Bringing the first press day of the 2015 New York Auto Show to a close in cinematic fashion comes the Rolls-Royce Wraith ‘Inspired By Film’ edition.
Honoring the automaker’s cinematic history in films like “Goldfinger,” “The Thomas Crowne Affair” and “The Great Gatsby,” the Wraith was built for a short film to coincide with the original model’s launch, “And the World Stood Still,” which was recently accepted by the British Film Institute National Archives according to AutoGuide.
Under the hood is a 624-horsepower twin-turbo V12, while the inside is adorned in Anthraite leather with Casden Tan accents and Maccassar Ebony open pore paneling, all draped in two-tone silver and jubilee silver paint, and topped with a solid silver “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament.
And with this one, the queen of the castle leaves the building. DK will take you through the second day of New York Auto Show coverage for 2015. See you Monday!
Thank you very much Cameron! Great work as always.
You’re welcome! Have fun tomorrow!
Indeed. Thanks for the articles, Cameron.
Huh. I figured it was to commemorate that little remembered cinematic masterpiece, The Wraith.
Rolls-Royce and Bugatti have more one-offs than all the other brands combined. And as well they should, I suppose. But what happens to them. Do they get auctioned off, or do the respective companies store them in a warehouse somewhere?
They’re pre-sold to billionaires who hire homeless people to drive them in exclusive, underground demolition derbies. Vast sums are bet on the outcome.
Hey, this gives me the idea for a movie…!
I’m a big fan of open pore panelling. Kudos.
Open pore? Has somebody been squeezing blackheads?
Just come from Youtube, every Earl’s Court guested a roller.
Love those old Leyland tube ads.. Austin Marina – beauty by brains.. Anybody Stateside recall that POS?
Looks like a Lincoln Continental.
The name is very corny, though the interior is beautiful (minus the constellation headliner – this isn’t a Town Car limo). But when it comes down to it, I don’t want my RR inspired by film. I want it inspired by Britishness, and money.
I want “The Grapes of Wraith” edition.
The Grapes of Wraith edition will be all around in the dark.
It’ll be eveywhere — wherever you look.
Wherever there is a fight so hungry people can eat, It’ll be there.
Wherever there is a cop beatin’ up a guy, It’ll be there.
It’ll be in the way kids laugh when they’re hungry and they know supper’s ready.
And when our folks eat the stuff they raise and live in the houses they build — why, It’ll be there
Or, it will just be haunted by the ghost of Tom Joad.
