During my trip to Sweden a few months ago, I watched a Volvo 244 triumph at a Folkrace, saw some great restored Detroit iron, and— of course— went to the junkyard. In fact, I went to one of the best junkyards I’ve ever seen: Bloms Bilskrot, located near the northern town of Söråker. We’ve taken a detailed look at this 1966 Toyota Crown wagon, this 1963 Ford Taunus 17M, this California-customized 1969 Ford Econoline van, this 1964 Simca 1000, and now it’s the turn of a not-sold-in-North-America fifth-generation Nissan Cedric.
This one is pretty mossy, but still has some useful parts.
The 280C version came with the same L28 as the 280ZX, but it could also be had with a diesel version known as the LD28.
Since there’s a glow-plug indicator light on the dash, this car should be an oil-burner.
The European version appears to have been given English-language dash controls.
The next generation of this car came with a V6 and the endorsement of Jack Nicklaus. Wait, wasn’t he supposed to stay loyal to the Isuzu Statesman Deville?

Datsun Fairmont.
But “se da rik-kuuuu” sounds great!
Styling-wise, I think this would have been more commercially appealing in the USA than the 1982 Maxima was.
Truly, it looks like that early 80s LTD thing. And the interior is very Town Car.
That rear 3/4 view reminds me of the Dodge 600/Plymouth Caravelle from the mid 80s.
I’m seeing a mid 80s Fox LTD.
+1 LTD/Fairmont inside and out right down to the unnatural blue
Definitely, LTDII/Fairmont in and out right down to the unnatural blue
If I didn’t so crave the esteem of others I’d admit that I adored the ’78 Futura I briefly had in beautiful malaise two-tone, tan & tanner.
I like its “future” looks too although I have no personal experience with the model.
@28
There are certain vehicles throughout one’s life that for no articulable reason just glom onto your heart and make you love everything about driving them.
For me, some of those have been that Futura, a ’72 Fury wagon, ’70 Volvo 144, ’84 Civic wagon, ’88 Prelude and an ’02 Deville.
Maybe some subtle outgassing of petrochemicals just perfectly hit my midbrain, maybe ergonmics and sightlines, maybe some hippie shanti juju was evanescing from their karmic aura…. f*ck if I know, they just made me uncommon happy to be in.
STRONG LTD vibes from the front tire aft.
Hey Cedric! Wuz up dog? Hey man you look terrible! What wit you?
Jack Nicklaus wasn’t ready to endorse until they made a true hard-top.
That’s good to know the oil pan in one of my cars has Jack Nicklaus’ blessing.
Is that a 105E Anglia to the right of this car?
I love those old Anglias, they’re so amusing.
That a Mercedes, W111(?) What I can see looks identical to the 220Sb I had.
I thought I saw the frame of the classic backwards slanted rear window that the Anglia and Consul Classic had…
Was this Datsun ‘Euro Buick’ for doctors & bank mngrs seeking 1st starts & no dabbling? Plastic wood & plush blue reminds me of 60’s BMC Vanden Plas. Though it ‘wood’ have been genuine… The Japs loved it.
I’ll guess from lead shot Cedric popped a huge trunk with pokey rear legroom? Shades of B13 Sentra.
I’ve long wanted to ask you: can you see our planet from where you are?
That gauge cluster could have come right out of a late 60’s Mopar product.
