Our Editor in Chief pro tempore, Jack Baruth, was injured an automobile collision near Columbus Saturday. His injuries were serious but he is expected to make a full recovery. Last night, Jack posted the following to his Facebook page:
This is Rumor Control. Involved in 40mph offset today on rural road. Wasn’t speeding, the other car wasn’t speeding, we just hit some ice. My son’s fine. My partner is in the proverbial dire straits. I had spleen surgery and I’ve broken the stuff I broke in 1988 — minus the neck.
In the meantime, all of his colleagues are keeping him in our thoughts and prayers, wishing for him to have a recovery as speedy as he is on the track.
Once again, Jack, all of us wish you a return to full health as soon as possible.

holy crap. hopefully by “dire straits” he means his partner is worried, not injured as well.
get well soon, JB.
Jack posted a short while ago that his passenger was injured but taken to a different medical facility where she’s had surgery and is now in stable condition.
Get well soon, Jack and partner. Nasty crash indeed. Ice, who really needs it?
http://morrowcountysentinel.com/news/home_top/3298680/Saturday-accident-on-SR-229-results-in-multiple-injuries
Wow, that was a nasty crash. Hit broadside on the passenger side.
Definitely say a prayer for whoever was in the front seat at the time.
wmba,
Thanks for posting that link. It does look awful.
Jack: I pray that you and everyone involved can heal quickly and without permanent consequences.
Ironically, my son was just recently involved in TWO accidents, separated by a week: one with a company car; the other with his Mazda 5. (Slow-speed driving in each. He’s OK; the cars are not.)
But the cause? ICE! He said, “Everything was going OK, but then in each case, the car just kind of ‘took off’, and I didn’t do anything unusual…”
—————-
Oh wow. Just wow. That’s a bad one. Definitely my thoiughts and prayers to everyone involved.
There’s always a silver lining and in this case it’s that at least one of Jack’s hideously ugly wheels was taken out. Maybe this will lead him to get four new ones with a bit more class.
That said, I wish the best to Jack, his loved ones and the occupants of the other car. We often get so involved in “the net” that we forget there are actual people on the keyboards typing what we read. Things like this help to remind us.
shitballs. well, best to both, then.
First time poster. Get well quick Jack.
If anyone holds the heart and soul of this website it’s you.
Warms my heart to see the B and B stand together in wishing you a speedy recovery. Makes TTAC that much more unique.
You and yours are in my prayers.
That’s terrible. Get well soon Jack as well as the others involved.
Ouch..
Get well soon man!
I am a frequent reader but I have never posted or commented on the site. This made me finally sign in. I wanted to thank Jack for all of the great writing throughout the years and wish him a speedy recovery. My thoughts are with you and the family. Look forward to more stories soon.
Get Well!
I’m sorry to hear this news, Jack. Wishing you and the others a speedy and uneventful recovery.
mw
Sounds very scary. Hope you and yours are better soon Jack.
all three of you will be in our thoughts, be well
Yikes! I pray you three mend swiftly and completely.
REALLY SORRY TO HEAR THIS. HOPE YOU MAKE A SPEEDY RECOVERY!!!
Get well soon, thoughts for you and your family.
Best of Luck to you and yours…I just returned from a 2000 mile trip, in a Mercedes Sprinter of all things, from NY to WI. I’ve never seen so many vehicles off the road and/or upside down. It was a tough ride in a big storm. No matter how good, careful or equipped the driver, black ice gives no quarter.
the midwest weather has been brutal these past few weeks, indeed! glad to hear jack and his son are ok, hoping to hear good news about his passenger as well.
even those who’ve been through a lot of bad winters up there are feeling this one, and the cold snap coming tonight will only make it worse.
Ice sucks… Hope you are all well and fine soon
Get well soon, Jack!
Speedy recovery wished for all.
Get well soon Jack, and all others involved. I really feel with you, since I almost had a 50mph+ head to head collision on the 30th of november, with my gf and our three kids in the car.
