Today President Joe Biden committed to cutting U.S. fossil fuel emissions up to 52 percent by 2030. His statement came during a virtual climate change summit with 40 world leaders.
Presidents Xi Jinping of China and Vladimir Putin of Russia both committed to working on cutting emissions. In a call to action, Biden said, “The signs are unmistakable. The science is undeniable. The cost of inaction keeps mounting.”
The Biden administration’s return to global climate efforts marked a sharp departure from withdrawal under former President Trump.
First, the Biden plan calls for the U.S. to embrace clean energy, and renovate our electrical grid. Next, we would create batteries for use at home and abroad, and last, we would give up oil and gas exploration and coal mining. Japan announced a 46 percent emissions reduction as its goal. South Korea, not to be left out, said it would stop public financing of new coal-fired power plants. Climate advocacy groups are hoping these proclamations will reduce China and Japan’s use of coal.
Despite technical glitches during the opening of the virtual summit, it did attract many of the world’s most powerful leaders. The pandemic made gathering world leaders too risky. The coronavirus continues to hamper efforts to have meaningful, spontaneous conversations and negotiations. The summit did fulfill Biden’s campaign promise to confront climate change head-on. Biden’s $2 trillion package includes revamping our transportation system, electrical grid, and infrastructure.
China, which discharges more emissions than any other country, said in its opening statement, “To protect the environment is to protect productivity, and to boost the environment is to boost productivity. It’s as simple as that.”
Putin made no mention of his disagreements with Biden, when he said, “Russia is genuinely interested in galvanizing international cooperation so as to look further for effective solutions to climate change as well as to all other vital challenges.” Russia is said to be the fourth-largest emitter of fossil fuel fumes.
The Biden plan would be the U.S.’ most aggressive climate effort ever, even more so than Obama administration reductions in the 2015 Paris climate accord. German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed the U.S. back into the accord after Trump pulled out, boosted oil and gas production, and disregarded the science underlying climate warnings.

So. Does anyone want Trump back?
Anyone with an ounce of common sense does.
And anyone with even 1.1 of them ounces, would gladly take the Taliban over either.
what do you think, Taliban is bad? With Taliban, you don’t need to lock your door, your car, your garage. Nobody will come to your property and steal anything. They are also totally “equal opportunity” people. Take Islam and go on with your life – you can have 2,3,4 wives…
lol…yeah, that’s exactly how the Taliban operates.
Just say that Antifa is an American Taliban. Bring troops back to USA to fight Taliban.
The Taliban may have their idiosyncrasies, but at least they’re competent at something. Which puts them many heads and an awful lot of shoulders, above anything left of the once-was-West.
slavuta,
Yes, the Taliban is bad. They won’t let the people grow opium to help finance a certain charitable branch of the US government.
We read that the Germans and the rest of the Europeans were all out dancing in the streets when Trump lost. Is that consistent with the man on the street view as well in your opinion? Genuinely interested.
@Rick T.
Yes, that is true (except for the dancing aspect).
The German mainstream media is overwhelmingly [extremist] left, socialistic and green and were by default anti-Trump. I do not consume them, I inform myself using alternative news sources. During the Clinton vs Trump elections, the German media arrogantly proclaimed that Trump had no chance of winning and the Hillary Clinton was basically the next and new president. The news coverage was positive in regards to Clinton, and negative in regards to Trump. Several talk shows even invited registered Republican Americans who live in Germany where they were forced to argue against five other pro-Hillary supporters, basically a one-sided talk show designed to influence the brainless masses out there into believing that Hillary was an angel and Trump is the devil.
When the COVID outbreak occurred and Trump closed the US borders to flights from China, the German press went into a frenzy labeling him a ‘racist’ and ‘human rights violator’. A few weeks later, Kim Jong Merkel did the same thing and our hypocritical press labeled her as a sort of ‘protector of the nation’. It was so pathetic. And the dumb masses in this country didn’t see the obvious comparison.
During the Biden vs Trump elections, the media here reported only positively about Biden. They did not mention his seemingly mental lapses, the shady business dealings of his son in the Ukraine, the laptop affair and so forth. In regards to Trump, the press coverage was negative. I recall that during election several German TV channels had documentaries running which tried to paint Donald Trump as a supporter of the KKK and other racist groups. Right after these documentaries came a documentary about Hitler, and of course they showed clips of random (which I assume were Democrat Americans) being asked if Trump is like Hitler or worse. It was absolutely pathetic and embarrassing how they tried to influence the German public into believing that Trump is the reincarnation of the absolute evil himself.
As a former CSU/CDU (formerly a conservative right party, but after 16 years of Merkel it’s been turned into a very left-wing political party) voter, the only political party I can vote for is the AfD (which is the new conservative right). The overwhelming AfD voters were pro-Trump, because we have a “Germany First” mentality.
Germany is set on a path of self-destruction. It appears as if the dumb, brainwashed masses in this once great nation are voting Green. That means more eco-craziness, Gender insanity, more ‘migration’ from primitive people who come here purely for social benefits and of course more anti-car and individual mobility measures and a speed limit on my beloved Autobahn. Terrible times ahead.
I largely agree though I am not familiar with your nation’s politics.
@28 Cars Later,
For the last 16 years Merkel has run this country into the ground. Under her reign of terror our taxes have significantly increased, our infrastructure has fallen apart, our military has equipment which does not function thanks to massive budget cuts, inner safety has taken a dive and the radical left ANTIFA has come out of their caves to terrorize the conservatives and anyone else who disagrees with our ‘god chancellor’.
I fear Biden and Harris will have the same effect on the US.
“I largely agree though I am not familiar with your nation’s politics.”
I dunno. Sounds to me like it’s pretty much the same as here from what he’s saying?
loved that world leaders pic where theyre all staring at him and he has his typical retarded/gassy facial expression.
Yeah. Except what you DIDN’T see is they were all laughing together either right before or right after that. Mission accomplished!
ThomasSchiffer,
don’t worry. I’ve heard Putin gives some support to Alternative Germany – are they really right or fake right like in Israel right?
Germans calling others racist – this is funny even. Did I hear right that in the good old Deutchland a new movement gains strength, something like – “be proud of you SS grandpa”?? true?
Yea, Germany definitely becomes pathetic. I can tell by your Bundesteam. Only few native Germans and those who are not – they don’t sing the anthem. This is horrible. Ever seen how Italians sing theirs?
But don’t you worry. When things become real bad, Russia will enter Berlin once again and save you once more. This is historical tradition of the passed 200 years. And in addition to Alexander Platz you will get Putin Platz or whoever will be next.
Cool…you going to build another wall to keep them all in your little utopia?
Art,
you are unskillful “historian”.
“you going to build another wall ” – you probably mean soviet built Berlin wall.
Let me give you yet another excursion into history: Germans built this wall. And they would build it way earlier if Soviets permitted it. Most Americans (and you including) (I am totally guessing now) probably think that here come the war end, 1945… build the wall. The wall came up only in 1961. And again was pushed by Germans, not Soviets.
My bad. I forgot the Soviets were the good guys. Yeah, the whole of the eastern bloc was I’m sure.in no way influenced by Moscow and that whole Berlin Airlift thing was just the US being agressive.
But wait, you guys were fighting the Taliban…and you say they are the good guys. Soviet history is so confusing. Thank God it only goes to 1992. And it is all history.
Art,
soviets did not bomb German civilians a-la bomber command in Dresden. I don’t know why. May be because they did not have such bombers. Possible. But UK/US designed a death trap for tens of thousands of German civilians and needlessly murdered them. While Soviet commander Konev always allowed for an exit from surrounded city not to hurt civilians in it. May be this is why you see Prague in its original form.
And if you noticed, Soviets are gone but US is still occupying Germany.
Stalin used to say – Hitlers come and go, German people remain.
Soviet regime was harsh. But US did same to other people. And UK in India, Ireland… phew.
“Russia will enter Berlin once again and save you once more. ”
Yeah, right. The Russian army consists of a bunch of drunken conscripts that will have no will to actually fight. Combine that with inferior and unreliable russion military hardware and they wouldn’t have a chance.
“The Russian army consists of a bunch of drunken conscripts that will have no will to actually fight. Combine that with inferior and unreliable russion military hardware and they wouldn’t have a chance.”
-The Germans in 1941
Wow…I hadn’t noticed that the Soviets had left. It is almost as if they ceased to exist nearly 30 years ago. Almost. And the thing is, if the Germans said “get out” tomorrow, we’d leave. Ask the French. You want the Soviets out? No problem…just wait for the country to collapse.
30,000ish troops occupying the entire country of Germany when their own Army numbers over 180,000 troops. Man, no wonder people are afraid of us…we must be total bada$$e$ to pull that off.
Germany is bottom 3rd tier military. Ranked 15th. US 63,000 troops all over Europe. Nukes. France – top European military, ranked 7th.
Without US, NATO is dead. Turkey is 2nd largest component but I have doubts about their commitment.
God no, waiting for him to die.. then all the other derpwagons in office. they all need to die.
Odds are Sen Biden punches out before Trump, if he hasn’t already.
With Trump or without, please, bring back the Trumpism!!!!
China – 28.5% of world CO2
– 15% of the world GDP
USA – 15% of world CO2
– 23 % of world economy.
But USA must reduce CO2.
Smart Salute – YES ! to Bidet and Chlamydia !!!
