “folded” the winged-slats all the way up the C-pillars, it would create a cool effect.
Lose the wings, keep the slit brake lights, and it would be a nice update
Actually, I think someone may be able to design wings for this stubby car that act as spoilers that improve the Cd.
I can’t take Smart seriously as a car–to me it’s a toy, and a toy is something to have fun with. These wings are completely silly and perfect for the car.

smart, how could you be so stupid as to hire a fashion designer to produce such a joke?
They should have paid him for his services and then not shown the car – it’s embarrassing, and does nothing to help their meager sales. It only reinforces the cartoonish notion most people have about smart. In this case, more press isn’t good press.