I tried to sverve and had the other car rip my front wheel off and destroy the whole drivers side of the car instead. We were lucky and got out mostly unharmed, except for my gf still having sore ribs from the seatbelt. The other driver suffered small bruises and cuts to his face. Cars were totalled though.
Godspeed to you and yours.
Best wishes for a complication-free recovery!
Yikes! Heartfelt wishes that everyone recovers well.
40mph? Well there’s your problem. Jack was clearly unfamiliar with such low speed maneuvering! Get well soon.
Damn!
Really unfortunate news, especially bad start for the new year. Mend quickly, Jack, and friend.
Vacationing up at The Farm for a couple of weeks and took a trip into town several days ago. We waited until late morning so the roads would clear of ice, but the forest shadowed areas(always on the sharp curves) were still icy, and despite going very slowly, still had to catch the rig in a few spots.
Doesn’t matter if you have 4WD and Posi front and rear with studs all around, it can get hairy when on a steep down hill turns at any speed. Thrown in the usual high camber roads, and it is doubly so.
The time of year to be especially cautious, no matter your equipment or wheel skills.
Godspeed and get well soon.
Sorry to hear this news, but glad to hear that all involved will recover. Jack, I reckon you can still vent your spleen, even if you don’t have a spleen.
Very sorry to hear this, but happy that no one was permanently injured. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Unless it’s in my drink, I hate ice. After driving on it for 30 years, I found safety in the south. Anyway, here’s my wish for a speedy recovery for you and your partner.
Here is to a speedy and full recovery for everyone involved.
To all TTAC regulars – please be careful out there. If this incident demonstrates anything, it is that no matter what your skill, bad road conditions can easily lead to a nasty crash.
Best wishes, Jack. Especially glad to hear that the boy’s OK. Too bad that he had to see his dad so banged up. And here’s a toast to the modern auto that let’s everyone survive a 40 mph (80 mph closing speed) offset crash.
Sending up a prayer, Jack, that you and your loved ones all have a comfortable, speedy, and complete recovery.
It’s ironic that Jack would be safer on a race track at 100 mph than on a two lane road at 40mph. Good luck with the recovery for everybody.
Well, you’d think Michael Schumacher would be safer after he quit racing. Maybe this hospitalization is one more thing JB and MS have in common.
Praying for your recovery with no lasting effects…..
Please tell me it’s not the Town Car.
Jack, prayers for a speedy recovery.
Yes, I was wondering (though it’s not necessarily important), which car they were in.
@Lorenzo: Lots of race drivers are nervous about driving on public roads. They also tend to obey speed limits to a fare-thee-well, and drive cars you might not associate with them–big, soft-riding cars and the like, instead of sports cars.
Yup about the race car drivers. I remember reading an in depth interview and ride along with Jackie Stewart in Car and Driver, well over 25 years ago. He drove a Ford Taurus and scrupulously obeyed the speed limit.
I don’t know if it’s because they get it out of their system on the track, or being around nonprofessional drivers freaks them out. Or both.
Anyway best to Jack for a speedy and full recovery.
It was.
Then it could have been a lot worse. I was in a bad accident, the only reason I’m here was because of my seat belt and the sheer mass of the Town Car I was driving
Derek – – –
Do you know if jack’s Lincoln had a limited slip differential in the rear axle?
——————-
No idea.
It has electronic traction control
Thanks Derek and Lie2me – – –
I was asking because one very unhappy thing I experienced with an LSD on a ’72 Oldsmobile, on slippery roads at speed, was a dangerous fish-tailing back and forth, as first one rear wheel engaged more solidly with better traction, and then the other. It was almost as though the LSD produced a side-thrust in first one direction then the other.
Yes, these traction-assisting devices help in starting up in snow and ice, but I had never experienced the at-speed instability effect with an open differential. The low-traction wheel would just spin a bit, alternating the spinning wheel from one side to the other, but the car would not change course.
Has anyone else noticed this?
