Monday marks Memorial Day in America, and therefore, TTAC is taking a break.
Yes, like many of you, we will be off Monday.
We’ll also be light on posts today, with a shutdown sometime in the early afternoon.
As per usual, celebrate/honor our war dead safely (especially with COVID still lurking, especially if you haven’t been vaccinated yet), don’t drink and drive, and get what we all hope is going to be a post-pandemic summer (at least in some parts of the world — the devastation elsewhere is heartbreaking) started off right.
We’ll be back next week, with the usual shenanigans.
Until then, enjoy your weekend.

With all of the noise this past year – Covid, election, the “scandal of the day”, etc. – it’s very easy to forget that there are still brave men and women overseas fighting for America. It’s tragic that not all of them will return.
My grandfather, who fought in the Philippines during WWII, was so traumatized and upset about what he experienced in the horrors of war that he never really talked about what he went through and (we think) destroyed or gave away many of his war records and medals. After a couple of years of looking and working with military records, a picture was finally found and his banner will be on display with so many of his fellow soldiers this weekend in his tiny hometown in rural Ohio.
May you and yours have a peaceful and honorable Memorial Day.
Thanks for all the good work by the staff here. Have a good weekend!
I will continue to criticize when necessary, but I really do appreciate the hard work you put into keep this site running and the content you provide. It’s been a rough year for most.
I wish you and your families (pets included, especially for the lonely) the very best over this holiday weekend.
May everyone have a safe enjoyable holiday weekend. Take a moment to reflect on the intent behind Memorial day, for those who paid the ultimate price.
Thanks for all your hard work.
May we remember on Memorial Day that every single soldier or sailor who gave their life for this country was a real human being, and that we should have a damn good reason and an equally good strategy when we send those human beings into harm’s way.
There will be no shortage of veterans for the long future.

slavuta-
You are a pathetic idiot.
Don’t measure others by own standards.
Just to be clear Slavuta, nobody is honoring the “fallen Taliban” that you claimed to fight “shoulder to shoulder” and “eat soup from the same bowl” with. Perhaps you are looking for a different holiday.
Art,
how did that became the destination point of this conversation? But since you’ve touched it, I think you should, as an American, remember those in Taliban (or pre-Taliban same people) who died for your cause during the original Afghanistan war.
Well I guess I just didn’t have any Billy Joel cued up for the occasion.
It is not a good idea to learn History by listening pop-musicians. At least try Hard Rock.
