Courtesy of Jalopnik comes the Ford F-150 order guide for the all-aluminum 2015 model.
It looks like Ford has simplified a lot of the trim levels and packages, with the STX and FX4 disappearing (though you can still order nearly identical configurations).
I’ll defer to the pickup experts among the B&B for a thorough analysis. From my skimming, it appears that there is an SSV package for police and other heavy duty use, and only on XL models with the 3.5L Ecoboost or 5.0L V8. The V8 is also the standard engine on the King Ranch and Platinum trim levels.

Holy crap, the base XL regular cab short bed version is available with both the 5.0 and the 3.5 EcoBoost engines and a Tremec six speed manual.
Ok, now somebody find something interesting about the options that is actually true.
There’s a Lariat Sport Appearance Package!
And, apparently a King Ranch Base Package.
Why would you want a base King Ranch? Isn’t going above and beyond kind of the point?
I’m not sure what exactly the “Base,” “Mid,” and “Luxury” grades of each trim level mean, but I don’t think they mean what you mean. Maybe it’s shorthand for which option package each one has…?
Ford has consolidated their product lines. Previous bits like the FX, SXT are rolled into other lines as options. This explains the move to more trim levels within a trim level.
I like this approach. I’ve heard multiple people say that they resent having to get an entire model “package” just to get what they want.
case in point-
FX4’s are super hot sellers in my region and not because everyone wants a rugged more capable 4×4 but because they love the monochromatic look of the truck.
I’d love an XLT with the FX4 look but no e-locker. I hate how it works (or not works).
@Lou_BC: Especially since it’s more true to the original FX4 being a package on top of XLT/Lariat rather than a trim level.
That’s evil!! I was excited!! Then I read the last sentence. Seriously. Bad man Charlie Brown.
Love everything about the new F-150. Have no use for a truck but am interested in 2.7TT MPG in Crew 4×4 configuration with low gears.
I’d personally opt for the 5.0, but $495 seems like a good deal to get another ~100 lb-ft of torque over the old 3.7. If FE and keeping costs constrained were king, I’d throw caution to the wind and option the 2.7EB over the NA 3.5. Imagine if you could get that same relative power increase over the base engine for $495 in most cars?
“Hello sir, we have this wonderful Camaro you see in front of you with 323 hp and 278 lb-ft. It can be yours for the low low price of $24,550! Or for $25,045 you could get this one here with 342 hp and 375 lb-ft.”
I know which one I’d pick.
Kodiak Brown Metallic is no more. The B&B are doubtless grieved.
It says that the XL has a 40/20/40 front seat (cloth or vinyl), which means it’ll still come with a front bench, I think.
Yep, that’s the two bucket seats with a flip-down console/seat in between. Which is really more useful than a true one-piece bench seat, which was last seen on the fleet-level Toyota Tundra in ’06.
Kodiak Brown Metallic was just a variation of black. Most of the trucks I see with it look black until you get some bright sunlight on them.
Looks like we can’t get a 6 seater (front bench) with leather… :-(
No, the Lariat has leather buckets standard, but the 40/20/40 bench is still an option. But the leather buckets option for XLT, which was new for ’14, looks to be gone for ’15.
If you want one, here’s some advice. Wait for the new transmission to arrive because you know it’s coming. They upgraded everything else, except that. You can bet your bottom dollar that the 2016 model will have it.
I would bet on at least one engine change too. It could be anything from adding an additional engine, to a DI Coyote, to power pumps over 2015.
If I had to replace my 2010 right now I’d get a 2014 with 5.0. One is more likely to get a more durable truck by purchasing from end of model run as opposed to the beginning of a new model run.