————–
I’ve heard that a vehicle with an LSD will “dog-track” if the wheels are spinning while climbing a hill, so I think it would be rather unsettling if the back end started to go to the side while moving at a good clip.
But not stability control, which given the news report might have been a huge help.
Here’s hoping the best for you and yours Jack, heal well.
No clever words other than to count me in among the hundreds (maybe even thousands) of well-wishers. Your son is safe, so that is a relief. I hope your partner also has as good and speedy recovery.
+1,000,000 on his son being unscathed! The Townie can be replaced – if not with another Townie, then something else! Life, not so much!
It can happen to the best of us, and you Jack are certainly one of the best of us.
Best wishes for a full recovery.
Very sorry to hear this.
Good to hear your son is O.K.
Best wishes for a speedy and mostly pain-free recovery for your and your partner.
I am hoping for a speedy and complete recovery.
Keep us updated.
Gute besserung.
Here’s hoping that they recover quickly.
Get well soon Jack. Keep us posted.
Sorry to hear this Jack, but happy that you’re all on the road to recovery. Don’t rush recovery if you can help it, the rest of the staff and us here in the B&B will hold down the fort until you’re better!
So sorry to hear this. Best wishes to all involved for a quick and full recovery.
May all involved recover swiftly and completely; the news of your son’s being well is especially good.
Wow, I hope the legendary Vodka McBigBra recovers! And Jack too :).
Get better Jack!
Best wishes for Jack & his family, I hope for a speedy recovery.
I need to stop reading so damn fast.
“My partner is in the proverbial dire straits.”
I thought it said:
“My PANTHER is in the proverbial dire straits.” Ay…
Best Wishes To Jack and everyone injured for their recovery.
Is it wrong for me to say if the Town Car is totaled I look forward to the articles generated by his search for something to replace it? Jack’s not the kind of guy who usually owns the same thing over and over…
Maybe not ‘wrong’ but possibly a bit early.
As I’ve just been through the same thing, I can tell you that when looking for a replacement car, ‘I want something lightweight and nimble’ is suddenly (at least unconsciously) replaced by ‘how many airbags does this come with?’
It kind of changes the way you think about, well, everything doesn’t it?
I know that after my 60MPH shunt and spin into a Jersey barrier, I knew I’d never daily-drive any of the tiny old Japanese cars I’d pondered in the past – at least not extending to proper highway trips. A Volvo 240 isn’t exactly modern technology, but it’s got enough sensibility and overkill baked into it to hold up well enough. I walked away, ended up with a Saab NG900, and am currently selling it for… another 240.
Every accident’s different, and I have no illusion that I wouldn’t be safer in a ten-year-old Accord, but I like old cars, and I like knowing that by the standards of the era (two to three decades ago), I’m quite safe – and that I’m still likely to walk again if I get into any kind of survivable accident.
300?
I hear he is fond of the 4 cyl. Camry.
In all seriousness, do get well soon.
I shouldn’t really speculate, but if he had been driving a Camry, he might not have had the accident. With a Lincoln, combine RWD with (presumably) all-season tires and ice, and even a driver as highly-skilled as Mr Baruth can spin out. To quote the man himself:
“…FWD cars are better in the rain, better in the snow, better any time the condition of the road is in doubt.”
“It’s the front-engined, FWD car that has the most predictable emergency handling and the quickest return to stability.”
(From: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/02/avoidable-contact-color-my-world-the-case-for-front-wheel-drive/ )
Take care, Jack, and I hope you and your family get well really soon.
This is terrible news. I wish Jack had taken his own advice on drive configuration, along with some good winter tires. I just can’t relax driving a RWD on slippery or potentially slippery highways, despite plenty of experience driving RWD growing up. Give me FWD or a well-sorted AWD on good studded tires and I’ll set the cruise and calmly sip my coffee.
