Skipping Chicago after Detroit as far as debuts are concerned, Lexus will unveil its 2016 RX 350 at the 2015 New York Auto Show in April.
Edmunds reports the crossover will grow in size to distance itself from the Toyota RAV4-based NX 200t, while also losing weight through the use of lightweight materials for better fuel economy. The size increase may mean a third-row seat for two more passengers, as well; the RX 350 has always been a five-passenger crossover since its birth in 1998.
As far as styling goes, Lexus’ trademark Predator face may be jazzed-up with the rest of the exterior, but the premium brand isn’t likely to flip the script on its No. 1 best-seller entirely.
The 2016 RX 350 is set to arrive in showrooms later in 2015.

You mean, that’s not the rear of the new 2016 RX, which is what your link shows.
I hate these new dark wheels everyone’s using, they look like winter steelies from a distance or low light.

I also hate the dark wheels and sports trims on CUVs, and dark color wheels in general. They just look dirty. And mom’s CUV doesn’t need a sports trim.

Predator is spot on. The front Lexus design language, if you will, is rather awful. At least to me. That said, the third row is the question mark. Will they be tiny and uncomfortable? That third row kills cargo space. Sure the seats will fold but if you have family members in them and are planning to travel, that lack of space renders the added people capacity meaningless for a family trip. Still, you can count on the mall parking lots to be full of these.
The people I’ve known to be gaga over Lexus SUVs weren’t all that into procreation.

It blows my mind how many people can’t wrap their minds around the usage of 3rd row seats in midsized crossovers. No one intelligent is buying an RX or similar to drive their family of 6 across the country. They want a long-haul vehicle for a family of 3-4, and around-town capability to bring an extra couple of kids home from soccer practice. Why is this so hard for people to comprehend, or are they just looking for something else to whine about?

just as long as you can option it out. my frustration with those that force it upon you (MDX) is the loss of cargo cuft due to the hidden seat.
as long as I can vote for the space I have no problem with somebody having the choice to plan for the extra kids to the movies situation.
Yup. The RX now has horrible cargo space and no split tailgate or opening glass. Everything you put in quickly falls out when you open the back if you try to pack it full.
Wow amazing tech. They’ve combined the high center-of-gravity of a truck with the impractical approach angle of a car. I would also expect minuscule tow capacity and reduced cargo room
One place Lexus is behind: they need to further reduce driver visibility. Competitors have reduced window size even more, and those “c” pillars should be much bigger.
That’s the whole segment.
You forgot to mention the “cash printer” technology built right in. Everytime someone buys this, Toyota laughs all the way to the bank. It practicaly floats the whole Lexus brand.

It is interesting how the B&B is unanimous in the hate for the design of Lexus vehicles, yet the sales seem to indicate the exact opposite in the view of the public.
Lexus builds a better breadbox and until recently I would venture to say they were one of the best all around cars you could buy. I haven’t sampled anything new to confirm this is the case, but the lack of bumper on the face is a fail.
@ 28 – I know four households with pre-Predator RX’s, and I have to admit that riding in and occasionally driving them has become something of a guilty pleasure. I agree with the criticism that older Lexi actually had better materials, but I think that’s been slightly overblown in some comment threads. They’re quiet, well-assembled, and incredibly reliable; and the current ones’ plastics and leathers are only a smidgen worse and still nice in an absolute sense. (I’m comparing two RX 330’s to two RX 350’s.) Whether or not the RX and ES are worth the money is a question that’s open for debate. I could see myself embracing my inner-old man and getting a CPO ES.
I strongly dislike the me-too LED’s and plus-size wheels they’ve gone to in the Predator era.
