For those of us who love the Jaguar’s F-Type’s zazz but would prefer to keep the wind out of our hair (along with the rain, sleet and snow) on a more permanent basis, Jaguar now has an option for you.
The hardtop iteration of the British-Indian automaker’s halo car will make its global debut in Los Angeles November 19 at an exclusive party for VIP customers and media types prior to taking the floor at the LA Auto Show a day later.
Though little is known about what’s under the bonnet or the glass roof panels, the all-aluminium cat most likely won’t have the C-X16’s KERS-inspired hybrid drivetrain. Rumors are abundant that a manual gearbox will debut along with the coupe. The coupe will debut in showrooms across the United States in the spring of 2014.

Oh yes, looks very naughty.
Ah, a proper gentleman’s sports coupe. I hope to see some real competition between the Jags and the other coupe/cabriolet twins in this segment, the Porsche Cayman and Boxster.
I wish it were more gentlemanly, but I don’t feel it is since the ride is so bone-shakingly hard. They should’ve softened it for the no doubt older clients and other starchy types who prefer Jags.
Ah. Yes, that does sound like a shortcoming, given the demographic of Jaguar and all. You don’t want to alienate the age group that most readily has money to spend on these things…
The f-type is not for starchy types. There’s a another car in the Jaguar line for those people… the XK.
I feel those are two different segments. I would think the F-Types would fall into 6-Series or the V8 Vantage category.
Given Jaguar’s ridiculous pricing, certainly. The local shopping mall had a near-to-base F-Type V6S that they wanted $91K for. But the 6-Series competes more with the XK…whose back seat is a complete joke.
That’s just absurd. That’s Big Brand money from has-been Jaguar. I’d rather have a super pristine E-Type for less money. I could drive it just as much as I’d want to drive the new F-Type.
And look at this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-SERIES-I-2-2-4-SPD-MANUAL-COUPE-1966-restored-series-i-xke-2-2-4-spd-manual-coupe-/190953346506?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c75b4d5ca&item=190953346506&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
Which would you rather for 30 grand less!?
Ooh! I’d much rather have the E-Type…
Does the back seat matter in these cars? At least the XK coupe is a hatchback. The DB9 I drove in June clearly had a backseat meant only for putting your attache case on. And the XK is so darn pretty too…
Well, now that Jaguar has a proper two-sweater, they really could make the XK a bit larger, in order to comfortably accommodate four adults…
This car has a wonderful exhaust note, even the V6 sounds good!
real bummer they didnt make this a shooting brake – now THAT would be exciting
I’m sure that for $150K or some other exorbitant price, a customization specialist would be happy to carve your F-Type into a shooting brake.
Great looking coupe, but I wonder if a 2.0T will ever come into play with the F-Type.
