The Astonization of Ford continues, this time with the newly revised 2015 C-Max, bowing at the 2014 Paris Auto Show.
Along with the new face, the compact MPV boasts new tail lamps, revised hatch, new alloy wheels, two new shades of color — Red Rush and Caribou — and an updated center console with fewer buttons and less stitching for a cleaner look.
Safety features for the C-Max include parking assist, cross-traffic alert, the new Park-Out Assist — allowing the crossover to unpark itself from tight spaces — and adaptive cruise control.
Under the hood, a 1.5-liter turbo-four is now available, while European customers also receive a variety of engines, from a 2-liter turbodiesel, to a 1-liter EcoBoost.
Speaking of Europe, the above reflect what can be had in the market, with no word as of yet regarding if any of the changes will cross the Atlantic.
Wheels buried under the bodywork, cheap looking lower valance grille, bad DLO fail.
And it’s still better looking than the current C-Max.
I wouldn’t consider this a crossover in any sense. It’s just a hatchback.
How is it a “DLO fail” if that triangle is actually a window (and daylight is allowed through)?
I’m thoroughly convinced that the only people on God’s green and blue earth who care about or even know what “DLO fail” is are the TTAC commenters.
What you’re saying is that the people here are special – and you’re right!
It’s a DLO fail because the cut line of the front door comes up to a 90 degree square.
I get what it means, I’m just not sure why it’s so universally hated by everyone on these boards. I honestly can’t say I have an opinion about DLO fails in general one way or the other, it’s a design element that never really caught my eye for better or for worse. I’m just genuinely curious how it became such a thing on here.
IT ATE my comment.
The C-Max ate your comment? Behold the power of Ford
It’s up there now. Came back.
I agree with your recently regurgitated comment
“[T]he crossover boasts new tail lamps…” ? How is this a crossover?
As in, how is it not just a nice tallish hatch?
I agree… the Ford Rondo. And I like it.
Assuming that pilfering A-M’s grill for the new corporate face a couple of years ago is the orginal reference, but what does “The Astonization at Ford continues” mean? Any new shiny bits? A fresh color?
I agree, if Ford owned Aston-Martin, then sold Aston-Martin, but kept the grille how is it pilfering or “The Astonization at Ford continues”?
The current C-Max has too much grill. The new one shown at Paris is an improvement in that regard. Still, if Ford wants to get past the sales slump caused by its MPG rating missteps, it will have to make more significant changes to the new C-Max. To increase the mpg on this vehicle, unless you make significant changes to the power train, you will have to improve the drag coefficient. I think that means that you would have to drastically redesign the front end, and you would have to extend the overhang over the hatch. The C-Max is an excellent car in terms of function, but its looks are nothing special. It has a great personality, but it is destined to stay home on prom night.
How about a gas or diesel model. I bought the C-Max Hybrid, but I would have purchased a C-Max with the 2.0 Duratorq or the 1.5T instead.
I’m holding off on buying a cmax energi in the expectation that this refresh comes to USA. It is a better package than focus or escape.
What in the world is a “C-Max”? Is this an Escort, Fiesta, Focus or an Escape in econo-mode?
Good question, (scratches head) since the Escape is a Focus I do believe the C-Max would be a Fiesta
The Ford EcoSport is the SUV version of the Fiesta; though not sold here.
Which is very unfortunate. I like the EcoSport and it seems that it would be a viable alternative to the Trax/Encore. Why Ford chooses not to sell it here is beyond me
It’s an MPV version of the Focus. It is on the same platform as the Focus, Escape, and Grand C-Max (bigger with sliding doors). There is a B-Max in Europe that is a Fiesta MPV with sliding doors.
Thanks for the clarification
As far as the Ford Global C-Platform vehicles go (Focus, C-Max, Escape, MKC), the C-Max has the best packaging. It is a very nice place to commute in.
My only worry is that I will get bored with the car and buy something else that isn’t as reliable or practical.
I agree, the C-Max appears to be almost too practical and somewhat dowdy, something I would tire of rather quickly
On paper, it is the best car I have ever owned. It drives well, gets over 40 MPG, has been very reliable, it is great for having kids in car seats, and it is safe. I should be able to drive it for another 10 years without too much of an issue.
However…..Mustang calls my name.
I like to tweak/modify cars to alleviate boredom, I tend to gravitate toward cars that lend themselves to be messed with having plenty of aftermarket mods and simple layouts that are fun to work on
The first generation was called “Focus C-Max”; it only dropped the “Focus” from the name after the mid-life face-lift.
So no, not a Fiesta.
I love egg-mobiles and this is now the most attractively smooth and conservative looking. Exudes quality without pretense of any kind. It appears to have more capacity than the HR-V with a larger greenhouse. Egg!
