Before its MY 2016 showroom appearance, the next-gen Audi A4 will make its global debut prior to the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show this September.
Indian Autos Blog reports Audi Board of Managment member and technical development boss Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg made the proclamation during this month’s Geneva Auto Show:
You’ll be happy to see it..at least in Frankfurt (Frankfurt Motor Show), but we’ll make a pre-presentation (prior to the show).
Said pre-presentation would be staged close to the start of the show September 15, with global media in attendance for the debut.
The new A4 is expected underpinned by the MLB Evo architecture, losing 100 kg (220 lbs) while gaining 13 powertrain options covering gasoline, diesel and hybrid variants. The sedan will hit showrooms in Europe near the end of the year, with more details and images to come as its date with the world draws closer.

I am so bored with Audis styling. Same car different lengths doesn’t work for me. I might consider an A5 or A7, but that’s about it. Even their best executive sedan just looks like an A6L.
The point to Audi’s styling is that new models don’t make old models look obsolete overnight. That keeps residuals high and leases cheap.
You can get a lot of car for your lease payment from Audi, even if the styling is a little boring. That’s Audi’s niche, and it’s been working-out for them.
I guess I’m just disappointed with Audi, around 08+ when they started doing same-car-diff-length. Before that they were all a little different at least.
Audi doesn’t lease well at all, at least in Vegas. BMW is the king of residuals and lease payments here.
Every manufacturer is guilty of the “same sausage, different length” design to some extent. Lexus grafts their spindle grill on everything. Ford with the trapezoidal grill. Acura had the beak. Mazda with “kodo.”
The Germans, particularly Audi and BMW, basically invented it and take it to the extreme. They are also more conservative due to the obvious risk of screwing up the design for everything they sell. See Acura beak and Mazda smiley face.
In person Audi’s are a handsome car and they will look that way for years to come. As an ex A3 owner I still have a soft spot for them. Just wish I could afford one that I’d want, Avant with a manual.
I’m fine with Audis staying pretty much the same for a while yet. They’re easily the best looking cars currently in production, IMO.