How is it that pollution became such inalienable American right in the Republican platform? It’s almost like plumage to show just how anti-left you are. After driving home today behind a 20 year old pickup flying a trump flag burning and spewing so much oil every car 100 yards behind it had to clean their windshield every thirty seconds…..I’ll keep Biden thanks. The only way I’d want Trump back is if I had a bunch of money and needed a presidential pardon in the near future. Or maybe if I was president of the Flat Earth club or something.
“How is it that pollution became such inalienable American right in the Republican platform?”
Because Republicans stopped caring about actual policy for the most part; instead, they started caring about whatever made other people the most upset. (And pollution makes people upset!) This is the party that tried to run a presidential campaign literally without any platform at all except “Cheeto good.”
Most of people I know – yes, they will be happy to see him coming back. People are fed up with Democrats and their sleazy tactics. But I have some reservations – block him away from Twitter account. I do not like too enthusiastic crowd. And dark forces never sleep.
If people were fed up with democrats they wouldn’t have voted Joe Biden in in a landslide.
“they wouldn’t have voted Joe Biden in in a landslide.”
Shifty, I share your sense of humor. Landslide – that’s how it is called now. Reminds me how Putin gets elected for the last 20 years – by landslide. I love it.
when trump won in the same amount of electoral votes he said it was a landslide. was he lying?
The only honest to God landslide I can think of in my lifetime would be Reagan in 1984 when he won 49 states and defeated the recently departed Walter Mondale by over 16 million votes (58% to 40%). I wouldn’t say 2020 was a squeaker, but a landslide? No.
Who said Biden won? He was installed. At least Putin knows who he is and where he is. Biden sometimes ran for congress, others for vice president to president Harris.
“Who said Biden won?”
Well, the ex-president’s 70 plus losses in court trying to prove fraud would be proof enough for most people.
A certified electoral college vote is another.
“Who said Biden won?”
A whole bunch of professional state elections officials, many of whom were Republicans.
Then, when they were dragged to court, every single state and federal court to consider the issue, including the Supreme Court (and within the Supreme Court, including all six of the conservative justices).
On the other side you have a bunch of low-rent grifters.
But, sure, stick your head in the sand if you want. It’s your right.
“Who said Biden won? He was installed. ”
I always suspected that he is a poorly written computer program.
Better a computer program than Trump, who appeared to have both the intelligence and the general approach to life of a swarm of angry hornets.
slavuta,
“Who said Biden won?”
Why CNN and the NYT said Biden won. It doesn’t get more, er, uh, authoritative than that. Besides suggesting that the election wasn’t fair is grounds for being called a terrorist (or was that tourist…never could keep ’em straight). It’s high time that Trump’s supporters gracefully concede the 2020 election (you know, like the democrats conceded that Trump won over Hilary). It’s time we all celebrate the leadership of our new leader and teacher: Biden.
I guess I told you:-)
“Why CNN and the NYT said Biden won.”
So did the the Electoral College and the House of Representatives.
Hell no
Embrace clean energy – good
Renovate the electric grid – good
Give up oil and gas exploration, and coal mining – bad
“Create” batteries – what is that? Doesn’t somebody already manufacture batteries in Sparks, NV?
I really wish such initiatives were based on economics and energy independence, rather than the politics of ‘climate change’.
Embrace clean energy – good
Renovate the electric grid – good
Give up oil and gas exploration, and coal mining – bad
Agree with you 1000%
Embrace clean energy – good
Renovate the electric grid – good
Give up oil and gas exploration, and coal mining – bad
Following the logic of said supporters:
Mining for materials to make the batteries for EVs – good
Also, continue the development of hybrids.
You know, I don’t care what party a candidate came from…if they came out and said “Know what, we are spending on renewables, EV’s and even nuclear because the next time someone gets stupid in the Middle East we are going to shrug our shoulders and watch the Chinese People’s Liberation Army deal with it. The fact that it is good for the planet is just a great side benefit” They would have my unwavering support.
I think the people pushing for this stuff miss out on a lot of support by not talking up that angle.
@Art – agreed. If one isn’t dependent on oil then the Middle East becomes a very large useless sandbox for zealots. Alternative energy sources is sound strategicly and economically.
Agreed. And the Iraq war alone was 1.9 Trillion dollars. That doesn’t count what we now and will spend on taking care of over a decades worth of Soldiers that are jacked up in some way from it. Nor the money we spend on a permanent presence there or any of the other engagements we’ve fought.
I’m not a left leaning guy, but given the opportunity, I’d rather those trillions be spent on clean energy, even if it isn’t a perfect solution than running around in various crapholes for 2 decades.
As an aside, again, not the biggest Biden fan in the world, but if he actually ends the Combat Mission in Afghanistan, I tip my hat to him. 2 prior administrations have said they would and did not. I’d just assume my kids not go fight my and in the case of Iraq, my father’s and my wars. Enough is enough.
Every time Trump said “lets move troops out” there was hysteria from left, from pentagon, from cia. They like their opium
What better way to shrug at stupidity in the middle east than unilaterally killing domestic oil and gas to leave said stupidity as the sole source?
It’s not a coincidence that the wars wound down when the fracking started.
@Dan – no need for wars over oil when you don’t need oil.
Russia does not think so. They can’t wait when some more ice melts in the north and they can drill in the ocean for more good stuff.
If Biden had a plan to build an electric charging infrastructure that would support the trucking industry and personal auto charging, it would change the automotive market overnight. Instead, it seems to be fluff talk with no tangible action and results in the US more dependent on others than ever.
This push for electric cars is going to wear off when people realize how awful it is to charge them other than in their own home. Some good used car deals are coming in 3-5yrs.
Trump 2024
Actually, the trucking industry is building out their own charging infrastructure. Same with the auto companies.
“when people realize how awful it is to charge them other than in their own home. ”
I don’t know what your experience with charging away from home has been, but I haven’t had any real problems in almost seven years. What charging standard does your car support?
Clearly you drive a Tesla. I am talking about the person who buys the Mach E, electric Caddy, Volvo, etc… What will those people do? The govt could act and push for a charging infrastructure modeled after Tesla and make it easy for people to adopt electric cars. The poor charging experiences in all the “other than Tesla” electric cars is a problem and will deter adoption of electric cars. Honestly, even Tesla will have problems with crowded chargers. You can’t use two side by side without having the charge rate drop. Govt could do a lot to help build the infrastructure needed for this but I sadly don’t see it yet.
Adding many, many, many more public “fast” chargers would probably be the biggest boost for BEV adoption.
“What charging standard does your car support?”
Hopefully not CHAdeMO.
You can put outlets every 3 inches in your house as demand increases (skyrockets), but eventually you have to upgrade the panel.
You have no idea the demand the trucking industry would put on the grid. And that’s small potatoes compared to combined personal, commercial, gov, etc, EVs.
Yea, electric panel upgrades nearly never come up with these stories but it is almost certainly going to become a thing if all appliances, transportation, and HVAC are moved to electric.
Major glory days coming soon for electricians.
Point is they talk like the power is going to magically appear. That how we know they’re full of sh!t.
I don’t know…I have now wired a couple of 240 volt outlets myself. I think you greatly overestimate the difficulty of running some wire and adding a couple of breakers. I had an electrician friend check out the first one to be sure I didn’t miss anything. It isn’t rocket science, nor is it expensive if you aren’t comfortable doing it on your own. Now if your service is maxed out, that is a problem. But that is going to be a pretty old house at that point and it likely needs electrical upgrades anyway.
I probably would hire it out because home electrical work makes me afraid that I’ll burn my house down.
“Expensive” is on a relative scale though. From what I’m seeing online $300-$900 is the common price range. I can afford it, but that can be walking around money at certain income levels.
As far as panel capacity goes I am far from an expert on the subject, but if a house adds an electric oven, electric dryer, electric furnace, and charging for 2 BEVs what’s the likelihood that even something not very old would need an upgrade?
My outlets are right next to the box and the wall is accessable so in fairness, a best case scenario.
You need 200 Amps minimum. It’s tougher than you think to burn a house down. I got careless, too much coke in the ’80s, grounded a live 40 Amp and killed the transformer on the telephone pole.
Otherwise wear protective gear. That’s your biggest concern.
That is where money needs to be spent if we are going to encourage EV adoption. Not subsidies for purchase. A more robust charging network levels the playing field.
The best way to get people to “go green” is to make it (at least) a zero-sacrifice situation on a micro-level.
I’m good with a battery car eventually but having to give up my nice warm economical gas heat in favor of a heat pump is a bummer. In other news, China is building a “Germany” worth of coal fired electric plants each year….
Is there some sort of breakthrough in heat pump technology? It was my understanding they don’t really work well below 35 degrees or so and therefore arent really suited for use in a good chunk of the US.
Air-to-air heat pumps start to have difficulty below about 30 degrees, and then the electric heat strips kick on. Natural gas is preferable to the heat strips, if available.
However, a ground water to air heat pump (either a closed loop recirculating fluid, or single-pass from a well) doesn’t care what the air temperature is, and is highly effective pretty much no matter how cold it gets in the US.
The air-to-air heat pumps are much cheaper to install, though.
Cool. Yeah I’ve only run across them in the South. That makes sense as to the reason.
Yeah and it’ll be just as successful as Obamas 60MPG by 2020 or whatever it was that never even came close.
That’s a great picture of Biden. It looks like he doesn’t know what day it is.
He doesn’t, he is an idiot.
He also does not know that he is talking to a killer
Picture of Biden shown above.