I might have wondered how such an apparently skilled driver could lose control had I not just driven my buddy’s 3/4-ton Dodge 150 miles on changeable winter highway conditions along with a brutal cross-wind last weekend. Some of it was icy enough to just throw it in 4WD and set the cruise, but much of it was clear so I had to leave it in RWD but be very alert and careful that the thing doesn’t try to swap ends on an icy patch. It’s been quite a few years since I’ve felt that tense on a highway drive. I normally enjoy slippery roads and the feeling of the car dancing around beneath me. I did the whole trip at the 70 mph speed limit like I would with my own car but thinking back I should have just kept it at 55 or so. It just didn’t feel safe, and that was on studded winter tires. But the heater wasn’t working well and I was in a bit of a bad mood so I had no patience for that.
This news is a reminder of the caution that even a skilled driver needs to exercise, and that caution should begin with the choice of equipment.
Get well soon, Jack and company.
I had assumed from the side impact that a loss of stability played a part here. I suppose it’s possible the car just understeered across the opposite lane, though I’d expect that to be more of a frontal impact, which probably would have been better for everyone involved, and certainly for Jack and his passengers. I’m sure we’ll hear the details eventually. I apologize if any of my assumptions are incorrect.
Looked at the link someone posted in the comment. It was his Town Car (he said it was a 2009, and the accident report said it was a 2009 too) that got totaled. And a pre-refresh 2006-2010 Sonata was involved too.
I wish Jack for a full recovery.
Jack,
You and the others, please take it easy for a while!
Jack, keeping you, passenger, and your boy in my prayers. Godspeed on your convalescence.
Get well soon. And read, don’t edit, TTAC. This site has a way of lifting the spirit.
Damn Jack, the lengths you’ll go to for a few extra clicks. J/K and I sincerely wish you and yours all the best for a speedy recovery.
If it can happen to an expert driver, it can happen to anyone. Get well soon Jack and everyone else be safe and try to limit your driving in the next 48 hours as the worst of winter descends upon us.
ice is an asshole. doesn’t matter what you drive, or how good of a driver you are.
Agreed.
Get well soon!
I hope Jack and his partner have a swift recovery, and I hope this dreaded weather gets better.
I’ll drink to that.
Life and health come first. Best to your better half, Jack, and to you and your son too.
Get well soon Jack and family.
Hope you & your partner get better soon!
Oh Jack!
I pray that you and yours will heal quickly.
The Brougham Society and I are pulling for you :)
-Richard
Wishing speedy recovery for all involved.
So very sorry, Jack, about your terrible misfortune. Wishing you and yours a very rapid recovery.
Jack & Family > This Ice Crap
Good thoughts from SF.
So sorry to hear- best wishes to all for a speedy and complete recovery.
My prayers are with you. Most accidents in modern cars, a person can walk away from. Clearly, this was much more serious. Since you are recovering and will soon be back on your feet, might I ask what vehicle you were driving? What was the vehicle that hit you? Again, my best wishes.
The story was posted above here:
http://morrowcountysentinel.com/news/home_top/3298680/Saturday-accident-on-SR-229-results-in-multiple-injuries
Driving his Lincoln Town Car. Appears to have spun and got hit on the passenger side by oncoming Hyundai Sonata.
Link appears to be broken (not your fault, the site seems to have changed the URL). Updated link here:
http://morrowcountysentinel.com/news/home_top/3298680/UPDATE—Saturday-accident-on-SR-229-results-in-multiple-injuries
Thanks for the updated link. The story now says citations are pending, so Jack may be getting a visit from the cops.
Somewhat disturbing, it lists four of the people injured with “non-incapacitating injuries”. For his passenger, Michelle, it just says she was transported by Medflight. Presumably her injuries are more serious.
That’s terrible news. We all will be hoping for Jack’s full recovery, as his companions, too. He truly has saved this site from the doldrums, and is making waves in the print press, too.
Heal fast and well, Jack. Most important, your son is OK. Hope the other passenger is OK as well.
Man I hate to read this news. Ice and moose are the scariest road hazards. I hope everyone (including the other cars’ occupants) makes a speedy recovery without a lot of stress. A wreck like this is no joke. What a relief that Jack’s son is OK.
