Lexus has added a turbocharger to the LF-NX concept that it introduced at the Frankfurt auto show, calling the result the LF-NX Turbo and unveiling it at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
If the engine makes it to production, that would be the first forced induction motor for Toyota’s luxury brand. The turbo is mounted to a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine with what Toyota is calling advanced high tumble port, fan spray fuel injection along with D-4S direct injection and VVT-iw variable valve timing. When it goes into production as the NX, the will slot in below the RX, in the red hot compact crossover segment.

Someone owes licensing fees to Glen Larson for the Cylon design language.
First person to put a bouncing red LED between the grill and the splitter wins.
Where’s the dang “Like” button?!?
;-)
I know almost everyone hates it, but I actually like this thing. It’s 1000x better than the RX.
And probably drives x1,000’s better than the RX.
The Lexus Origami… Creases it’s way through it’s segment causing the competition to fold
I thought I told that carwash, “No starch”
Batmobile gone horribly wrong.
Lexus really went batsh*t
Last night I was watching CEO of Toyota on local TV, he really hopes sky high about this show. His message was very clear, “we want to show the world how Japanese auto technology is progressing.”
Gawd, that thing is ugly.
Soccer moms will be terrorizing the mall parking lots with these things.
Suburban warfare.
Don’t you dare steal her parking space.
Are we sure this isn’t the concept vehicle for the next Robocop movie?
I swear that Lexus has poached Mitsubishi’s 1990’s era head designer.
I really have issues accepting that the production model is going to look like this. I just…can’t. I wish they’d stop showing us this, and show us what the real thing is going to look like. Or, if it really is going to look like this, build a friggen physical concept.
Guess this is what you get when you complain their cars are boring.
What is VVT-iw? I’ve never seen that acronym. Google doesn’t show anything either. Typo?
Get this engine in the IS F-sport, now. A 6MT would be nice, too. The 8AT will do if the 6MT is unavailable.
It’s probably a misspelling of VVT-iE, which stands for Variable Valve Timing; Intelligent by Electric Motor. VVT-iE uses a small electric motor to retard, advance or generally fine-tune camshaft timing for improved efficiency/performance.
Must be a typo in the official press release. It shows the same thing.
Didn’t Lexus put the MKIV Supra turbo engine into the GS sedan in some markets?
Huh? No. At that time Lexus was nearly US-only anyway.
yes, but it was called the Toyota Aristo. Same car, came with the same 2JZ-GTE 3.0L DOHC 24v twin-seq turbo setup.
Ah right, well I don’t count that one as a GS at all.
The whole interior is just ridiculous.
If you want ridiculous, wait till you see the price.
The whole vehicle is ridiculous.
Lexus grills are getting to the size of a bear cave entrance.
If Lexus brings this car to the market then they have finally proven that they have more balls than brains.
And I’m OK with that.
However. That drive train really needs to be in the IS and CT!
I am your father, Luke!
True, the ones in market & the one in shows are somewhat different. Most in shows are test models!
