Fiat launched a seven-seat version of its Fiat 500, a car that used to be known for its cramped space in the original model. Called the 500L Living (as in Living Room …), the seven seater “is about a meter longer than the classic 500,” writes Reuters.

The car gained 20 centimeters on the Fiat 500L, on which it is based. The MPW is “essentially a stretched version of the 500L,” writes Autoexpress. “That allowed engineers to squeeze in a third row of seats, but don’t expect acres of space back there.”
Other expectations are pretty big: “We expect to sell about 20,000 to 30,000 of them in Europe in the next 12 months,” Gianluca Italia, Fiat brand chief for Europe, Middle East and Africa, told Reuters.

I’m very afraid now that they’ll use this for the upcoming micro-Jeep and ruin everything.
They ARE using the 500L platform for the mini-Jeep.
Yes, I know. But hopefuly they keep the wheelbase in check.
Ruin what? The incredible ability of the Patriot? They can do far worse.
I got to play with a 500L at the auto show…. Not a bad piece of kit for the price.
Great sight lines…
The British are coming! No, wait… it’s some fat Italians.
It’s the Counterfeit Mini Cooper commercials come to life.
“it’s some fat Italians.”
Any women?
Just my wife! (Ba-Da-Bump!)
Uomo fortunato.
Blessing and a curse my friend. She is also Sicilian.
Holy God, my brother married a Sicilian.
Nuff said.
Clearly, this is aimed at the MINI Countryman.
What I’m thinking, Italians say best with their hands.
The L is now on the ground at my local dealer – hideous. This version actually looks a little better to me.
The FIAT 500L doesn’t really look different from a lot of other MPVs in Europe, but I think that Americans will be averse to the styling, which did not translate well from the FIAT 500. Also, that “style” will probably have a steep price that makes roomier cars like the Pathfinder, Pilot and Highlander look like much better propositions.
Add a transfer case and a lift kit, and hello Colt Vista Wagon II.
Fiat does sell a 4WD Panda, no way they couldn’t adapt the Panda system for the 500L.
I believe what you have here is the Fiat 500XL. The 500L is only 2 row 5 passenger, the 500XL is 6 inches longer to accommodate the 3rd row and is NOT destined for the US. The 500L 2 row is US bound
The XL would’ve been looked at seriously by my wife if it was here last year…she is happy with what she chose (Mazda5), but what she wanted was a third row of seating in something smaller and cheaper than an SUV. She can’t be the only one with that concern; I’d bet they could sell a decent number of XL’s in the States.
Know what? If the roll-up ads on the pictures don’t stop I’m leaving. This time I mean it.
This is the 500XL. The 500L that is being introduced here in the states, some dealers already have a few, is the shorter 5 seater. I don’t think we will be getting the 500XL here in the states though it would be competitive especially for folks who have old Colt Vista’s(Click and Clack) and Nissan Stanza’s to trade in. I had wished they also produced for the states a longer 500, a shooting brake so to speak like this:

A competitor to the Mini Clubman.
…This is supposed to remind me of a 2-cylinder air cooled microcar, right?
I know a number of families with three kids, and having three kids really does limit the car choices beyond a minivan. However I’d still have concern about putting a lot of kids in a small car. I’ll be curious to see how it does in safety tests?
if it´s good enough for European kids, don’t you think it’d be fine for American little ones?
In all fairness, Marcelo, American kids might not fit in it.
European parents are less worried about colliding with bubba’s full-size pickup.
Just think, you can use that 3rd row to torture people that secretly despise.
