Nissan

A Nissan dealership employee shared what appears to be a presentation slide of the upcoming Z’s launch timing.

If true, it confirms that the car will go on sale in June.

Other key dates include the first drive for automotive media in April — we hope to snag an invite, and if we don’t make the cut we’ll do our best to get a loaner car for review ASAP — and the start of production in March.

It looks like the ad/marketing campaigns will hit in August.

The new Z has been garnering attention for a long time now, and it’s finally about time for us to drive the thing. And for intenders to be able to actually buy one.

About time we heard something. Hope TTAC makes the test-drive cut. I’ve been clamoring for more details for a long time now, and will be eagerly awaiting reviews / first drives!

I can’t wait to read a comparison test vs the upcoming Supra manual said to be coming. All things being equal I like the Z styling much better, and the manual will be available on a base model vs. the Supra only being avail on the fully loaded model

Been reading about if for so long I honestly thought it was already on sale. This will be another indicator if Nissan still cares about making cars. Both Corey and Jo did articles on the subject here on TTAC. The savage geese review of the new Pathfinder also illustrates the lack of Nissan really giving a rip about the final product. I don’t think the new Z will be a paragon of quality. I guess if it’s cheap enough all is forgiven.

Will last a model year or two and then be discontinued. Too little, too late.

They might keep it around but I don’t expect sales to move the needle after the rush of gotta-have-it customers and YouTube flippers. I moved on and got a used C7 Z51 3 years ago. Infiniti had this engine back in 2016. The new Z should have been on sale in 2020.

These 400Zs, like other Infinitis, will make great used car bargains due to steep depreciation provided this current over MSRP car bubble finally pops.

Wish there would be a version of this car with a manual and a vestigial back seat in the same car.

Sort of an Infiniti G35 coupe?

The back seat in the G37 is already so small its basically worthless. I know because we have one. The Z needs to stay as a 2 seater with a hatch, just way more usable that way. Not sure about the strut tower brace on this new one, but that was really the only downside to the previous Z’s usability. Interior quality is another topic.

Is this going to use a version of the VQ, or is this going to be yet another turbocharged 2.0 four-banger?

This will be a fun car that’s bashed by those who can’t afford one. They would have somehow come up with the money if it had only been a tiny bit faster/prettier/more refined, etc.

Nissan 400Z is diamond form of 1990s GT sports car. My concern is that the yesteryear approach will have limited appeal and shelf life. I like it. I always have my eye on it. It’s known to be good, but the price went high. Now that time has moved on, does Nissan Z get cross shopped with the Polestar O2 or will Polestar O2 be much more expensive and limited in numbers?

Please let the next one be inspired by the Z32 model.