Deer: We’ve got nothin’…
Sounds great. Now, how. Other than making everyone ride a bike while freezing and starving in the dark, hungry, it’s not going to happen.
Otherwise, allowing the “problem” to be solved by innovation and what-not will take care of things just fine.
Oh yeah, but it’s a “crisis”, and the “science is settled”. Heh. If the “science is settled”, then why haven’t we fired everyone on the climate research gravy-train and saved all that money? Their job is done!
I already have a plan when it is going to be cold and starving… I’ll eat my neighbors, they voted Biden anyways. And I will use their furniture for heat
like most online doomsdayers you live a rich online fantasy life. You’ll be dead after your prescriptions run out and your power is turned off
He’ll be too busy eating a bag of di(ks. Just kidding. He learned to make soup from the Taliban so he’ll be just fine lol.
Miss $6.00 (inflation adjusted) gas, OPEC having us over a barrel, and endless wars in the desert on the Saudi’s behalf?
Because China Joe apparently does.
remember when the president stood up to the Saudis after they chopped up a journalist? me either
Maybe if it was one of the “journalists” from US State Media, but nobody in the US nobody cared about a foreign national. Did you care or even know about the Russian journalists who were murdered or disappeared in the past few years? Will Senator Biden/the Junta in charge intervene the next time one of them is murdered?

Sir Senile will, no doubt at all, ride to the rescue and “slash” those evil, un PC things by 52.6743885369757353668%. About half a decade after he passes from being senile to being dead. Yeah! Great!! Let’s all pump our fists and cheer for the Great Dear Leader who will save us all. Just, you know, not, like, anytime soon or anything. But, like, you know, in, like the fuuuuuture!! ‘Cause, like , the fuuuture “we” can, like, inveeeest in and, like stuff!!!
As China has proclaimed themselves as our equal at the recent trade talks, time to treat them as such and dispense with all of the allowances they get for being a “Developing Nation or Economy” when it comes to these environmental treaties and accords.
“Yes, China, as you are our equal you say, you are no longer developing. Now you can meet the same goals as everyone else or face sanctions and other punitive measures that take away the competitive advantages you enjoy by always getting treated special in these deals…Welcome to the First World. By the way, we’d like a little more thorough look at that whole Covid-19 origin bit than that joke you gave the W.H.O.”
“We are going to cut emissions by some hard and large number by a certain year” – The Western World
“We are comitted to cutting emissions…as soon as we finish all these Coal Plants. We have no number or specific goal or timeline nor have we made any moves to show this is serious, but we are on board and should be given a seat at the grown-ip table too!” – The “People’s Republic” of China
I think, this is pretty clear at this point that Wuhan virus came from the lab during gain of function experiments paid by US NIH and commanded by Dr. Faucci himself.
>Slavta
Agreed. Lab creation. Accident tho?
1 Could not have jumped from an animal to a human. Needed an added step for mutation amount.
2 Spikiest spikes ever
3 Hardest shell ever.
4 Ability to dive deep into nerve trunk.
5 Massive -varying long term affects. Brain fog. Heart issues. Female cycle. and on and on. – Normal flu doesnt cross over so many bodily systems.
IT WAS MADE IN THAT LAB.
Funny how the media shows zero interest in investigating this.
The safety in the lab was substandard. Is this an accident release? Probably. I don’t see why China would shoot itself on purpose. They are already in the demographic hole and not taking immigrants. But they are also the only country with good economical growth during virus.
There is plenty of documentation that surfaced. NIH/Faucci/Wuhan lab – this is what happened. Welcome back to America. Another nice return for the money paid by American taxpayers.
Oh wow, you are a bigger kook than I had even realized. Trolling must not pay too well though.
Where’s the evidence that SARS-CoV-2 was created in a lab?
Currently, gene splicing is as obvious as splicing a tape from a 1960’s era tape recorder.
That was obvious by last summer, although the sheeple were/are quick to dismiss anything deviating from what they are told.
For the deniers – there is plenty of evidence. Only they don’t want to tell you. And BTW, there is documentation supporting all of this
2017 US lifts pathogen research ban
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5195651/U-S-lifts-funding-ban-studies-enhance-dangerous-germs.html
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9477403/Washington-Post-reporter-claims-Dr-Fauci-research-connected-COVID-19-outbreak.html
Quote from Newsweek:
“…just last year, the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the organization led by Dr. Fauci, funded scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and other institutions for work on gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses.
In 2019, with the backing of NIAID, the National Institutes of Health committed $3.7 million over six years for research that included some gain-of-function work. The program followed another $3.7 million, 5-year project for collecting and studying bat coronaviruses, which ended in 2019, bringing the total to $7.4 million.
Many scientists have criticized gain of function research, which involves manipulating viruses in the lab to explore their potential for infecting humans, because it creates a risk of starting a pandemic from accidental release.
SARS-CoV-2 , the virus now causing a global pandemic, is believed to have originated in bats. U.S. intelligence, after originally asserting that the coronavirus had occurred naturally, conceded last month that the pandemic may have originated in a leak from the Wuhan lab. (At this point most scientists say it’s possible—but not likely—that the pandemic virus was engineered or manipulated.)”
Um…that isn’t proof.
Geneticists and microbiologist have analyzed early samples from China. There is no evidence of genetic manipulation.
Logically, if China was planning on releasing a virus, they’d already have been vaccinating the populace in advance.
Did I say China did “planned release”? – No.
But don’t mention any “scientists” with early samples. All that was protectionism of China.
The status as of right now – nearly a fact – lab virus
World Health Organization advisor Jamie Metzl – pandemic likely started via lab leak.
Even WHO is shifting
Why was the virus in a lab?
The insinuation by trolls and/or low rent agitators is that it was man made.
If China discovered the virus and were studying it, that’s entirely different
A lab leak just means a lab leak.
Come from under the rock. Dr. Faucci ordered gain of function study. Means, virus was made dangerous, then it leaked
“The insinuation by trolls and/or low rent agitators is that it was man made.”
or altered or made dangerous.
There is no evidence of that.
And I’m no Biden fan for the most part, but this is what he said he was going to do during the election. If you are shocked or don’t like it you had better get out and vote in the mid terms. Folks typically don’t however.
Art,
while you might hear and read about Taliban, I served in the military with them, shoulder to shoulder, ate soup from the same bowl. Those Uzbeks I served with, basically were “Taliban” people (not brainwashed yet). Do you know who was taking Amin’s palace in Afghanistan? – Soviet Muslims.
Quote:
“During the Soviet era, Islam in Central Asia was officially suppressed – mosques were closed, and all contact with the wider Muslim world was severed. This isolation ended with the Soviet–Afghan War (1979–1989), when thousands of conscripts from Soviet Central Asia were sent to fight the Afghan mujahedin.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Movement_of_Uzbekistan
There were soldiers who became POWs, took Islam and lived happily ever after with their wives. Because they normally knew some trade and it would be useful in Afghanistan. They wouldn’t starve.
Oh, so pray tell then, explain to me how that young girl in Kandahar that was stoned by them for the heinous crime of being raped while I was there deserved it? Or the people in that Mosque that had been hostile to them and weren’t “the right sort of muslims” deserve to burn to death when the blocked the exits and set building on fire. Yeah, solid bunch of people.
I’ve done a little more than read about them and frankly, if you are sympathizer then you are a bigger piece of chit than even I imagined.
Art, leave these people to themselves. They did not ask a clown like you to come and tell them what to do. Maybe you forgot how you hunted witches in Salem. Or may be you think that liberal pedofilic modern society is better. Or when did segregation ended in America? Again, you acting like an angel while American military killed millions of innocent civilians. And remember Lybia, it was most wealthy country in Africa until you came to “fix it”
The Salem Witch Trials? Seriously? You are correct though…they no more asked us then they asked the U.S.S.R. in the 80’s. Of course a simple “Bin Laden is no longer here…we ran him off” would have possibly prevented our mess over there. But that’s not how Mullah Omar chose to play it so you get the last 20 years.
Frankly, if you were fighting with the Taliban, I wish we’d have gotten you too. I have some regrets in life. Any small part I played in ridding the world of a few of your Taliban buddies is not among them.
Aww…struck a nerve?
@Art – makes you wonder…that dude goes from fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Taliban, speaks glowingly of Russia, and trolls TTAC…
“they no more asked us then they asked the U.S.S.R. in the 80’s”
Ooops, wrong again!!! Communist party of Afghanistan did ask Soviets to come multiple times, to take out Amin and his people. Because Amin was genuinely bad dude. His people murdered opponents by thousands. Soviets did not want to do that but when they learned that Amin was doing some talking with Americans, this is when Politburo decided to go in.
You know what I said. My buddies were good Soviet Uzbeks who I could trust. We call them now “Taliban”.
I hope you know, radical Islam and Bin Laden were American invention. And Ronald Reagan is father of this. But as usual, everything America invents then hurts it back. For example, look at the protest posters, from Serbia first and throughout Europe
https://x-true.info/uploads/posts/2019-08/1565953488_005.jpg
And now go and look at BLM fist – you can tell the obvious connection. What goes around, comes around
Oh stop. The Soviet Union installed that Communist government in Afghanistan and then promptly rushed in to help them out. It is similar to us in Vietnam (See how I can be critical of my own country sometimes…you should try it).
Furthermore, the Taliban came out of Kandahar Province and spread from there. Uzbekistan is a whole different country that as I recall had zero love for the Taliban.
