The ongoing federal probe into bribery, money laundering, and embezzlement among UAW officials marches on, with former president Gary Jones being the latest figure hit with charges. While expensive villa rentals and tony hooch seemed to be common expenditures among UAW brass with ill-gotten financial gains, the scandal also highlighted a certain piece of lakefront property.

That property, as well as the spacious home built on it, is something the UAW would rather not have anything to do with. It can now be yours.

As reported by The Detroit News, the United Auto Workers listed the former home of ex-prez Dennis Williams this week. Visited not too long ago by FBI and IRS agents, the roughly 2,000-foot dwelling on Michigan’s Black Lake sits on 7 acres and 750 feet of shoreline carved from the UAW’s existing Onaway property.

While the union funded the construction of the home as a present to Williams, a media investigation later showed the UAW hired non-union labor to lower build costs. Hardly a showpiece for the bonds of brotherhood. As the federal probe, which has thus far convicted 13 individuals (10 of them UAW officials), revealed the callous disregard for member’s dues and livelihoods among some officials, the decision was made to quietly offload the lake home.

If you like lakes and wood panelling, Williams’ former abode seems like a nice place to spend a languid summer’s day, or, say, wait out a viral epidemic while zealously protecting your stockpile of canned goods and Purell with an over/under Beretta shotgun. The UAW’s former VP knows about those.
