Today, Honda is expected to take the wraps off the new Honda Civic Hatchback via live stream on YouTube prior to showing the car at the New York International Auto Show later this week. The Japanese automaker also promises to show a surprise: a “race car” announcement rumored to be based on the NSX.

2:24: Well, it isn’t the production hatchback. It’s the Civic Hatchback Prototype we saw in Geneva. But there looks to be two more vehicles up on the stage …
2:26: Starting this fall, all turbo 1.5-liter models will be available with a six-speed manual!
2:28: Here comes the Honda Racing announcement …
2:31: Honda will compete in Global Rally Cross with the Honda Civic Coupe, and here it is! 600+ horsepower, 0-60 in 2 seconds.

Ha ha, we tricky you! Civic SI hatchback is race car!
Corey, I like your comments but, like, what do you DO? What do you do that you can be the first poster on, like, every single article on TTAC in addition to responding to every other comment?? I already feel like I’m taking too much time from work to post this.
I work in the reinsurance area of a life insurance company. I am A) very good at managing time and B) not that busy at work. :)
My email updates automatically with comments, and I like reading.
In other words, you do nothing…
Well you do know my life. I hope you’re not an accurate representation of Swedish people with your hatred and racism.
HER: What do you do?
28: As little as possible.
Don’t take it personally. All insurance people produce pretty much nothing. Insurance is a pyramid. Something Bernie Madoff went to jail for. Insurance takes money from all to pay out to few while keeping excess in their pockets. Amish people are much better at this. If your house burns, they collect funds “on-demand”, when needed, and don’t keep a huge chunk that then goes to lobbies to lobby what kind cars we need to buy.
Actually, economists who study the insurance industry have found it to be an important enabler of developed economies. By taking the risk out of people’s lives, it allows them to take economic risks (i.e., entrepreneurial) that spur growth.
Think of it like this: If you spent all day worrying what would happen if your house burned down or your car was totaled, you’d just take a low risk job. But when you no longer have these concerns because you are insured, you are free to start a new business.
But feel free to put people down for their work. Whatever makes you feel better about yourself.
Except, Slavuta – I work for a life insurance company. We also have retirement products, so people can save money for their retirement. They’re even in control of their own investments if they want to be.
VoGo’s points are great as well.
Also, I really like that retro brown Civic 15 Years logo. But the tour is 15 years? Or 15 years since the Civic was a reasonable shape?
The Bigtruckseriesreview Motorsports show will be delivering live coverage from the NYIAS this weekend.
I wish they’d keep the wraps on the Civic Hatchback.
Nick Jonas!!? This event must be HUUUUGE!
I checked out – and sat in – the Civic hatchback at the Geneva show a few weeks ago. The lower cladding is overdone, but otherwise it seems like a very nice car.
Four doors.
Thank you very much, Honda, for finally acknowledging that two-doors need to go away.
Honda did no such thing – the Coupe is still available.
What they did do was finally step to the Focus, Mazda 3, Corolla and Impreza – all available with hatchbacks. And unless you’re counting the old Wagovan/4wd models, this is the first four-door Civic hatchback available in America.
The last 2016 civic review (jalopnik) I read said, and I quote:
“There’s no physical buttons for the A/C controls, just a button that says “climate” and triggers those operations on the touch screen. There’s no radio volume buttons on the dash when the big touch screen is opted for, either. And that slidey volume switch on the left side of the steering wheel? You’ll hit that with your thumb a lot by mistake.”
FAIL
This is what I think when I think Civic hatch, and this is roughly what should be built.

Honda has jumped the shark with this generation of Civic, IMO. Sales will putter for a while because of lemming buys but I wouldn’t expect much new growth.
Lol coffee can and blade ground effects included?
Fart cans and ground effects, standard.
Ricer mods not withstanding this is a correct Civic hatchback. When Honda makes a 3 door, turbo Si my wife will revisit the showroom. Actually strike that given “ant”‘s comments above. When Honda gives us buttons back then we might visit the showroom. This touchscreen all the time non-sense needs to stop. Cool to see Honda trying to get their racing cred back with Rally Cross.
I recall when Focus ST came out with the twin exhaust and Honda fanboys like CJ said that was a crap idea as you couldn`t fit a bike rack. Well now Honda is doing that. Where is CJ by the way, his ban has expired.
He was actually permabanned, reportedly not just because of the comments but because of e-mails exchanged afterwards.