Yes, we funded Bin Laden at the time. You were viewed as the bigger threat and he was excellent at using those stingers we gave him at shooting down your helicopters. Hope you didn’t have any relatives that were pilots…this could be awkward. Speaking of which, as you are always crying about American war crimes, my interpreter had some stories about MI-24’s flying into his village and shooting anything that moved. You know, killing noncombatants is frowned upon. Yeah, you guys did it. I’m sure you’ll now pull up Dresden or the Salem Witch trials or something else to justify it.
Our problem was that after the Mujahadeen sent you guys packing, we didn’t stay engaged and that vacuum allowed the Taliban to take over.
And yes, as pointed out, I think you are confused…the Taliban grew out of the Mujahadeen, the force that was fighting the Soviets. I guess they all look the same to a guy like yourself though.
“The Soviet Union installed that Communist government in Afghanistan”
– This is totally incorrect. Soviets did not do anything. General Daoud killed one leftist leader Mir Akbar Khyber. Taraki, Karmal and Amin pooped their pants and before general got to them, organized coup-d’etat and overturned the general. It was as surprising to Soviets as to you. Only after Soviets started to get involved.
“(See how I can be critical of my own country sometimes…you should try it).”
– if I wasn’t critical I wouldn’t be here. I literally risked my freedom by promoting western-style personal freedoms and spreading illegal books, etc. I did not like our gov. What is “killing” me is that you often talk about USSR like America or other countries have not done same thing. Or, example, you mentioned Katyn and Holodomor. Why are you remembering how Russians executed Poles but not how Poles executed Russians. Or how Czechs killed 450,000 ethnic Germans _after_ the war ended. Or, I can endlessly complain about Stalin destroying best of Russia – farmers, by collectivization and expulsion. You call it Holodomor – word made in America circa 1978 as meaning of some kind genocide. And I already explained to you using FACTS that this is a brainwash.
“Furthermore, the Taliban came out of Kandahar Province…Uzbekistan is a whole different country that as I recall had zero love for the Taliban.”
– I honestly don’t know exactly where Taliban started. But if you speak of Kandahar – there are Uzbeks there, and Tadjiks – also served with me. Right now this is unclear. They all mixed up, this is why Russia had bases in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan – to monitor movements of these people.
“…those stingers we gave him at shooting down your helicopters. Hope you didn’t have any relatives that were pilots…”
– yes, I had my uncle who died when his cargo plane was shot down but not by stinger. 1985, a year before Stinger appeared. Stingers were dangerous for some time. Soviets even grounded everything for a month. Then they added heat flairs and changed landing procedures, started to fly higher and greatly reduced Stinger casualties. Especially after they obtained them about 1/2 year after introduction.
“you are always crying about American war crimes, my interpreter had some stories about MI-24’s flying into his village and shooting anything that moved.”
– sounds like Russians. Because the beard dudes would go fight, then retreat into the village and hide the guns, now they are “civilians”. This is totally true if the bad ambush happened it would be followed by “total sweep”.
I need to keep you in check, make sure you know – we’re same animals.
“after the Mujahadeen sent you guys packing”
– typical American brouhaha. Soviets left because Gorbi and Reagan made some agreements. You can read here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geneva_Accords_(1988)
And Soviets nearly had to stay longer because beard guys became more active.
“vacuum allowed the Taliban to take over.” – no. Afghanistan is not one nation. And no Army, or Taliban can control it in entirety. Nobody can take over everything there.
“Taliban grew out of the Mujahadeen” – when soviets were there, there were universities, young people party, normal life, at least in cities. When Mujahadeen appeared, radicalized with help of US, entire Afghanistan became a medieval village.
No, we aren’t “same animals”. When we got ambushed and the wheels were blown off my truck we literally watched the trigger man run into a building full of people, we didn’t level the building. And when a force attacked us and retreated into a village, we never attacked the village as a whole or did a “clean sweep” as you say. We would refer to such acts as war crimes. Apparently “positive identification” and “hostile act or hostile intent” are not words that appeared in your rules of engagement, if you had any. Judging from the stories and your own account, I’m guessing not. Furthermore “proportional force” was a thing. When someone shoots an AK at us we didn’t call in artillery on the mosque they were shooting from. These practices were sometimes to our detriment, but they were our rules none the less. And various Military Prisons have occupants that will tell you what happens when you get caught stepping out of the lines. Did it happen sometimes? Sure, but again…if caught it was punished and it was the exception…not the rule.
So let me keep you in check. My country is far from perfect. We have much in our history to atone for. The stuff you see now is some of that process. But your efforts to proclaim the Soviet Union as being out moral equivalent are a bunch of garbage. We are not on the same planet. History is and will continue to judge that fact.
I agree to disagree. US ruined nations in the name of corporate greed. No US President died a poor man. At least in the last 100 years. While Soviets did things for ideas. Bad ideas, but not for money. Every Soviet leader died a poor man and non had family members continue government traditions, like Bushes, Kennedy, Clintons, etc. These are mafia clans. And the very reason why America was a well-governed country is because there was an adversary that couldn’t steal the money but could steal hearts of people. And now, ever since USSR collapsed, US people becoming less free and government becoming more tyrannical here. There is no political competition and nothing to scare you with.
“Every Soviet leader died a poor man…”
Sure they did…in a palatial dacha with every luxury imaginable, all bought and paid for by the state.
I kept the top of the ticket blank in 2020 and I’m fully willing to let the Democrats take a crack at pulling some levers to reducing emissions.
That said anything related to a federal ICE ban, appliance ban, HVAC ban, travel restrictions or food restrictions is a solid red line for me. A carbon tax would be a dotted red line.
You better prepare oxygen tanks because John Kerry said – net zero CO2 is not enough. We need to eliminate it from atmosphere completely.
Um…you don’t need oxygen tanks if there is no CO2. You do if there is too much CO2.
Ask any fireman.
And where O2 comes from? May be you have a generation station in your home?
I take it you didn’t do too well in school..
“And where O2 comes from?”
Ever hear of photosynthesis?
exactly, without co2 – no o2
Wow, it must be the night shift and we got the slightly more intelligent slavuto.
You can’t remove all of the CO2. The point is to markedly reduce excess CO2.
If you want to play biology and chemistry games, excess CO2 acidifies oceans or even human bodies if their is too much of it.
1/2 of the oxygen we breath comes from oceans but increasingly acidic and warm bodies of water mean less 02.
your father John Kerry wants to remove all co2
@Slavuto – please post where he says in his speech that we have to “eliminate it from atmosphere completely”.
Here
https://youtu.be/u8M7gQtUEG8
I read the speech….again….where?
You libs that voted for idiot joe are getting what you voted for: higher taxes, more illegals entering the country etc. The electric car charging will not be and issue because idiot joe will kill the economy and the market and nobody will be able to buy and new electric car. Idiot joe told you what he was going to do and you libs bought it. So you libs that voted for idiot joe will have not problem when your 401k’s go down, your taxes go up, the cost of gas goes up, the cost of food goes up, right?
Texas referendum on secession is gaining momentum
Texas is already less than 50 percent white. with the emerging educated whites, immigrants from other states mostly blue and a majority non white population Texas is already purple and will be blue in a decade. no succession by a minority of white fox news watchers
I don’t agree with your projections JD, but I do agree that Texas isn’t going anywhere. The succession stuff has always been fringe talk. Besides, without fail anyone pushing that arguement always brings up that Texas has their own power grid. I wonder if that is still a talking point in thes idiotic discussions. They are no more leaving than California.
I place my bets on break up under current political reality. 20 years back – no. Now – yes. America achieved certain patterns that always lead to breakup.
“Texas is already less than 50 percent white”
Interesting how Republicans have to cater to white guys to stay in power.
“Whiteness” and the idea of “white” being superior and a desirable trait is a fairly new concept(past few centuries). It was used to justify slavery primarily in the “colonies”.
Republicans actually do okay with nonblack minority groups in red and purple states. I don’t know what the next decade will bring but I don’t really buy into the “racial demographics are destiny” arguments from either side.
“Texas is already less than 50 percent white”
if America loses its European original lookout, it will be different country. If you bring here Guatemalans, you will live here like in Guatemala. If you gonna have Chinese, you’ll live like in China.
America does not want to be extension of Europe – fine. Be extension of Mexico. If corruption, murder and bribes (outside of leftist views that are high in Latin America) is choice vs Germanic law and order…. ok then.
There is a support for separation from democrats as well in Texas. Besides, this is where America goes. Will be pain but it will happen.
This was settled in 1865 by that great Republican Abraham Lincoln
Yep @JD. Texas though supposedly when they were admitted to the union has some special case where they can vote themselves out though. In practice though I don’t think it would go down peacefully. Honestly though it doesn’t matter…it is fringe talk.
And we get it Slavuta…it was hard watching your country break up. Doesn’t mean it is happening here. We are just better like that.
Biden crime family is already on the path of distribution of our tax money.
Biden had a virtual tour of electric bus company Proterra. Biden’s infrastructure plan has $45,000,000,000 dedicated to electric school buses.. The energy secretary Jennifer Granholm is from the board of this company and has $5,000,000 stock investment there.
I am sure, as it always “works” in America – money will be distributed, results will be minimal, debt will grow. Only bad things will happen. We’re going to endup without buses and schools and money.
Examples are plenty – F35, Littoral combat ship. Billions and billions of money landed in someone pockets without any good return. Solindra. Boston transportation spent $5.5M taxpayer money on 2 wind turbines that never generated anything… endless cache of failures when taxpayer money involved.
