A preview of what’s to come for Audi’s four-door sedans and estates, the Audi Prologue Avant Concept debuted at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show.
Power for the Prologue Avant comes from the Q7 e-tron quattro’s 3-liter V6 diesel and electric motor, collectively driving 455 horses and 553 lb-ft of torque to all four corners. Zero to 62 comes in 5.1 seconds, and top speed is limited to 155 mph. Range is 33.6 miles in all-electric mode.
The concept comes in at 16.8 feet in length with a width of 6.5 feet, putting it within the footprint of the A8. Other features include carbon fiber ceramic brakes, adaptive air suspension, flexible OLED displays, and a “butler” that can ID all of the Prologue Avant’s occupants based on their smartphones.

Gahd dammet, we do not have to wagonhatch everything. The A8 should ALWAYS be a long, executive class sedan. Leave the trendy to the A7, the lesser car.
“and a ‘butler’ that can ID all of the Prologue Avant’s occupants based on their smartphones.”
So Audi drivers don’t identify their passengers before they get in their car? They just let the car do it? Good luck using MMI to sync two new contacts.
What is the point of that exactly? Why does the nav system or stereo need to know who else is in the car? The only thing that matters is the driver.
Maybe so they can tag everyone in Instagram posts and such.
UGH.
Well as long as driving is the furthest thing from their minds! Bring on the #infotainment.
I will look forward to seeing all of this whiz bang crap fail. Just the other day bro commented on the standard Sync system in the MY14 Police Explorers (which the MY13 Tauri do not have). Evidently there is a bug when it drives next to another Ford, the Sync pops on and “syncs” to the radio station in the other car. Apparently this annoys him, and he prefers his MY13 Taurus. He also noted the Explorer is “pursuit rated” but isn’t very good in a pursuit, he said it’s akin to driving a minivan at high speeds whereas the Taurus has a much better feel.
That’s weird. I’ve never had that happen in the 30+ Ford vehicles I’ve driven in the last couple years.
I’d like the Taurus better as a pursuit vehicle, but I know why departments buy the Explorer. It’s a swiss army knife for them. It’s good enough at everything cops do that it is now the default choice. It’s still a pursuit upgrade over the Crown Vic. Plus, the 2016 Police Explorer gets some nice upgrade; bigger brakes, larger srings, beefier subframe and mounts, and better engine cooling. I am interested in the “pursuit mode”, which activates automatically when an officer stomps on the gas, brake, or takes a hard corner. Plus, it’s now J-turn optimized!
Try an MY14 D3 example, he told me the Sync became standard in that year but his dept has stopped buying Tauruses and switched to Explorers (so maybe its a Explorer thing). He claims the reason for the switch is the Taurus’ center console is too large and the interior dimensions do not accommodate more portly officers with their belts and other worn equipment.
I’m driving a 2014 Flex today. I haven’t driven the police spec Explorer though.
The Explorer also holds alot more gear at a more accessable height. Plus, it’s easier to spy on people.
Speaking of D3 sedans, I am getting tempted by a 2013 MKS ecoboost with 22K miles. The salesman at the Lincoln dealership knows I have a thing for super clean off lease Lincolns. It’s listed at almost $30K, but he’d come down closer to 20 than 30.

@bball
Range is 20 to mid 25s up to 40K miles, with mid 23s to 25s for extra clean. After 40K it dips below 20, but that’s a sucker buy given the homogeneous figures for the low mile’d examples. The smart money buys at 25 with sub 10K otc, don’t even bother with anything over 20K miles, the price is immaterial. AWD kicks it up a notch as expected. If we look at MY10 FWD we see returns of 10,3 for low avg to 18,4 for the choice clean car with low miles. Assuming a 25K valuation after two model years, I would expect to lose a further 30-50% off of the 20-25 figure over the next four model years with avg miles (12/year), since even the exceptional clean outlier lost 30% @40K otc and the worst performing rough example 70% @ 124K. I would expect the rough example to do closer to 55-60% if it had been clean for the miles (rough can mean many different problems, cosmetic or mechanical hence the steep drop). CD3 Zephyr is probably a better buy over the long haul from a parts/maint standpoint.

However if you could obtain say an MY11 D3 for mid 15s and low miles (<40), it may make an interesting proposition assuming you can deal with the platform's quirks.
2013 are probably too new for my price range right now. I’d perfer a 2011 at 40k miles like you mention. I don’t mind the platform, and know it’s weaknesses well. When MY13 Ecoboost models drop below $20K, I’ll be a buyer.
I already started the ticking clock for a MY15 or MY16 Navigator. Sales have been up 100% in the last few months. It’ll be nice to actually have some Navi inventory in 3-4 years when my wife will want to replace the MkT.
Once the model is discontinued, the valuations typically drop 5-10% fairly quickly. I would expect this to happen sometime soon unless FoMoCo plans for an MY17 for it.
The MKS will stick around as a stretched MKZ, at least for now. The MkT is dead and will be replaced by the Aviator. So ends the D-platform Lincolns.
I’m not sure what would happen to the existing examples if the model is not discontinued but the platform would be, I suppose it depends on how successful the new platform is in sales.
What is the point of this thing, agree with the above…. This is nothing more than a stretched tarted-up A7.
Might as well just make a glass trunklid – Same storage capacity as a traditional boot, but the thieves can take a gander to see if they want to smash it in.
Is it me or does anyone else sees some Ford Fusion in the front
A little bit, yes.
“Prologue” is a great name for a car, even better for a concept car.
Sadly, if Saab makes another model, it could be called the “Epilogue”.
