“Those 60s timeless beauties.
So beautiful in a natural way. Without the overdone look or too artificial.”
That is still my wife today; she does not wear makeup and has not cut her hair in decades. Both she and I are older now, and our hair is mostly silver now; but she still very beautiful in a natural way.
A lot of it is internal as well. You can’t live the lifestyle most people live nowdays since the 60s, and not look and feel like a cast-off rag doll when you get older. She made some mistakes in your youth, and life gets rough at times; but good living keeps her radiant from the ins1de, something makeup can’t replicate.
Ok, you guys are going to hate me for this, but there was nothing natural about Marilyn Monroe or Jayne Mansfield. Some ’60s “beauties” look hard and brassy to me. It’s no better now with plastic faces and boobs, but each generation has it’s beauties and their beasts
You know what was the best part? The warm personality, coupled with a sense of grace and propriety.
Maybe its all just an illusion, but I am a big fan of the idea of inner beauty being compatible with outer beauty, the former making the latter ever more resplendent.
I particularly liked that she was no-nonsense. There’s a great picture of Ekberg confronting the papparazzi outside her house w/bow & arrow.http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2014/apr/28/photography-exhibition-la-dolce-vita
If Anita Ekberg (one of the most beautiful women ever to grace a screen) came up today, she’d never get past an army of editor and casting types. They’d all say she was too fat.
Nope.
If someone as hideous as Lena Dunham can get her own show in this day and age, it stands to reason that Ekberg could gain another 100 lbs, wash her hair with cat feces, and still get hired.
nope..

And I’m talking both about the female actresses of the time and the sports cars.

I can only hope to be so lucky. Comment of the day.
+10.
That sounds like my wife too. We are lucky men.
Quite a few of us here it sounds like .

“She has a lovely mouth, that Anita.”
Yes! That’s how I know of Anita, never saw her movies, just the “From Russia With Love” scene. Nice XK120 OTS too.
“Ah yes, I see what you mean.”
I just watched that movie again this weekend. Another 60’s classic, and still one of the best of the series.
Derek, you might want to post a photo of her cavorting in Rome’s Trevi Fountain. That was in La Dolce Vita, the great early Fellini movie.
I wanted to keep it slightly relevant to the automotive world.
There were Fiats and Alfa Romeos in the movie, and they were mostly flying around Rome at high speed.

True. 10 years ago they made Scarlet Johannessen slim down.
Nope.

I think “Girls” like/dislike is generational. I hate it but 25 years ago I liked thirtysomething. But yeah, why is she the only one who’s nude?
You’d be surprised how many millennials hate it, myself included.
Anita Ekberg made Pamela Anderson look like a boy, and did it without silicone.
Um ;
She’s too skinny for me…. =8-) .
I used to date this psychotic b*tch who loved going out and getting live in my convertible with the top down…
memories , sweet memories .
