The Blue Oval has no use for 50 shades of gray, not when two will suffice for the 2015 Chicago Auto Show debut of the Ford GT.
Per our friends over at AutoGuide, the big news this time around for the 3.5-liter turbo-six exotic is that it will be assembled in Canada. Multimatic Motorsports in Markham, Ontario — just north of TTAC Zaibatsu HQ in Toronto — will be in charge of putting together the GT, lending further credibility to the rumor that Ford wants to throwdown at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. The group campaigns a pair of Mustang Boss 302Rs in IMSA’s Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.
As for other details about production and pricing since its jaw-dropping world debut in Detroit, analysts believe a few hundred units will leave Multimatic annually, each with a price tag of around $200,000. Ford remains silent about either figure, however.

And with that, I pass the baton to Derek, who will lead you through the second and final media day of the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. See you Monday!
Thanks for all the great auto show posts, Cam!
Yes, first rate job.
:-)
I had an argument with a friend who claimed that “no car company can F* with the Corvette” and that “there’d never be a coupe sports car as successful as the corvette”…
This Ford GT is cool, but the cost is astronomical. Same with the Viper.
Didn’t you kind of prove your friends point?
Also, wouldn’t the Miata or the Nissan Z be the most successful sports car?
You know Viper beat Corvette last year in the Tudor USCC? That’s where the factory teams play.
@BTSR – you mean “no USA based company can F* with the Corvette”.
The Corvette doesn’t even register on the horizon of any European or even Japanese company’s radar.
This is the car you should buy if you can afford it because it will virtually never depreciate and probably only appreciate but chances you could get one are hopelessly slim anyway. I have a hard time believing it will be only $200,000, I guess they can put the MSRP at whatever, none will sell for anything close to it anyway.
I think there will be a small number of the Ford GT sold at MSRP: Each one a dealer buys at his or her own dealership.
The previous GT was sold with massive discounts in some places, so it could happen here.
Both: GT and Viper need ‘traditional American V8’ .. at least as an option.. that would be ‘more aviable’ for more car-enthusiasts .. They are trying to ‘pose’ at ‘italian exotics’ , or what ? , i.e: Supercharged V-8 from top- Mustang and Challanger would do ..)
Looks cool.
There is some blue monster/bull cartoon character, and I swear to you his face looks like the back of this car.
But I can’t think of what show it’s from.
I think it’s a great looking car (it kind of reminds me of BMW i8) and if they get the power/handling right buyers won’t mind that is a glorify, sorry I mean turbo V6 after all why not? the original GT, the GT40 was constructed with Ferrari in mind and it seems that this one is too. I wish Ford all the best and that this new updated version is as much a success as the first GT was. Pity is an automatic.
