The world’s largest car market, China, has recovered a bit in November. Automobile sales were up 8.16 percent year-on-year to 1.79 million vehicles, production stood at 1.76 million units, up 3.92 percent, data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows.

Sales of passenger vehicles were 1.46 million units, up 8.75 percent year-on-year. Commercial vehicles , up 5.59 percent to 329,700 units, show signs of life. Sales of commercial vehicles, seen as a leading indicator for the economy, have mostly been weak throughout the year. A rebounding commercial market is especially important for GM. More than half of its sales in China consist of low cost Wuling delivery vans.  However, Wuling’s sales were down 0.5 percent in November.

January through November, car sales in China are up a meek 4.03% to 17,493,200 units.