Our tax money? We are collecting taxes in Russia? Vlad is going to be MAD. Probably some.polonium on the menu for those responsible
I think polonium too hard to handle. I call for napalm. Can be delivered in the new electric vehicles
I’m confused though…you said “our”. So you are a US taxpayer? Or is it more “our” in the sense you would refer to Crimea, parts of Georgia and Eastern Ukraine?
LOL.
Mother Russia tax money is paying his wages.
Dude will get a polonium enema for being too obvious. He gives me the impression that he’s been exposed to a bit too much novichok.
I pay taxes in America, so “our” means American.
But interesting thought about Crimea. Since Ukraine never cancelled my citizenship, and since they consider Crimea theirs, I can freely live there without being sanctioned for it. As long as Russians are ok with my American passport. As long as I enter it from Ukraine side, not Russia. I think, that would be a wonderful place for retirement when it comes to that.
“Examples are plenty – F35, Littoral combat ship. Billions and billions of money landed in someone pockets without any good return. Solindra. Boston transportation spent $5.5M taxpayer money on 2 wind turbines that never generated anything… endless cache of failures when taxpayer money involved.”
You forgot the helicopter on Mars, scooping up dirt from an asteroid, exploration of the outer planets and beyond all the way to interstellar space, the Hubble Space Telescope, and flights to low earth orbit so routine that we now allow Elon Musk to operate what is basically an orbital uber service to the ISS.
That list alone makes me proud of this country.
Remember, when India launched their Mars mission, it wrote
“India launched its Mangalyaan satellite to Mars at a total cost of $75 million, a fraction of NASA’s $671 million Mars mission, Maven, that was launched just days later.”
Somehow Elon Mask team came to same conclusion Russians came in 1960s – cargo and humans fly separately. And today, even with reusable modules, launch of Dragon costs more. It does have advantages though – much more automation, human does not need to learn as much. It can carry 1 more person. And it has fancy designer suits.
Soon Musk will be flying to USSS. China and Russia now building their own stations.
Did India’s mission land an autonomous rover on the surface via a hovering rocket crane that then deployed an autonomous helicopter? They did not. So now your arguement is that we spend too much on space? Seems like we are getting results. On the contrary it seems that NASA has made incredibly complex operations as I describe above look routine. NASA doesn’t care how we get to low Earth orbit. It is something that is so incredibly routine they don’t waste the resources and let Musk (and eventually Boeing) do it. Heck you have people starting companies now just for the view. Nobody cares anymore. We figured out the low earth stuff in the 1960’s…just before some of us figured out how to leave low Earth orbit.
“they don’t waste the resources and let Musk”
Don’t kid me. Musk is paid by NASA. Or do you mean, human resources?
space is never a routine, even if it is looks like routine. Last time I was impressed is when last year (I think) Russian ship failed mid-flight, then recovery procedures started and the crew safely landed after the aborted flight.
NASA contracts SPACEX to to a job for them. He has done that job exceptionally well. NASA is lucky…he has by far the most talented group of people in the business building his rockets. I mean really…rockets landing vertically for re use? That’s sci fi movie stuff
I was not a big Musk fan for a long time. And I have my beefs with Tesla, but when the dude says he’s going to do something, the man delivers… especially on the SpaceX end.
Starship is huge. It will fundamentally change how we do space travel and ferry items to space. NASA gets this and while politics won’t let them buy in 100 percent, they are supporting it enough. Elon will run with it.
As such, I believe he’ll be landing starships on the moon around 2024 (as NASA has now contracted him to do) in route to Mars. Awesome time to be alive and again, proud of my country for driving these inovations.
Agree we need to treat China as more of an equal when it comes to trade and not grant them a special trade status. Also we need to expand the charging infrastructure and upgrade the electrical grid. We also need to build more nuclear plants. Setting a goal to reduce emissions by 2030 without a real plan is pie in the sky. There needs to be long range planning and realistic timelines set. Nothing against getting away from fossil fuel but we cannot do this in just a decade and we cannot do it on just generating energy from solar and wind.
So we will give up on US based oil and gas jobs, US based auto manufacturing jobs, and then government subsidize the importation of foreign made solar panels, batteries, windmills etc. Then say “we care” and give everyone UBI, but only if they vote the right way and don’t say mean things online.
What has to be understood here is that the federal government through Biden and his henchmen are essentially declaring war against the American people. The time is coming for massive civil disobedience, possibly even a tax revolt where people stop paying income taxes. (If it comes down to your family starving/freezing, or paying “your” taxes in support of your own destruction, which will you choose? You can be sure that Biden and his ilk will remain warm and well-fed no matter what befalls the proles.)
I for one will not cooperate with any of this and will make no effort to reduce my “carbon footprint”. This entire thing is one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated. Its true intention is to increase the size and scope of government and permit the political class to extract more wealth through confiscatory taxation. Climate change is a force of nature that we cannot control. Any changes taking place have much more to do with “the planet” coming out of the Little Ice Age for over a century than it does with human CO2 output.
My promise to Biden and the other lying poltroons and useful idiots pushing this garbage:
I will never buy an electric car.
I will not travel by public transportation or bicycle.
I will not install solar panels on my roof.
I will not replace my old, reliable appliances and HVAC system with modern trouble-prone “high efficiency” models.
I will make no changes in my lifestyle at all to accommodate your “climate change” quasi-religion, which is based on junk science of the worst kind.
As far as I am concerned, Biden and his army of power-hungry political hacks and bureaucrats can go pound sand.
It will be peaceful at first. First – Texas will vote to hold secession referendum.
A bunch of people that cry when Facebook goes down are going to kick off a revolution. Oh boy, this is going to be fun to watch.
Our energy policy is now under the direction of an 18 year-old Swedish high school dropout.
“First, the Biden plan calls for the U.S. to embrace clean energy, and renovate our electrical grid.”
Any cost or time estimates, or is this another presidential applause line with no intention of rocking the boat? I like Biden’s direction on withdrawing from Afghanistan. Maybe if we spent the $2 trillion spent in Afghanistan here, we’d already be part of the way to fixing our dilapidated infrastructure.
That fat moron trump will be dead by 2024. He was the last gasp of the stupid fox news generation.
Now you can put your mask back on and drink some more koolaid
you said covid was a hoax. now you claim it’s a chinese superweapon. poor old confused goober
OK American comrade. I said it was a hoax? When? And when did I claim it was a Chinese superweapon?
I think, you confused yourself into misery
@JD-Shifty – he isn’t confused. It’s his job to sow confusion and divisiveness.
I am not surprised. Biden is not long for this world and want to take USA with him – for the eternity to the better place.
He’s outlived rush and soon will outlive trump. Funny how a guy with dementia wiped the floor with the orange clown at the debates.
If would not be funny for you if you knew the real story.
blah, blah, blah. Let me guess – Trump is “king” of the USA in heaven, or some other such nonsense?
Oh, yes…. The real story. Is that the story rejected by 70 plus US courts including the Supreme Court?
It’s mighty strange how so many here jumped straight into the political posturing without addressing the real reason to cut fossil fuels: Increasingly crazy weather and rising tides. Anyone who lives along the coastline (anywhere) knows this. Haven’t y’all seen the stories out of Florida? Talked to anyone in Oklahoma lately? I’m sure New Yorkers don’t want their nice subway system filled with sea water.
One could take the view that the worse predictions might come true, heck, not for another 40 years. That would be a dismal, damnable view.
Technology doesn’t stand still. The solar panels and wind-farm tech of today will be superseded in no time. Electric-car tech is just beginning, and it’s possible that in future we’ll have moved beyond electric.
It’s too easy to be sarcastic. Too much is on the line.
Most of these folks will be dead in 10-15 years so they don’t care.
“it’s possible that in future we’ll have moved beyond electric.”
Only if it can be metered.
@Edsel Maserati – unfortunately it is next to impossible to debate the topic or the pros and cons of any plan when one side lives in a faux news alternative reality. The one-shot-wonder ex-president poisoned an already toxic political divide.
I’ve seen massive changes in climate in Northern Canada over my lifetime. My father saw only one bad forest fire season in his life. My teenaged sons have seen at least five in theirs.
Poor forest management, thanks to environmental regulations.
@MasterBater – Um…you live in Northern Canada or have any expertise in forest resource management?
Do you know how environmental regulations interplay with forest resource management?
Lou, The one side living in an alternate reality changes with the topic at hand. Want to talk about the election? The ‘true believers’ are on team red. But you want to talk about racism? Team blue’s woke mafia would like a word with you if you don’t tow the line or if you’re not first out of the gate to criticize in just the right way.
The problem isn’t that one side is broken. The problem is that many of us continue to get gaslit by the cult we’ve volunteered to defend.
…The problem isn’t that one side is broken. The problem is that many of us continue to get gaslit by the cult we’ve volunteered to defend…
This is the truth. Everybody has retreated into the “us vs them” divide. America has no middle ground anymore. Those who go left are quick to run to Rachel Maddow, those on the right spew Tucker Carlson. This is a death knell for our country. Putin probably never realized that he would get such a payback from his efforts to destabilize this country. Rome fell – who’s to say America can’t?
@jkross22 – that is true. I’m not defending any one side. Facts are facts. It can be very difficult to find the truth.
@Jason Sakurai – thank you for writing an article on this topic that isn’t riddled with one’s own bias.

