Mitsubishi in Canada on Monday posted a teaser shot of the rear end of the new Mitsubishi Attrage that’ll make its debut in Toronto at the 2016 Canadian International Auto Show next month before it goes on sale in the U.S. and Canada.
Mitsubishi’s spokesman John Arnone posted a picture of himself standing next to the sedan at a shoot in Vancouver, which doesn’t really leave much to question. It’s clearly the small sedan, which will be one of two new models bound for Canada and the U.S. in 2016.
Perhaps next we’ll get a teaser of the Outlander PHEV’s roof with a Tim Horton’s coffee cup sitting on it. Thrilling stuff.
Mitsubishi officials in the U.S. confirmed the small car would go on sale in the U.S. this spring as the Mirage G4. It’s unclear when the Canadian version will go on sale, and whether it’ll be called the Mirage G4 or Attrage.
We’ll have to wait and see about pricing because Canada’s small car wars are fascinating.
The Canadian International Auto Show begins Feb. 12 in Toronto

Those Canadians stand weirdly. That’ll give ya scoliosis.
Long live the Purp Ice Mitsubishi Triage!
More Mitsubishi crackerboxes in unfortunate colors! Just what I wanted!
Wait… Mitsubishi still sells cars? In the US?
They have several vehicles, including the Mirage, and 12 versions of Outlander.
This also describes the available stock in the side lot at the typical Subaru/GMC/Jeep/Mitsubishi dealer.
It will sell as well as a brand new apple G4 computer would if introduced today along side the skylake systems. A friend told me that Mitsubishi is prime time with buyers in the sub prime loan territory, so maybe I’m wrong.
Hey, I’d buy a brand new G4 if I could. It’d be like finding a brand new 356 next to the 911s and Panameras.
There is something fundamentally sad about the staged photograph of a company higher-up attempting to look proud next to a depressing b-class sedan that is also the freshest thing in their stale, withering North American lineup. Car cover lifted up in a tease to reveal a truly generic tail lamp
“Yeah, you like a little bit of this? Like what you see? Getting you all hot and bothered like when you first saw a 2007 Yaris? Just wait until the whole sheet comes off…”
hahah love it
Well, you gotta start somewhere.
LOL
My image search, to help me think of familiar shapes after seeing the photo: 2003 Echo.
Googled Attrage, you’re right. It’s the new Echo updated with a stupidly modern beltline.
I find it difficult to believe that the CEOs of Mitsubishi Canada and US driving their companies cars.
They work for Mitsubishi. Do you really think they have a FICO above 400?
Since they already have the Outlander, shouldn’t the sedan be named the Outrage?
Was Outhouse taken?
Attrage sounds like a surgical procedure nobody wants to have.
To those with poor credit: the line forms to the rear, thank you!
Hey, look it here, now we know what Toyota did with the discontinued Echo assembly equipment, a spitting image. Should call it Mitsubishi Throwback.
Googled this thing and wooooooooooooof. Looks very developing nations. Does not look like something for the US market. Will probably outsell the hatchback however. God only knows why.
It’s an invented word, brings to mine “outrage”, “arbitrage”, and “atrocious”.
Nothing good about it, at all. (At least it wasn’t called the Mysterious Utility Wizard or the Life Dunk!)
The Attrage echos the Echo but what did the Echo echo in the first place? Cozy Coupe?
Ha! I didn’t know Mitsu still sold cars in the USA. Can we please get a modern Montero SR and Starion please.
In the early 90’s KIA started selling the Sephia. They sold well and helped them expand their lineup. Look where they are now. Mitsubishi is doing something similar to reboot themselves. If it worked for KIA, why can’t it work for Mitsubishi? They are planning to bring the Montero back and possibly the Montero Sport. They are also trying to get a midsize sedan on order. I think they will make a comeback.
It will probably be a solid competitor for the Nissan Versa…except without the Nissan’s peeling paint and the piston slap on the #3 cylinder.
I actually HAVE a ’15 Mirage and love it. It has 30k, and has averaged 48 mpg. It has needed nothing but oil changes. Want more car? Spend more money.
PS: My credit is fine. It’s not 2002 anymore, and Mitsubishi learned their lesson about sub-prime lending with their infamous Zero/Zero/Zero deal.
Now…flame on!
