As you may (or may not) have noticed, there was an issue on TTAC where people would get only an old copy of TTAC. They received the new version once they logged on. Or maybe it was the other way around. Our technical team got right on it, and it seems they fixed it. I am asking your help to make sure that the problem indeed has been fixed.
The technical team’s work was made very hard due to the fact that the problem was unobservable by them. I also could not reproduce the problem on my computer, and neither could Derek. Other TTAC editors, such as Alex Dykes, saw the problem. It is not easy to fix what one cannot see.
- Please reply whether you still see the problem, or you don’t.
- Please include your browser and operating system (for instance: “Chrome 26/Windows 7”).
- Please report only on problems you see from today, Saturday, May 4th 2013 on out.
- Please do not report on problems you saw before that date.
(Of course, if the problem is still out there, those of you who have it and who have not logged on will not see this story, but we do whatever we can ….)

It’s just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right. Put your hands on your hips, you bring your knees in tight, but it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane.
Hasn’t happened to me yet.
“My name is Bertel Schmitt, I had an accident and I keep waking up on May 1st. Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever’s happened, it’s like I’ve landed on a different TTAC. Maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home…”
Oh, so that was the issue I was having with my iPhone, I noticed it wasn’t loading the new page, but just got tired of trying, my computer(s) on the other hand never pulled up the old page for me
Windows 7 64bt, ie 10 (x2)
Windows Vista 64bt ie10 (x1)
No problems
iphone 4s now works fine, just tried.
EDIT: Also I never saw the weird characters on any of my devices.
I’m on chrome now and was on my android based tablet a while ago and am having no problems. There are no more weird characters. I am also seeing a current page when I arrive at the site before logging in.
i never had a problem with old pages showing up possibly in part because i am always logged in.
i did see the odd characters yesterday but they were confined to non-letters, non-numerical characters, i.e. *, “, ‘ etc.
windows 7
64 bit
ive given up on using the android (Droid X2 Verizon) it takes too long to load, occasionally freezes, and most annoyingly jumps all around as the various ads load.
iOS 6.1 on Safari is good here.
i’m going to try again, this will now be the 4th time I have posted a comment. so the other 3 never appeared.
i did have the time warp issue on OSX 10.6.8
no problem today with IE10/Win7
I visited this morning, and saw the 2 new articles for today without logging in.
XP Pro/Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m on the main computer, Win7HP/Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m on the secondary machine.
No problem for me today.
HP TouchPad
WebOS 3.0.5
No problems today.
Win 7
Firefox.
I was not logged in but see all current articles
Firefox Windows 8
Everything seems to be ok here too.
Firefox
Win Vista
Did not see these two articles earlier this morning; but they are there now. No more strange characters when reading on my iphone (at least not on the screen.) ;)
Logged in Windows XP, IE8
Not logged in with iphone, Safari – same results
Everything’s good now. Win7 64-bit, Firefox 20.0.1
Firefox 20.0.2/Windows 8. I saw the new articles without having to log in.
I do not see the problem anymore logged in or not. Previously I saw it while not logged in; I did not try logging in when I saw the issue.
Windows 7 + IE8
Windows Vista + IE9
Related note:
I have an RSS feed on my Yahoo! home page. It continued to properly list new articles even when navigating to https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com did not show them. I was able to view new content via those RSS links.
I don’t think I was logged on either at home or work but neither updated from early 5/1 until mid day yesterday when everything randomly showed up. I thought TTAC was shut down for the day.
I run IE 7? at work and up to date Firefox at home.
I never saw any strange characters.
I had the exact same scenario and timing with Windows 7Pro and Firefox browser.
Problem is fixed for me (and I did experience it several times) on two systems:
Windows 7 x64
Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 as well as Firefox 20.0.1
Proxy servers issue?
Problem fixed for me.
Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m
Windows 8.
Bertel, the weird characters incident hasn’t been resolved yet. While searching up the TTAC Top Troll Poll on-site, I found weird characters for the announcement result (first result). Otherwise, everything has been fine (so far).
(Using IOS 6.1.3. On Google search app [not chrome or safari])
Regards,
Mr, Edward Mann
No problems observed. Win 7 32-bit; Firefox 20.0.1
All good now. OS 10.7.5, Firefox 20.0.