Side hits are scary business. I wish Jack and his lady the swiftest of recoveries. Even more important, I’m glad his son’s fine.
Sometimes life literally comes down to a matter of seconds, and those seconds are so fricking quick. I pray everyone involved pulls through alright, esp after seeing the pictures.
Hope everyone recovers.
Hope the rest of the year compensates for such unfortunate start. My best wishes for all involved.
Sorry to hear about this Jack, these things come out of no where. Wish you and yours a speedy recovery and please let us know how you are doing.
Adding my wishes for a speedy recovery. Looked at the linked article and pix. Both those cars did well for the occupants.
Sorry to hear that, get well soon Mr. Baruth.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for all those involved.
Best hopes for a full recovery for Jack and his as quickly as possible.
warning to all that a good driver in good car will have problems on ice and then there are the other drivers you have to worry about in these conditions.
Posting that gold jacket picture almost made me want to not wish you a full recovery. I hope it was ruined in the crash. The rest of you and your passengers I hope are fine.
Jack, I’m glad your son wasn’t hurt: sorry to hear you and your partner were. Hope you both recover quickly and uneventfully.
Jack, hope you recover very soon. All the best to you and your partner man.
You can drive the road on ‘G-maps. West bound you have a maybe 30-35 degree left turn that goes immediately into about a 30-35 degree right turn. Only turns on the road as it is mostly straight for a ways in either direction.
Incident probably started with the entry into the right turn, but that doesn’t explain the right side hit unless the car spun 270* plus or spun exiting the left turn, but that would have put the cars in front of the auto recyclers and not down the road past the right hand corner exit. Jack’s vehicle could have just slide across the center line in front of the other vehicle exposing the passenger side to the contact.
The Lincoln took a big hit in the ‘A’ post to ‘B’ post area, from the right side front corner of the Hyundai with no clear sign that I can see of airbag deployment. It may have also had contact with a pole.
Front passenger took the brunt of this unfortunate incident and was life flighted. Hoping it is not as bad for her as it appears, as her injuries could be quite severe.
Good thing the little Buddy came through with out physical injuries.
Hoping for the best for everybody in the Hyundai, and Jack and friend of what was a very serious accident.
5708 State Route 229, Marengo, OH
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=5708+State+Route+229,+Marengo,+OH&hl=en&ll=40.399472,-82.745677&spn=0.000357,0.000696&sll=44.145446,-120.583402&sspn=2.759335,5.701904&oq=5708+State+Route+229&hnear=5708+Ohio+229,+Marengo,+Ohio+43334&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=40.399472,-82.745677&panoid=LDiO5R47KR1wy_TQBe9Njg&cbp=12,146.16,,0,0
I was looking for the airbags in the Town Car, but couldn’t see them in the pictures; the one close-up of the Hyundai’s driver-side shows the two front bags. Odd, since it looks like the front of Jack’s car took enough of a hit to trip a sensor.
In the first pic in the story (top to bottom) you can clearly see the drivers seat and dash – the airbag is not deployed in the steering wheel on the Lincoln.
The 6th picture down of the Hyundai shows the airbags in the front did deploy.
This was a nasty crash – and it appears that Jack’s partner took the brunt of the crash.
If the front end damage is from post side-impact into the pole or other contact, the speed probably wasn’t fast enough for a secondary impact deployment – and looking at the damage, front airbags probably wouldn’t have helped minimize much.
Airbags are deployed when the car’s accelerometer data shows that dangerous deceleration is occurring along some axis AND that a particular airbag is positioned such that it can help mitigate the situation.
An airbag deployment is violent and dangerous. You don’t want it to happen unless it is absolutely necessary. If the steering wheel airbag didn’t deploy, that’s a very good thing…
Unless there was a malfunction, but the car’s black box should have the data to prove one way or the other. In college, I lead a team that created a software package for a GM supplier that allowed engineers to better test the interactions between all those components and made sure the correct action was taken. They took it very seriously – years of testing hundreds of scenarios per week. An airbag malfunction would be exceedingly unusual.
