Anything about whether those invitations can be revoked if you paste them all over the internet?
Email address blurred out as a courtesy to them.
Will the evil Sanjeev have access to the car? I always hated that guy.
He will burn in hell before he gets to touch it.
Congratulations to your brother. If I could buy any car I wanted, the GT would be it.
Indeed. I’m not much of a supercar fan, but the GT really toasts my bagel.
Does Sanjay need a new BFF? I’m totally available.
This smells to high heaven. Filling out the form sounds like it’s research commissioned by Ford to gauge something something totally unrelated to your actually being “allowed” to buy one. I seriously doubt filling out the form gets you to step 2 which is actually purchasing.
I’m damn sure Shieks and celebs have already put in deposits on the entire foreseeable production.
This is already step two in the process. Ford made people submit applications to buy the GT and are picking people from that pool.
OK, then. That was Step 2. Let’s see if we get to Step 3,then…
Care to make a wager?
Congratulations, I look forward to the ensuing articles.
There’s still something that really puts me off about a company fielding your worthiness to purchase one of their products, though.
“Swear your allegiance before me and prove your fealty to the crown! Do it! Only then will you be allowed the privilege to pay full price for the King’s depreciating assets. I get the pleasure of watching you line up before me and your jealous friends will never know how pathetically you had to grovel for the bright shiny in your garage…”
At least this is being built. cough Tesla couch
Yeah, I feel you on that… but if they’re only making X number of them and the demand is there for 2X or 8X of them, how else are they going to make sure the buyers are legit?
Side note: I can’t wait to read about it (since I’ll never own one)!

Actually, think of it this way: the production GT is a LeMans homologation. It’s probably, from a costs and production standpoint, a money-losing proposition, even at over $400K a pop. So, Ford would like to maximize the GT’s impact. Rather than having all of the examples go to rich trust-fund brats who will destroy them or apathetic investors who’ll put them in storage facilities, never to be seen again…why wouldn’t Ford carefully select people who’ll be brand ambassadors: people in motorsports, or famous enthusiasts (Jay Leno), or at least enthusiasts who will enthusiastically show off the car and demonstrate its capabilities.
This is much more reasonable than what I posted and I’m sure you are correct.
It’s just a different world from mine, where I would burnish my credentials and achievements in order to earn university scholarships and graduate intern positions rather than the opportunity to spend money.
Congrats to I presume DoctorV8. Although I still think he needs a Lambo LM002 via Europe ;)
Meanwhile us mere mortals can only hope and dream…:)
Congratulations!
(Can I drive it?)
Why so you can crash it? I knew this site was becoming like Jalopnik….terrible.
I would like to propose a new feature, similar to what you were doing a while ago where contributors would review reader’s cars, only it would be readers reviewing contributors cars. DoctorV8 counts as a contributor in this case, and I can be that reviewer.
How about reviving where readers review their own cars?

Make sure they include the floormats, Deluxe paint sealant and a full tank of gas…
So who’s boss you gotta talk to to get $100 off that TruCoat? Bill Ford?
All I got for my Model 3 pre-order was a credit card invoice from Tesla, and an e-mail saying ‘stand by’.
DrV8 is paying 10X what you are. You also get better service at Loius Vuitton than at Walmart.
This really should have been a Lincoln.
The flying buttresses coulda arched into a Continental kit!
Ooh Sanjay, order the ’66 Heritage model! Congrats Doc!
Stay in school, kids.
This does not surprise me, as Dr. Sanjay is a real enthusiast for these cars. Congratulations!
Congrats to the good doctor! Like that old 80’s poster, this is yet another “Justification for higher education”.
My wife had that poster in her room when we met in the 80s. She went on to get her PhD and makes a ton of dough now.
Me, on the other hand…
At least I married well.
Counterpoint, a guy that plays video games on Youtube for a living and has 10 million followers got one too, so…
If anything the vast amount of money people on YouTube, Vine, Instagram, Kardashians etc make is proving that higher education and the vast amount of debt that comes with it these days is becoming less and less justified. There’s a 19 year old kid on YouTube and Vine that drives an R8, bought his dad a new Z06 and lives in a $5,000 a month apartment in Los Angeles if that doesn’t depress you enough.
What are the chances Jack gets to properly test this vehicle?
P.S. congrats!
P.S.S. I created account just to post this so you know it’s a serious question. Inquiring minds want the TRUTH about this fine new Ford.
Chances are 100 percent.
I’m looking forward to both your and Dr. V8’s versions of what happened.
I suspect the illustrious R&T editor won’t be needing my help to drive a GT, but I am around if needed.
That thing looks like a perfectly good car that got put on Kepler 10c.
IT AIN’T NO HELLCAT!!!
Somebody had to say it.
BUT
IT
HAS
TWIN
HAIR-DRYERS
I’m very elated.
I would propose that you and Adam get a ride as proper remuneration for the services you provide TTAC daily.
All he needs is $400K. I’m sure all the writers at TTAC are of an income level that such an amount would be mere pocket change.
…so, yeah: ingot silver, frozen white stripes, matte carbon lowers, silver/titanium wheels, silver calipers, and re-entry interior, because it’s f*cking houston and every bit of heat gain you can avoid is imperative…
DAMN!!!!
You will have to sell the mark viii and take out a second mortgage, or you could buy a crappy Sable;-)
Nothing will stop me from getting The Sable That I Deserve.
Unfortunately for you, she seems to be married.

That’s fine, I can still do better.
(This is a running gag between me and my so-called friends.)
Hopefully they can fill the GT orders more reliably than orders for the Focus RS.
(Good news, Sir! Your new Ford GT will be a 2019 model!)
All that money and he bought a Taurus powered Ford?
http://www.lamborghini.com
http://www.ferrari.com
http://www.porsche.com
http://www.pagani.com
The Mehta family has a proclivity for Ford products for reasons I don’t quite understand (but respect).
Assuming you could get one at all—because, again, Pagani models are also limited-production—what Pagani costs anything near half a million dollars? They seem to cost over a million.
He also bought an F-150 powered Ford supercar, too.
Have them all except a Pagani, and unless you spend 7 figures, none of them make a car that touches the new GT on track. And it looks better than any supercar I’ve ever seen in the flesh.
“If no, please list the location in which the car will primarily be operated in:”
Ouch.
This is huge but really what are you going to write about?
“THIS THING IS OUTLANDISH” “INSERT BOILER PLATE TOP GEAR QUOTE”
“CUPHOLDERS RATED FOR 215mph”
I am looking forward to pictures and the Ford purchasing process more than anything.
Wow, somebody is living right! Congrats to him. Cant wait for the write up.
Congratulations, doctorv8. It’s safe to say that your and Sajeev’s stable is the modern representation of the Henry Ford museum.
It will be, once I find a Sable worthy of inclusion into the collection.
The Henry Ford has a sweet first gen Taurus.

It’s the reason why I mentioned my bizarre need for a Sable.
Is the good doctor still working? with that kind of disposable income i would have thrown in the hat on my day job hahah
Congrats!
Oh yes…..gotta pay the bills on this sucker and still be able to retire one day. Also, zapping tumors is kinda fun.
