While the Chinese have Buick’s latest crossover, the Envision, to themselves for now, a plan is in the works to bring it over to the United States by Q3 2015 at the earliest.
Edmunds reports the Envision would be offered in FWD and AWD configurations, with power to come from a four-cylinder engine with stop-start technology on-board. The five-passenger crossover would slot between the Encore and Enclave when added to the U.S. market lineup.
Though GM remains silent for now, Buick-GMC vice president of sales Duncan Aldred says the Envision would find itself in “a big segment in the U.S.”
Should it arrive here, the crossover would go up against the likes of the Mercedes GLA-Class, Lincoln MKC and GMC Terrain, among others.

So, what will the Cadillac and Chevy versions be?
Chevy has the Equinox.
But, that’s SO old and so is the SRX
You can’t “count” the SRX though, because it’s technically a Saab.
Maybe, but it’s still a Theta platform
Great, now the Terrain has a competitor that is right across the showroom. Now you can play even more Pricing games with the Chevy dealer vs. the GMC/Buick dealer.
Time to split the GM pie a little thinner! It will be ridic overpriced just like the Terrain.
GMC should stick to capable trucks and leave the fake trucks to Buick.
Is it a good thing that we finally get to see “real” Chinese Buicks?
People assume that Chinese Buicks are similar to US Buicks: large near-luxury sedans. It turns out that they mostly sell a Cruze variant and an Astra variant.
This Envision looks like a half-hearted copy of a Kia Rondo.
Another boring egg-shaped crossover! Good luck shaking off your brand perceptions.
Interesting observation as I just was thinking the same…
While my first car was a ’68 Wildcat (that I’d love to find in pristine condition someday) and a former GM fan things have changed (and not for the better). I now view almost all GM cars as derivative, generic and worse.
While my perception is one of a corporation who consistently over-promises and under-delivers I no longer have confidence in their products, their statements and most importantly the company.
Each new model is an example of cost cutting, bland design (Corvette & Cadillac excepted) and typically poor quality. Overall, despite bankruptcy, the government bailout and promises of improved quality… little has changed.
I’m not a hater but just frustrated by squandered promises and potential… maybe if GM cared as much about the product as they do about profit things might improve.
Yay for Wildcat love!
built where? inquiring minds want to know
It’s based on the Delta platform (Buick Verano) so in all likelihood it would be built in the Orion plant in Michigan
