Behold the new face of the 2016 Kia Sorento as revealed at the 2014 Paris Auto Show.
The updated SUV holds either five or seven passengers depending on configuration, with increases in head- and legroom within its overall measurement of 188 inches. The cargo area also gained more space, now at 21.3 cubic feet with all rows folded down; the second row is split 40/20/40.
Up front — in Europe, at least — two diesel and one gasoline four-bangers will be available to move the Sorento around: an entry-level 2-liter with 182 horses and 297 lb-ft of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed auto; a 2.2-liter with 197 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque; and a 2.4-liter with 185 horses and 178 lb-ft of torque.
Inside, plenty of safety technology can be fitted, including backup camera, lane departure, speed limit informer et al. Sound deadening materials help cut interior noise up to 6 percent, while all occupants will be treated to leather and soft-touch materials.

BMW-inspired headlights that connect to the grille – Check.
Audi/VW-influenced taillight elements – Check.
Acura MDX profile – Check.
At least their tiger nose snout is original.
Kind of like a greatest hits album.
A Greatest Hits album, sung by a “tribute band”.
Oh look!
A new CUV that looks EXACTLY like every other CUV already in existence or development!
I actually like the old one better. I’d never buy either, but if I were in the market for a one, I’d get the pre-refresh model for a discount. The side profile just looks weird.
So now this will be the direct counterpart to the Santa Fe (LWB). I like it. The styling is handsome and I think it’ll do quite well on the market. It would be cool if they had exhaust tips on it, though. Maybe the V6 version (which will likely carry over the same 3.3-liter Lambda II GDi engine that the LWB Santa FE has).
This has a nice/handsome reserved styling vibe going on inside and out, much nicer than the Hyundai equivalent IMHO. They keep this up and Honda/Toyota loyalists might actually cross-shop this, including me. Still hung up about long term reliability and if this would be a keeper after the warranty is over?
I like it, nice improvement over it’s predecessor. The dash, not so much
At least it has an exterior color other than black, white, and silver. Now if it had a light color interior…
Kia had this on their display stand at the Incheon airport in Seoul when I went through a couple weeks ago. It’s a looker in person, particularly the new front fascia.
Can we clear up what exactly this 2016 Sorento is? Is it a replacement for the all new 2014 Sorento that is based on the current Santa Fe Sport, or is it an additional Sorento version of the bigger Santa Fe?
Longer wheelbase, so more like the SF.
So the front says Volvo XC90, and the rest (including the interior) is Grand Cherokee.
…only less attractive than either.
Agree.
So according to the posts thus far, the new Sorento looks like a BMW, Audi/VW, Acura, Volvo and Grand Cherokee.
And earlier comments kept bringing up the Toyota Highlander (?).
Wouldn’t mistake it for any of them.
That’s because you either work at or own lots of stock in Hyundai/Kia.
Sorry to disappoint you, but neither is true.
However, what is true is you trolling H/K threads and your inability to decipher auto design.
I agree, I think it looks like a newer, larger, updated Kia Sorento, which was not attractive enough to be mistaken for a BMW, Jeep or Volvo and still isn’t, but it is an improvement
I’d probably put it there with the new XC90, but the new X5 and GC are about as handsome as CUVs get (altho Jeep kinda ruined the face of the GC with the refresh).
Better looking than the Santa Fe, Highlander, Pathfinder or Pilot (but new Pilot on the way).
I do concede it’s much better looking than the outgoing version!
Apologies for the delay, but the live photos for the Sorento are now up!
