The Colorado has awful interior materials & aesthetics – like something a Chinese JV partner designed & fabricated.

I think the Colorado Canyon is off to a relatively good start.

Even the aluminium F-150 only sold 10 000 or so 2015 F-150s in January. So it’s not a bad effort on GMs part.

The author of the article stated he would be interested in seeing how many Colorado Canyon pickups stole sales from the Silverado Sierra.

I would ask how many sales were taken away from any 1/2 ton pickup and not just GM brands, especially people wanting only a NA V6.

Forgot to add that GM seems to have it’s sh!t together better with the Colorado than Ford has with the aluminium F-150.

I don’t think Ford assessed accurately to difficulties encountered making the new F-150.

Like Ford’s claim they are employing additional staff because of the “demand” of the F-150.

I do think Ford has a problem in F-150 production.

The new Colorado/Canyon are much nicer than the current Tacoma and Frontier. Will have to wait to see the 2016 Tacoma when it comes out but GM has done a much better job on this generation than the past. As for the new F-150 the verdict is still out in that it is not in full production yet. Ford has much more at stake with aluminum F-150 than GM has with the Colorado/Canyon.

What do you consider nicer? I don’t pay attention to all the bells and whistles GM is offering so they may have Yota edged out in that aspect but coming from a reliability standpoint GM doesn’t hold a candle to Toyota.

Is there a three-wheeled car that was actually successful?

I haven’t seen many Colorado’s or Canyons on the dealer lot. It is interesting to see sales stats but so far the Colorado has not hurt Tacoma at all. Perhaps there was pent up demand for a new modern small truck.
I do not think that the Colorado interior is awful like Deadweight has mentioned.
The Colorado/Canyon siblings suffer from the same disease as the Sierra/Silverado. GM’s work grade versus professional grade 2 truck ideology paints the Chevy side as the red head step child.

      @Lou_BC,
Like here when the new gen mid sizers came out they didn’t impact the Toyota Hilux too much.

But, they have been catching up. The Hilux on it’s own is still the largest selling pickup. But I think the combination of the Ranger/BT50 is as large or slightly larger.

The global Colorado hasn’t achieved what GM had hoped. A refresh with the body of the US Colorado will arrive this year I think.

I read an article that the Colorado program was abbreviated due to money constraints due to the GFC and it appears the US finished off the Colorado.

The interior of the Colorado here isn’t that good either. GM must pay attention to detail. I do think the US has an overall problem with the interiors of many of their vehicles.

The Asians and EU do a better job.

My mothers Focus which is Michigan built has a poor interior. A poor selection of materials and finish has left what could of been a decent vehicle into a something that is reminiscent of a 70s/80s British car.

I suppose as many comments from the US indicate they get their vehicles cheaper. Cost cutting has to come from somewhere.

And don’t forget, if you buy one, people will respect you more. You will become more manly, and have a cougar for a pet. Also, if you happen to buy a Civic instead, you will be mandatorily castrated. Or that’s what GM’s ads for these say anyway.

Maybe the Canadian government should have held onto the GM stock and threaten to dump it and kill the stock price if Canadian plants are shut down. There are laws against that, but Canada is a sovereign. They can’t arrest QEII.