This year and model Lincoln has side airbags, did they deploy? None of links to the story are working, so I can’t look
No side curtains though.
This winter blast is crazy. Hope you and you family get well soon Jack.
Get well soon!
On a lighter note, Jack did sort of predict this:
https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2011/01/fiction-the-cafe-continuum/
That is a bit eerie
Crashing sucks….get well soon.
Get well soon.
Best wishes for a fast recovery, good sir. (And likewise for everyone else involved.)
Damn, that’s a nasty hit. Hope you and the family recover soon, Jack. Thinking of you.
From the article: it’s a “Ford Lincoln” (love those small town newspapers).
John
Sorry to hear this , very glad to hear you and son are O.K. Jack ~
Hopefully SWMBO will come through O.K. too .
-Nate
This is why they call them accidents.
I sincerely hope you and the gang recover fully.
Wishing Jack and the family a full recovery, but I have a question.
Where’s the front license plate? It looks like one was never attached, but Jack lives in Ohio, and everyone is supposed to have a front plate there.
Dude, seriously?
It had been something I was wondering, but now that I read my comment, it came across more obnoxiously than I thought. Sorry.
To a speedy recovery and continued happy and safe motoring.
Jack, best wishes for a full and speedy recovery for all involved. So glad to hear your son is uninjured.
Sorry to hear this! Hearty wishes for you and your passengers to heal and be healthy.
Jack, I hope everything works out for you and those that are close to you. Get better soon!
Hopefully Jack’s partner is out of the woods. Always scary to see a Med Flight involved. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for all involved.
Jack,
Well wishes to you and your loved ones. I hope all make a full recovery. While the car is only metal, it looks like she sacrificed herself for the greater good. Get well soon.
Vehicles can be replaced. People cannot. Hope for speedy recoveries and no long-term ill effects from the wreck.
Chiming in from rainy, dreary Saudi Arabia (yes, it does rain in Riyadh…once every three or so months). Wishes for a speedy and complete recovery for all involved. We know JB will be back soon with stories to tell…:)
Did the police show up?
Jack, I wish you and your family a speedy and full recovery. And I hope your next article will be about reporters who dare to call your car a “ford lincoln”!
Holy crap wow, I just made it home through all the white knuckle bad weather in the Midwest and am thankful to have made it home alive. Sorry to hear about your accident and hope everyone recovers fully.
Ahh, shit.
Best wishes for everyone to have a swift snd complete recovery.
And, here’s to crumple zones.
Get well soon Jack and family!
Wow – I hope everything turns out OK for all involved.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for you and your passengers. +10000000000000000 that your son is fine.
This is no way to start a New Year…wising Jack and partner a fast and complete recovery.
Oh no … wishing you guys a speedy recovery.
I was also wondering on the irony of all of this, as well as Schumacher’s….
Godspeed to you and your loved ones Jack; speedy –no pun intended– recovery.
Thank God your boy is ok, best wishes for your passenger and your full recovery.
Here’s hoping for a full recovery for everyone involved. Here’s also hoping the Town Car makes a full recovery. From the sounds of things, may be a write off though.
Glad to hear everyone is safe. It looks like both cars structures preformed well. Jack was you kid in some sort of child seat? If he is uninjured due to a seat and not just youthful robustness I would like to get the same seat for my kids!
I’m guessing, since his son is 2, IIRC, he was in a seat. I’m curious where he was in the back seat; they always say that the center is safest, so proof positive!
I’ve been out-of-pocket for 3 days, so I’m just now hearing about it. Jack, wishing for a speedy recovery for you and your friend. Glad your son got out so well!! It’s not fun to get beat up like that in an accident!!!!
Belatedly, get well soon Jack and family.