If all this crap is true, this is how China becomes a Superpower and the US 3rd world. Does anyone care?
Hell no. The shot callers will get theirs and be dead and buried by the time the sh!t hits the fan, long before 2030. Or moved to Costa Rica. No problem, China and Mexico will pick up the scraps, what used to be the USA/Canada.
The US came to power only by its oil exploits throughout the world. And it’s what funds the mighty unstoppable US military. Where does anyone think that money comes from?
You have to really question the intelligence of a nation’s population when they would vote for a buffoon with dementia or allow their corrupt governors to alter election rules to favor the buffoons chances instead of continuing with a man who was doing so much good for his nation. Just stunning.
@Lou_BC–Some of these commenters probably still believe the World is flat and it you go far enough that you will fall off the Earth, the Moon Landing was staged in a studio, if man were meant to fly God would have given him wings, and if the Earth is round then it is the Center of the Universe and everything else revolves around it. I had a neighbor who has long since died that could not comprehend that the Earth rotated and that the reason the Sun rose in the East and set in the West was because of the Earth’s rotation. My neighbor actually believed that the Sun rotated around the Earth.
Most probably don’t know this but there was a movement to close the US Patent office in the early 20th Century because many believed that everything that could be invented was already invented.
Some commenters here think that we can shame the Chinese into following our lead in crippling our economy, that we can actually replace our existing fossil fuel generated power with vast solar and wind farms, that women can have a penis, and some even believed that Biden was going to govern like a moderate and work to unify the country. In other words, suckers.
It is frustrating to try to debate a topic on it’s merits when they focus on everything but the topic or don’t have any facts.
We’ve seen China virus, fake election, 2024 election, and assorted other unrelated factoids.
Some of those are comical.
Except the Moon landing is a hoax. You have to be truly ignorant to believe that one. Most believers were real young at the time, a generation lost in space, but as a nation we were very naive too. It was too easy to pull off, totally doable and we wanted to believe it was real, desperately so.
At the point it was discovered it could not be done, what else was there to do? Oops? Sorry? We suck? We were just kidding? Never Mind…
@thegamper–I was behind a coal roller who had not only a Trump bumper sticker but a support Coal bumper sticker. I wonder if he thought diesel was made from coal?
Based on the facts you laid out, I’d say he does not think at all. A meathead – dead from the neck up.
China will do what best fits the Party’s needs. We are just a market to sell their products to and once their market grows and can better sustain itself the less they will need us.
This is exactly China’s plan – get rid of dependency on the west.
Yeah but we don’t really need them either. We have a sizable market, growing energy independence, and are capable of feeding our population internally. That last bit is the catch at the end of the day, isn’t it?
Anything China does for us it is because they are a cheap place to do it. We can do it here or move on to another cheap market. It would be a painful adjustment, but it would pass.
To quote Morgan Freeman in Deep Impact, “It may seem like we have each other bent over the same barrel, but it only seems that way ”
In short, China will become more powerful and the US …will be just fine too.
Anatoliy Vasserman predicted this – America is going down. But eventually Trump-like managers will overcome crisis, which will not happen fast.
Yeah but we don’t really need them either. <- 1.5B consumers? I remember? US sent military ships to Tokyo with a message – open your market or else
growing energy independence – you must be missed climate change conference yesterday
old grand dad here thinks trump was a manager
https://www.inverse.com/article/21487-elon-musk-spacex-foreign-workers
We have a “cheap place”. It’s called Mexico. I don’t know why we’ve been ignoring the place, but guess who hasn’t? Yep China.
China doesn’t need us either, but it’s a matter of pride. And they’re getting real cozy with Mexico for a very good reason. It’s complicated I know, dealing with the Mexican government, the drug cartels, the blurred line between them, the US dependence on illicit drugs, dependence on illegal slave/workers, etc.
Mexico is a political football, but we’re going to need them in the coming decades. Just talking solar panels, think about every US/Canada rooftop having them. As they get cheaper, electricity will get crazy expensive to the point where it won’t make sense not having them.
Never mind windmill farming and the coming electrical revolution.
Also the world’s biggest lithium field was recently found in Mexico. 70% of the world’s mineable lithium, just sitting there for the taking.
Germany produces 20% of power with wind. But they stopped building these. Something is going on with it
We have become dependant on China for many goods that we as a country use to produce. We also have become dependent on rare earth materials used to make batteries. Just in Time Manufacturing and looking for the lowest cost manufacturing has made the US very dependent on China. It will take years for the US to bring back most of the manufacturing needed to make the supplies needed to replace what was outsourced to China. So yes we do need China and that is because we created this dependency on Chinese manufacturing. China eventually won’t need us and if we are still dependent on China then we will have a major crisis.

The dude is a Russian troll. He stated that he fought shoulder to shoulder with the Taliban earlier in the thread.
“Art,
while you might hear and read about Taliban, I served in the military with them, shoulder to shoulder, ate soup from the same bowl.”
Don’t forget the endorsement of war crimes.
He’s just salty though. It’s like the US and USSR were on opposite sides of the bracket in the NCAA tournament and everyone was expecting them to meet in the big dance. The US won their way up the bracket but the Soviets pulled a Florida and got beat by Oral Roberts in the second round
Now China has taken their place in the tournament and the Ruskies don’t even rate an NIT bid anymore.
Hence his hoping against hope we blow apart like the Soviet Union. We won’t. We won and he is salty.
@Lou:
Ten bucks says the closest he ever got to fighting in any war was on the Xbox in his mom’s basement.
But, yeah, anyone who expresses any kind of support or sympathy for the freakin’ Taliban is a schmuck, at best.
The site needs to at least warn this clown – eating his neighbors and stealing their stuff because they voted for Biden? Condoning war crimes? Up-talking the Taliban? Sheesh. He’s really stinking this place up. Didn’t we use to have moderators here?
Aurthur Daley made a comment noting that the language and quality of his posts change over time. Things like correct grammar and spelling. He was the first one to point that out. I notice that as well.
He raves about divisive topics and praises Russia. I personally don’t know any ex-pats from totalitarian states that praise their countries after leaving.
Yes, yes, we americans must shut up this evil slavuta:-) How dare he voice an opinion that..(fill in your personal reason for being offended).
What bosh. But, you’ll probably get your way eventually and even more eventually come to regret it.
If you don’t want to get involved in political talk on here then just don’t.
This 52% reduction Biden is touting is either of two things: a plan for the complete and utter destruction of the US economy because the speed with which he wants to do this isn’t doable; or so much hot air — which is probably causing more global warming. The chance that it can be taken at face value is nil.
@Old_WRX – what if he was an Iranian or Chinese troll? Would you still say he was free to spout his opinion?
Dude said he fought WITH Taliban…
If one fought WITH Taliban then who’s country’s soldiers would be in his gun sights?
Chew on that too.
“Dude said he fought WITH Taliban… ”
hahahaha. Did you see John Kerry video? Now, go read what I said.
“But, yeah, anyone who expresses any kind of support or sympathy for the freakin’ Taliban is a schmuck, at best”
When did I support Taliban? I said, leave them alone, it will be healthier for US.. Have you ever thought why primitive organisms survive millions of years and complex ones die out? Same thing here. If Taliban remains same, they will live passed civilizations.
I said fact – same applies to any muslim village or small town in Dagestan or Chechnya. You don’t need to lock your car, house or storage. No one will take anything.
BTW, US officials recognize Taliban and have talks and agreements with them. Like it or don’t like it, it exists as near-legit organization.
“Ten bucks says the closest he ever got to fighting in any war was on the Xbox in his mom’s basement. ”
Funny dude. In USSR all men had military obligation. And as long as Afghanistan war was on, everyone of service age between 1979 and 1989 was close enough to fight in it. In the end I bypassed this war and was sent to the border with China. Where by the way, earlier was this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Soviet_border_conflict
“The dude is a Russian troll. He stated that he fought shoulder to shoulder with the Taliban earlier in the thread. ”
You can check origination of “Slavuta” before calling me Russian Troll. Although!! you may be into something here.
I definitely not from Russian Federation, which is not same as Russia. Russia is a huge area that includes Ukraine, Belarus, Baltics, and even Poland. Full title of the Czar used to be Great Count of Moscow and Czar of All Russias. Yes, I am from “all Russias”.
In this sense you can call me “Russian”. But if you tie me to Russian Federation, you are wasting your time.
For the Taliban… Yea, we call them “Taliban” because they are same people as in Taliban, ethnically. But they were our Taliban. USSR was a huge country and we had all sorts of people with all sorts of customs and places where typical state laws were not followed too much. People had tribal laws, etc.
Freed Mike,
You would be perfect fit into Stalin’s system, where neighbors and even relatives told on each other. What do you think, if you will be hungry, you will not find unusual sources of food? You want to ask those who survived famines? Hypothetically we all capable of this.
When Biden and his crew will run this country into the ground, you will regret. In fact, when you see 16yo girl attacking another girl with the knife in front of everyone is a bad sign for everyone.
Slavuta needs a rubber room. what a cretin
slavuta,
“You would be perfect fit into Stalin’s system”
People in this country don’t have the slightest idea what is (unfortunately) coming. The propaganda machine has done such a great job of singing them to sleep. Of course, the fact that the history they teach in American schools doesn’t get any farther east than Germany leaves Americans ignorant of the sh!t storm the Lenin/Stalin era was in Russia. Sadly it looks like something like that is on its way in this country. No one will see it until the tanks come down their street.