Win XP with Opera v12.15. Experienced what problem?
Had the problem the last few days, on Win7/Firefox. Could only see the updates when following a link from TTAC’s twitter account. There were like two worlds: the one accessible from the home page, and the one from twitter.
Even pages I commented on the May 2nd were reverted to May 1st version…
No problem seeing the posts today. Using Windows 7/Firefox. Did not see any updates on May 2nd however, but I did not log in that day.
Have not seen any problems lately.
Windows 7, Chrome version 26.0.1410.64 m
I had problems getting the latest version of web site from Safari on iPhone couple of days ago.
If this is not the last thing posted at this time, then I am having trouble. IE10/Win7 I am only seeing 2 postings on 5/4/13.
I had the issue on my android phone from the 1st to the 3rd. I didn’t log in but everytime I visited the site from the 2nd till mid-day friday only the articles from the 1st and back would show.
Yesterday (3rd) evening (after 7 PM, I think) , not logged in, there seemed to be nothing new posted. Figured you were taking the evening off.
Today seems fine.
O/S:
Windows 7 Enterprise, 64 bit. Help|About says:
Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
Browser:
Firefox version 20.0.1
EDIT: Quick check, only this story and Murilee’s story on old trucks are new, as far as I can remember….
I was wondering what was going on! Looks good now with Firefox 20.0.1 and Win7Pro.
This was most traumatic for me. You can imagine logging onto TTAC and finding the lead post concerned Henry Ford II reporting that he’d hired Ernest Breech away from GM. If it helps, this problem was evident in numerous sites: YAHOO was reporting that Lyndon Johnson wasn’t going to run for a second term.
I’m still living in the past so I’m afraid I can’t help out with this.
Older Droid 2.2 on my phone, no warp problems. However I have occasionally seen articles disappear and later reappear. I’ll see a title of something in the morning, make a mental note to read it later, and then it’s gone. Only to see it pop back up the next day. This doesn’t happen often, and was never sure if it was a server issue or editorial decision.
As of right now, this thread (“We Are Asking For Your Help On The TTAC Time-Warp Problem”) is at the top of the front page, even though I see from the RSS feed that “Down On the Farm: The General’s Troops Wait For Orders In Wisconsin” has been posted afterwards.
I use Windows 8, and have tested with Firefox 20 and IE 10.
Android 4.1.2 and Opera 12.1.4 on a couple of devices seems to be fine. Also Ubuntu 13.04 with Firefox 20.0 and Chromium 25.0.1364.160.
issue has gone, IE10/Win7 64bit
Problem is still here this morning. TTAC came up on an old screen, updated when I refreshed it.
Windows 7, Version 6.1(Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
Firefox 20.0.1
Problem still here. Win8, Chrome26.0.1410.64m
No problem here.
Win 8, Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m
Still doing it Sun May 5, logged in or out, using Win7/Firefox. Also doing it on Safari/iPhone 4s
Is this time warp shit preventing new material during the weekend?
This article is the newest one I’m seeing, both before logging in and after. FreeBSD 9.1, Firefox 20.0
I had the timewarp happen to me Friday/Saturday on work computer (chrome & firefox), home computer (chrome, IE, firefox) and iOS Safari.
Mac OS 10.6.8, Firefox 20.0.
Problem is gone.
ATTENTION!!!! Achtung!!! New weird behavior registered!!! 2am Brazil time the last two times i logged on, instead of going directly to the page i was logging on to to comment, i am sent to the ‘dashboard’ page.
Happened on my notebook and cell phone. Windows 7, IE and Nokia N8 for which i don’t know what system. It is whichever one came with it.
Today about noon, logged on again. Problem gone.
Not fixed. Monday, 6:31 a.m., People’s Republic of New Jersey. Safari on a Mac.
I’ve had the problem all weekend. I’m using Safari and Chrome on Mac OS X 10.8.3
Can’t see any new articles today. I’m running Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002; browser is Chrome v26.0.1410.64
Still running Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m on both XP Pro and 7 Home Pro; I have not seen any articles past the S-class brochure post on the 10th.
On an entirely separate network, Dolphin Browser 9.4.1 running on Android 4.0.4 shows the S-class entry. Switching back to the house IP via wifi shows no new articles since then.