Wishing a full and speedy recovery to Jack and his passengers. I recall that in his “Rentin The Blues” article Jack indicated the Lincoln Town Car was “a nightmare to drive in icy 2 lane roads, requiring frequent violent steering corrections” and in “The Panther In Winter” he described it as “treacherous” on cold roads. Of course, on black ice all cars will perform like this.
Jack, I’m so sorry this happened. Thank God your son is all right. May you and your friend have a swift recovery.
I’m guessing, since his son is 2, IIRC, he was in a seat. I’m curious where he was in the back seat; they always say that the center is safest! Proof positive!
Our prayers and thoughts are with them. Fortunately it didn’t happen today when the temps are almost -30*. Glad the little one is OK, it’s bad enough when you and your S.O. are hurt.
The pictures in the linked article tell a scary story. Here’s my wishes for a speedy and complete recovery by all.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
My Goodness I hope his partner is okay, and that his recovery is a relatively easy one. Having said that, it’s looking like the big Lincoln is totaled, so once everyone is recovered, I’m looking forward to seeing what his next vehicle may be!
Get well soon Jack! Hope you and your passenger make a full recovery!
Best to you and yours, Jack. Get well soon.
Speedy and full recovery to all involved.
What a horrible thing to happen. I hope all recover quickly and my prayers go out to all involved.
Holy crap, just looked at the accident pictures. Say a prayer for Jack’s girlfriend. She took the brunt of the hit for sure.
God bless all of us for another year of driving with shiny side up and sticky side down,
Jack and his clan recover swiftly.
Amen.
So sorry Jack. Hoping for the best.
Best wishes for all for a complete recovery.
No “better-driver” way to deal with ice…just have to drive slower.
The sole reason that I came back to this site is Jack’s fine writing, and the knowledge that the site was in better hands once BS was gone.
News of Jack’s accident this morning certainly depressed me, to say the least.
Here’s hoping to a speedy recovery to all involved. Jack – looking forward to more of your excellent and poignant pieces once you’re back to 100% – they get me through the drab workdays. You’ve come a long way since the ‘Phaeton at 100mph’ piece that riled up more than a few feathers.
Get well soon, Jack. And thanks for sending a Rumor Control notice, so the rumors don’t get out of hand.
Good wishes for a speedy recovery to Jack and all involved.
You really bring a lot to this site , I wish a speedy recovery for you and the others involved. God speed
Kickstarter for a replacement Town Car?
I’m pulling for a end of production Northstar equipped DTS or Lucerne just to see if they finally fixed the Northstar. Plus Baruth will actually make that bastard rev into the high ranges were it sound sweet unlike the elderly clientele that the car originally had.
A bad start to 2014 – hope it goes better from here and everyone makes a full recovery.
Mr Baruth, I have enjoyed many of your articles. I look forward to many more after the speedy recoveries of you and your loved ones.
Best wishes.
Speedy recovery to you and your family, Jack.
Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.
Eish! Speedy recovery Jack & passengers.
So sorry to hear about the crash. Thoughts and prayers to you and your loved ones, and I’m very glad your son is fine.
I’m glad Jack was out and about in that weather in the Panther as it likely saved them from a horribly worse outcome. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jack and his injured passenger. I hope we get positive news soon. Any accident that requires cutting up the frame of a big panther is a serious crash indeed.
I just read this article and followed the links after working through the weekend. The cabin intrusion is bad sign. I hope all involved do well and that Jack’s friend got Level 1 care. She will need it. Other than my patients and people at church, this is the first time I prayed for a total stranger.
Wish you and your friend a speedy recovery Jack. At least your son is fine, and I think that’s one of the better scenarios out of this bad situation…
Wow, that looks like quite a horrible accident. I hope everyone recovers 100% as soon as possible.
Also, you were apparently driving a “2009 White Ford Lincoln”, which is pretty funny to me.
http://morrowcountysentinel.com/news/home_top/3298680/UPDATE—Saturday-accident-on-SR-229-results-in-multiple-injuries
I wish Mr Baruth and his extended family a speedy recovery. This could have happened to any of us.
Yikes. Hope the recovery is going well.