Old_WRX
When we complain about people in government… do we have anyone to replace them? They all are products of the same system. Same schools.
You are correct. This is going to be horrible. It is like Stalinism with money press. I seriously don’t understand, people want to depend their life on the government? In America? When did you see last time outside of South Africa that a developed nation would try to break population on race as current admin? This is your gov today. Bolsheviks at least knew that this is a bad idea and called all races to unite in the class war. Every force creates counter-force. Recently one Ukrainian thinker, who had to leave Ukraine for Russia because he was prosecuted in Ukraine for his thoughts, said about America – current government will ruin US but eventually Trump-like managers will return and pull it from the deepest crisis it ever faced.
In Europe people are so tired of leftism, right movements gain a lot of strength. Even some left started to adapt same approach as right, not to be outdone. For example, Macron started to talk against immigration as France can’t stop counting all the crime committed by immigrants who don’t have plans to assimilate. etc.
@Old_WRX – free speech comes with responsibility. Are lies protected by “free speech”?
Exercising free speech is like owning guns. If you don’t use either responsibly, people get hurt.
If a foreign national uses a gun against one’s fellow countrymen, how is that dealt with?
If multiple organized foreign nationals uses guns against one’s countrymen, what’s that called?
Replace speech or social media with guns… it’s the same thing.
Lou_BC,
‘ free speech comes with responsibility. Are lies protected by “free speech”?’
In effect, yes they are. Free speech does come with responsibility — free speech places the burden of critical thinking on the listener. Anything else requires that someone makes the decision as to what can and cannot be said — and that is not free speech (e.g., the current infestation of so-called “fact checkers”). I believe (for what it is worth) the founders of this country would agree with this. Either you have free speech or you don’t.
Legally in this country you can say anything you want with the exception of slander (and that is NOT as defined by the SJW’w) and incitement. Both of these exceptions have quite narrow definition, which is intentional. Now, we are moving toward a subjective enforcement against so-called hate speech. Subjective hate speech laws lead inevitably to mob rule, since there is no objective definition of what hate speech is, someone gets to, in effect, decide what can and can’t be said. The person who makes the decision will have to kowtow to the mob or have charges of hate speech leveled at them. This is madness.
With free speech one will hear things that one disagrees with (and even believes are lies) and things that one finds offensive — there is no getting around that. Either you have it or you don’t.
“free speech places the burden of critical thinking on the listener”
Unfortunately, the majority of people aren’t critical thinkers. People seek validation, if someone says something that validates their beliefs, they go with it. That’s why social media algorithms are so dangerous and why foreign agitators can so easily manipulate people.
It usually takes some sort of formal education to become an effective and efficient critical thinker. It also takes some form of formal education in ethics to be able to put oneself in an other’s place and to make decisions when faced with equal but potentially opposing rights.
You talk about the right to free speech, how does that weigh against one’s right to be free from oppression?
If a foreign national uses a gun against one’s fellow countrymen, how is that dealt with?
If multiple organized foreign nationals uses guns against one’s countrymen, what’s that called?
Replace speech or social media with guns… it’s the same thing.
You didn’t answer that part either.
Free speech as defined in the Bill of Rights has to do with you and the government. Nothing is stated about a bunch of internet posters voting a troll of the island.
They probably won’t though…look at all the clicks.
Lou_BC,
“If a foreign national uses a gun against..”
How did we get from free speech to shooting people?
Lou_BC,
“Would you still say he was free to spout his opinion?”
You bet I would. Anyone has the right to speak as far as I’m concerned. If we start shutting people up, who is to decide who gets to speak and who doesn’t? That’s a very slippery slope.
Old_WRX,
you’re true liberal!!
“what if he was an Iranian or Chinese troll?”
Well, Ayatollah and Xi can have Twitter/Facebook. Trump can’t. This is new America for you

@oldwrx:
I must have missed the court decision that says that the First Amendment gives you the right to say a bunch of stupid, offensive crap on private property – in this case, this website – that you don’t own. Care to give me the link that one?
I’ll buy your “freedom ‘n whiskey, free speech 4ever” argument when someone says a bunch of stuff you find stupid and offensive on YOUR property, and you concede you have no right to tell that person to stop.
Let me know when that happens. But until then, you and slavuta can enjoy your little echo chamber. Maybe you guys could build a campfire and trade war stories.
FreedMike
“say a bunch of stupid, offensive crap”
Thanks for labeling my comments/opinions “stupid, offensive crap.” I’ll try not to let it go to my head.
@oldwrx:
No, I was just referring to the nonexistent right to say whatever you want on someone else’s property without them having any recourse about it. Nice try on the straw man, though. Give yourself five points. And if it makes you feel better about yourself, give yourself another two…I’m feeling generous.
(For the record, the stuff you spout is just incorrect and wingnutty. Whatever. Then we have slavuta, who has apparently now gotten the idea of eating his neighbors after the imaginary apocalypse because they voted for Biden. His opinion is offensive, period, unless you’re down with the idea of cannibalism.)
Old_WRX,
I see them walking the dog. They are ok. My fridge is full of beef at this point. But Bill Gates did say that synthetic beef will taste just like real
War crimes are not a matter of opinion.
Speaking of war crimes… how about civilian crimes?
—
Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) are raising questions about the rights of people charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, saying that some are being held in solitary confinement—even before their trials have begun.
“Solitary confinement is a form of punishment that is cruel and psychologically damaging,” Warren said in an interview with Politico. “And we’re talking about people who haven’t been convicted of anything yet.”
—
Cruel, means unconstitutional…
slavuta,
You didn’t really eat your neighbors; did you?
@Old_WRX – free speech comes with responsibility. Are lies protected by “free speech”?
Exercising free speech is like owning guns. If you don’t use either responsibly, people get hurt.
If a foreign national uses a gun against one’s fellow countrymen, how is that dealt with?
If multiple organized foreign nationals uses guns against one’s countrymen, what’s that called?
Replace speech or social media with guns… it’s the same thing!
“free speech comes with responsibility.”
Exactly! Where is responsibility in the Biden’s head when he claims that our country is systemically racist, building hate against America all around the world? People around the world now look at America as ask themselves – why do we need to be partners wit ha racist country?
Why don’t you write a an email to your president and tell him – free speech comes with responsibility.
Free speech is a free speech. And if it is with responsibility, it is not free anymore. And no, this is not like guns. With guns – you can do anything you want but there are restrictions – can’t shoot near dwellings, across highways, into other people or hunt animals with under-powered weapon, and more. So, no – you can’t do anything you want with guns and you responsible to follow the law. Free speech does not have such burdens. You don’t like – don’t read, don’t listen, etc. Jewish layer was defending NeoNazis for ability having their marches in America under free speech amendment.
“Free speech is a free speech. And if it is with responsibility, it is not free anymore”
I initially wanted to ridicule you for that statement but that would be irresponsible.
Do you yell fire in a theater when there is no fire?
Do you say that black people should be murdered by white people?
Do you say that it’s okay to have sex with children?
No.
Any responsible person would NOT say those things.
Everything we say or do has consequences. A responsible person would know that.
Lou_BC,
“Do you yell fire in a theater when there is no fire?”
No. And, I wouldn’t even if it was legal.
“Do you say that black people should be murdered by white people?
Do you say that it’s okay to have sex with children?”
As you said “NO.” And, again, I wouldn’t do say either of those things regardless of legalities. (I also wouldn’t say that black people should kill white people.)
It is true that there are a very limited number of things that should be illegal to say. And, there are things one shouldn’t say regardless of legality.
That people of race X should murder people of race Y — that is something that I believe one should not say, but it should not be regulated by the government.
Enacting laws to control every nuance of morality doesn’t work. This is like anti-bullying rules in schools. The anti-bullying rules specify certain actions for which a student can be punished: name calling, threatening, etc. Any bully worth his salt knows how to intimidate without breaking any of those rules. Body posture and voice inflection will do the job just fine. And, of course, the really skillful bully will use the anti-bullying rules to further their bullying. “Accidently” bump into the victim in the hall; the victim yells, “Stop it a-hole”; boom, the victim can now be victimized with the anti-bullying rules.
Legislating morality isn’t possible. Legislation that stipulates subjective standards is madness. Basing laws on the “victims” emotional response…
“Do you say that black people should be murdered by white people?”
I wonder, should black people be murdered by black people?
2016 FBI Stats
776 black-white homicides
533 by blacks
243 by whites
black vs black 2,570
Lou, what are you talking about?
@slavuto – “Lou, what are you talking about?”
You obviously want to change the subject since you don’t know what I’m talking about.
You claim that one should be free to say anything they want regardless of how irresponsible it was. I asked those questions to demonstrate that you are incorrect.
You cry freedom of speech only as a cover for the BS you post.
Ok. I am coming back to the origination of this article – Biden
Biden’s Czar Kerry – Eliminate all CO2 from atmosphere – idiot
https://youtu.be/u8M7gQtUEG8?t=58
And Biden is a failed president with fake agenda, and the ruler of the failed state, which he is admitted to himself
https://youtu.be/a3G7n21p0kY?t=4469
@slavuta – you didn’t answer me earlier… where exactly does Kerry say the plan is to eliminate ALL CO2?
And for the rest of your comment, did your handlers threaten you with polonium for going off script and f^cking up your assignment?
Gotta try stirring up the MAGA crowd again.
Gotta rile up the liberals.
How’s that going for ya?
Keep it up and they’ll send you to the middle-east where you might end up within a klick or two of a JTF2 C15.
