Audi will release a sedan version of its uber-A4 sometime next year, Autocar is reporting.
Audi has already confirmed that the RS4 would be released as a wagon because “that is what people expect from the RS4,” head of Audi’s Quattro Heinz Hollerweger told Car and Driver this month.
That’s on top of speculation that the RS4 could come to the States and China as a Sportback, similar to the RS7 already on sale. And, of course, we could always get the RS5 like we did last time.
Regardless of which body goes where, it appears that the RS4 will be powered by a turbocharged V-6 that will pack more than 420 horsepower. The force-fed six appears to be Audi’s performance engine of the future, after bosses said that mill would make an appearance in an upcoming R8.
Audi executives said the RS4 should come earlier in the A4’s lifecycle, perhaps around the same time as the S4, which is expected next year.
If only there was a Dodge Magnum Hellcat.
Audi > Dodge.
A Magnum would end up at a local “Buy Here Pay Here” on Wang Chung brand tires in less than 5 years. An Audi needs at least 8 years to reach that point!
Ideally, four years before that the Audi will wind up at Carmax and I will seriously consider getting every penny’s worth out of an extended warranty.
Hey my S4 is 15 years old and its regressed from Michelins to BFG Sport Comps to Yokohamas, so Fierce Instinct is looking like the next logical tire. But I think Fierce Instinct must be a DOT approved track tire because they have flames on the side.
I googled that tire, and the Walmart description is hilarious:
“The Dunlop Fierce Instinct ZR 235 55ZR17 Tire is a splendid tire with a smarter look to complement its good looks.”
Excuse me Walmart?
Walmart now imports its marketing from China.
You get what you pay for. Saw an e46 with linglong tires. I wanted to cry
Linglong?!!? WTF?
Firestone Wide Ovals are like $80 a tire for that car. At least buy those.
Audi < SRT HELLCAT
I don’t recall ever seeing one being sold anywhere but a Buy Here Pay Here lot, usually with badly adhered portholes and terrible-looking rims.
I figured there was a limit to the depths of BTSR’s tackiness. I was misled.
Ahhh, portholes. Because, everybody wants a Buick! I think a set of ventiports comes included with the rim kits.
S4 wagon please.
Hey I’d be all over a regular A4 Avant with a manual. Doesn’t even have to be brown.
Did the US ever get the last RS4?
I am always confused on what RSwhatevers are released in the US and which are not.
Also when they actually are released (worldwide) as Audi/everyone always seems to be talking about them years before they actually come out.
WHY?!?
Why does Audi have such an intense fear of selling wagons in the US.
subaru shovels tens of thousands of those friggin Outbacks every year.
Audi treats wagons like gay cousin at a Catholic family gathering, right down tu cutting them out of family photos.
I am really getting to hate the brand of the bland sedan, formerly known as Audi
I have the RS6 and would have bought the RS5 if its backseat didn’t have such terrible headroom. I really hope they don’t ruin the rs4…
