Though the festivities have truly yet to begin, a few images and details from the 2015 Geneva Auto Show are coming out from behind the curtain. First up: the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman.
The big daddy of all Mercedes-based limos, the Pullman is a full 3.5 feet longer than the standard S-Class, big enough to accommodate four standard seats facing each other in the back. Other configurations are available if you need more room for groupies and/or dignitaries and/or ultra-alpha Wall Street types, however.
Power for the Pullman comes from a twin-turbo V12 delivering 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque, though ‘Ring times aren’t this limo’s raison d’être. Aside from emphasizing luxury over everything else, it can also be had with body armor for those whose stations in life merit extra protection, and the aforementioned seats are positioned so the adoring (or blood-thirsty) public cannot see who’s inside.
As for the price, the S600 Pullman will move for $500,000 to $600,000 sans said body armor.
What does a Mercedes-Maybach have to do with Grace Jones?
If Daimler’s ad agency sees this, something could happen. Also: Glad you picked up the reference. ;)
I love me some Grace Jones. She certainly helped make A View to a Kill better.
Scientists say that car is actually blue and black, but the image is overexposed, making it appear gold.
This is JUST tragic looking. The chrome, that yacht-appropriate side marker light, the lower panel sporty character line which gets much too tall because of the length of the thing, the fact that it’s premium beige.
Never mind, put little red flags on the front fenders and it’s ready to go.
Yikes. That looks like an aftermarket limo conversion for patrons with questionable tastes.
Donald Trump will take his with gold trim.
That is one seriously ugly despot-mobile.
Anyone with good aesthetics knows horizontal wood slat blinds are the only way to roll, too.
Not to mention the wood is easily swapped out with the customer’s choice of metal, precious or otherwise, depending on their luxury/safety needs.
This week in high-centering, the new Mercedes Pullman enters a driveway.
I would assume the height-adjustable suspension can be raised enough to traverse curbs in urban areas. Potentates in Carbombya and the like are advised to purchase the GL 6×6.
That rear door is so long I wonder if they would be better suited to have doors like the Avantime.
Ditch the wheels too.
It’s UGLY in a way that Cadillac-one is not.
Even the MkT limo looks better.
Wow, how fugly!
Not much thought went into its design. Boy, you wonder what some of the designers are thinking.
They must of used on of those fish you see in a fish tank that suck on rocks looking for algae as a basis for design.
Or, the really rich don’t care about design, only name.
The biggest hurtle still remains: smuggling or middle-manning these beasts in order to bypass UN sanctions and get them into the arms of eagerly awaiting dictators.
I suddenly feel the urge to become a dictator.
Makes the S550 look like a bargain! The S550 has an awesome interior and an awesome engine! Too each his own! Too bad many of the people who enjoy these cars are corrupt and sick! Although I could say the same about many cars!
VIP curtains, FTW Yo!