“your handlers”
hahahaha. Watch your DNC handlers.
And Yes, Kerry said – “even if we get to net-0 we got to get CO2 out of the atmosphere”.
“even if we get to net-0 we got to get CO2 out of the atmosphere”.
I don’t see **ALL** anywhere in that statement.
But hey you tried….
Most people are too lazy to put any effort into reading. That must be written in Troll School 101 somewhere?
@oldwrx – morality isn’t the same as ethically looking at two equal but conflicting rights. Just like deciding what is illegal is also different than morality or ethics.
“The founders” aka “lawmakers” created the USA constitution. They decided what they thought was needed for the USA to exist. “Ammendments” were made as “lawmakers” found gaps in the constitution.
That isn’t a fixed process. Laws typically are made to ensure the safe and smooth functioning of society. Morality plays a role but as society gets more complex, adjustments need to be made.
I posted those examples to counter both you and Slavuto’s posts saying that almost anything can be said.
Lou_BC,
“as society gets more complex, adjustments need to be made.”
OK, what adjustments would you suggest? Who should be empowered to say who can and can’t say what? What political points of view would be allowed to be spoken and which ones wouldn’t? Who is allowed to make the judgement as to what the “truth” is? And, most importantly, to what end?
Old_WRS,
earlier I’ve called you “a liberal”. Sorry, I did not mean to. Apparently people with liberal views are ill with a schizophrenia-like illness – study shows. From Europe with love
https://www.eutimes.net/2020/02/liberalism-is-a-mental-disorder-akin-to-schizophrenia-according-to-new-study/
@Old_WRX – So now we are focusing on politics only?
Seems to me you and Slavuto were saying people have a right to say anything about everything.
People need to be more active politically. We elect people to office to work for us and the greater good. Courts are the last resort.
One place to start is force media outlets to provide equal time for dissenting views. An opinion host like Tucker Carlson should have a liberal pundit speak their views to counter his arguments just like a conservative pundit should get a shot at Rachel Maddow. There was a time when such laws existed.
Another place would be to ensure lies aren’t disseminated anywhere on the net.
People want validation of beliefs not truth. Make them look at the truth, the real truth. Not a left or right wing spin of the truth.
I mentioned ethics, start there!
Lou_BC,
“Make them look at the truth, the real truth.”
That sounds good, at least theoretically. But, practically speaking, who would have the say so as to what the truth is? We have the supreme court to decide issues of constitutionality. Would need something similar to decide what is true and what is not true? Would it be some part of our horribly partisan government? Some supposedly independent body? Are the courts going to get involved?
“who would have the say so as to what the truth is?”
You sound like a philosophy major.
Facts… Not a left or right interpretation of what happened, just facts.
What is true!”
“Truth – that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.”
No spin, no manipulation, no selective dissemination of information.
The populace needs to be educated in critical thinking, and detecting manipulation. That can easily be taught in school.
I see this site is polluted by the usual cable of stupid fascists.
Too bad you’ll never grow up.
F**K you all.
If you hear us yelling at each other and hear dishes break – don’t worry. We’re just discussing something.
Those are just the voices in your head. They’ll be there until you seek help. Please do so immediately.
the US is becoming less religious and more college educated. both bad news for the GOP. Pretty soon it will just be old white midwesterners who don’t have passports and watch fox news all day
“the US is becoming less religious”
rrrright. All these Latinos, they come with GOD, Family and patriarchy. So, don’t worry. You just created a counter-force. But still, you think you will live in “America” with all these brainwashed college graduates? No, you will live in the country called “Disaster filled with bunch of jagaloon jamokes”. Are they going to be our military? You should watch “idiocracy” the movie.
But you’re right. Mid-westerns will watch Fox, probably ion their own new confederation of states where freedom will be preserved for its citizens.
Don’t like America? Plenty of airports to carry you anywhere you want. It’ll smell better here after you’re gone.
FreedMike
you’re the one who does not like America. This is why you don’t care when bozos like you are ruining it.
FreedMike,
I like America and I was born here and have lived all but two years of my life here. And, one thing I don’t like is the destruction of the values that have made life in the US good — being able to voice your opinion without having to worry about being attacked or arrested; being able to go out in public without some skanky rag over your face, etc.. I’m sick to death of people telling me I should shut up because my views don’t agree with theirs. This has become an epidemic in the last few years.
So, if you’re against free speech, there are plenty of places you can go where they don’t have it. Just find a place where the “official” truth agrees with your opinions and it is illegal to say or think otherwise. No need to trash free speech here.
@oldwrx:
So…”free speech” means anyone can say anything he wants, no matter how incorrect or offensive it is, and and no one has the the right to say anything about it in the name of “free speech”? Bulls**t.
Seems to me your problem is with the people calling someone like slavuta on his s*it.
You have a fundamentally f**ked up idea of free speech, friend. But feel free to hold yourself to your own standards. Next time Biden says something you think is stupid or offensive, silence yourself in the name of free speech. After all, we wouldn’t want to cancel Biden, would we?
but the GOP says all latin immigrants vote democratic. can’t keep yer lies straight can you comrade?
@slavuto – “All these Latinos, they come with GOD, Family and patriarchy”
It’s hilarious that you’d mention them since you are on record as being anti-immigration.
The new Trumpublican party is anti-immigration, anti-Hispanic, anti-Muslim, anti-Indian, anti-Asian and against virtually any non-white immigrant.
Yes, those groups are traditionally conservative but won’t support US Magahat conservatives.
You are struggling to follow along…I take it my questions and comments are throwing you off script.
FreedMike,
“no matter how incorrect or offensive it is, and and no one has the the right to say anything about it in the name of “free speech”?”
1) “no matter how incorrect or offensive it is” Who is to be the judge of what is “incorrect” or “offensive?” This point is crucial. If you want to limit speech to what you consider “correct” and “inoffensive,” who would decide it? If I decided it I would say that a lot of what you have said on here is incorrect — that would mean you couldn’t voice your opinion. And, if you decided it I wouldn’t be able to voice my opinion. And, I’m sorry, but either of those choices it just dumb. I fail to see any reason why I should be allowed to decide nor why you should be allowed to decide.
“1) “no matter how incorrect or offensive it is” Who is to be the judge of what is “incorrect” or “offensive?” This point is crucial. If you want to limit speech to what you consider “correct” and “inoffensive,” who would decide it?”
That would be the victims of your version of free speech deciding.
People have the equal right to freedom from fear, hate, and oppression.
Assault is defined in part as a threat of harm. Anything causing apprehension in a person can be viewed as assault. There does not need to be physical contact for it to occur.
“The new Trumpublican party is anti-immigration, anti-Hispanic, anti-Muslim, anti-Indian, anti-Asian and against virtually any non-white immigrant.”
Don’t worry. As I said multiple times – America is decades behind the trend. Just yesterday French was pro-immigration. But today even Macron is changing the tone. France became terrorist hotbed that hosts millions of people who don’t plan to assimilate. And all Europe now is turning on migration.
May be you should watch who is anti-Asian in reality. All attacks on Asians were by our dark color people. And BTW, Indian are also asian.
You want to live in central America – bring them all here. You will live in central America. But be ready that this is going to get violent, dirty and you will have masses of uneducated folks who will compete with the low-pay Americans. And how exactly will they contribute to SSA enough funds to pay the pensions? And what is going to happen 3 decades later?
Besides… you probably think that what is going on is very smart. In reality US government right now completely decimating central American countries. Ripping them off their youth. I can imagine, those who plan to retire in these countries, lets say in 25 years, who will contribute into their pension plans if their children being thrown over US border wall? Who will build up those countries? Those builders are in America now. I can imagine major border redrawing in the central America.
This drooling idiot should be more concerned about having a solid bowel movement every day.
I am glad you are concerned about Slavuta’s bowels.
Not enough Fibre and too much sitting at that troll farm…LOL
easy, easy, mr DNC propagandist
Biden won fairly and by the same landslide as the Orange Baboon did in 2016. In the last twenty years when a Republican “won” the presidency, it was never by the actual popular vote; in 2000 it was simply given to him by the Supreme Court. I am fine with Socialist Capitalism and equality for all. And anyone thinking the drumpf was a manager, please keep in mind his six bankruptcies and immoral “values”. Good riddance to four years of rule by the fat burger king. Now we just need to wait for him to croak. The sooner the better for faux news. . .
2004?
“it was never by the actual popular vote”
This country was built around the concept that small states and minority also has a voice. Hence filibuster, electoral college. This is not a parliamentary democracy. Here states elect the president.
“Biden won fairly ”
with a lot of different irregularities. For example, in Georgia, they can’t determine where ballots are coming from, still…
“Four months after the November 3, 2020 presidential election, state and county officials in Georgia have failed to produce chain of custody documents for an estimated 404,691 vote by mail absentee ballots deposited in drop boxes and subsequently delivered to county registrars for counting.”
Source: Georgia Star News
A newspaper “Georgia Star News” asked for documents and……..
“Of the 103 counties that failed to comply with the request for data, 35 counties did not respond to The Star News’ request, 33 gave notification that they did not have any drop box locations, 17 acknowledged the request but did not produce the necessary documents. Eight asked for a processing fee to make the ballot data available to the public.”
Wow…. That isn’t proof. The election in Georgia was certified.
LOL
you mean, “certified”. In 1960 we already had this. Back then it was also certified but everyone knew it was bogus.
This thread will never make it to 300 comments.
