Lincoln is promising three new fully-electric vehicles by 2025. Ford’s luxury arm took the wraps off of a concept previewing one of them last night.
Lincoln claims a fourth EV will debut by 2026.
The concept hints at the design the brand will employ for its EVs — that’s one news nugget we were able to glean from a buzzword-heavy press release that prompted eye rolls from this editor.
We do know the doors will be backlit and the star in the Lincoln logo will light up when drivers approach the vehicle. We also know that the planned platform will be able to accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive setups.
Lincoln also promises that its EVs will be able to wirelessly “talk” to other vehicles and infrastructure and that there will be new advanced driver-aid systems, such as what Lincoln calls “Help Me See” and “Park for Me.” Both seem self-explanatory.
The concept’s cabin has wraparound seating, a “lounge posture”, leg rests, device storage, and a glass cooler for beverages.
The A- and D-pillars are transparent with metal latticework that is visible from the inside, and there’s a full skylight with a digital shade. There are infotainment screens for both seating rows, and Lincoln offers three “rejuvenation” modes that are meant to help occupants relax. They’re tied to the time of day, and Lincoln makes vague promises about how software updates could lead to more customization in the future.
There’s a front trunk with glass that can shift from transparent to opaque, one-pedal driving, a floating instrument panel, a hidden compartment for secure storage of expensive electronic devices like laptops that also has wireless charging, and a cargo-area outdoor chair.
The Star is a concept, so it’s hard to say what, if any, features are slated for production any time soon. Our take is that it brings back the old-fashioned, uh, concept of having concept cars — something auto shows have been sorely lacking. It could’ve been the star of the New York Auto Show last week (pun fully intended).
Oh well. No matter when the wraps came off, it looks pretty good, and some of the features sound useful, while others seem silly (rejuvenation modes? Really?). We’ll be keeping an eye on Lincoln to see what actually makes production.

Is this a joke? Lincoln went from what were essentially production ready concepts to whatever this unimaginative blob is. The only recognizable design feature makes people think of an entirely different brand. Nothing says success like an entire press event with zero substance and just a couple of digitally rendered pictures. Bravo Lincoln.
It’s also amazing how many “saviors” Lincoln has had over the years. The Zephyer, the MKS, the MKT, the Escape rebadge (I can’t remember what random letter that vehicle was), the Navigator, the Aviator, etc. This brand just needs to go away. It’s been mismanaged into irrelevance.
I’ll take the exterior shape, but most of these ‘features’ will die on the design floor – thankfully – starting with the complex trash compactor front trunk.
Maybe it really is a late April Fool’s joke.
I do like how Lincoln is continuing the retro design by incorporating the look of blown out rear airbags. Started with the Aviator and continues with this MS Paint rendered fake concept vehicle.
The real-life production version will include door handles, side-view mirrors, windshield wipers and license plates. I wonder who photoshopped them off of this bar of soap?
It will also come with a $9,995.00 “market adjustment” as standard equipment.
I wonder if the cow-catcher is spring-loaded? (Or does it work in conjunction with the hood to devour pedestrians?)
Id be happy if they just started using names again. Lincoln lost me with the alphabet soup names. It looks like they brought them back for the CUV’s

Hmm. I kinda like the Lyriq’s looks, now that they’re in production.
To each his own! Personally, I hate the rear end treatment. The rest is standard-issue CUV.
But I’m interested to see how well the Ultium platform is executed here.
I like the looks of the Lyriq as well and waiting to see how reliable it will be. Might buy one in the future.
Earth to Lincoln, find and resurrect the body of the Kennedy-era Lincoln designers. Find and exterminate all the present ones. Launch the bodies into space so that they do not contaminate styling ever again. I don’t know if it’s my age, but I’m underwhelmed with pretty much all styling I see in present day cars. Germany? Gasp. Japan? Meh. South Korea shows some promise. America? Spotty.
All I want from Lincoln is a rebadged Mustang with cushy leather and floaty suspension. I mean the coupe, not the electric CUV they slapped a pony badge on.
I know I’ll never ever get it, since Ford and the rest of the market refuse to make anything shorter than a crossover, but I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

I would love for Lincoln to bring back the Mark series Coupe. Always loved them. Even the 70’s barges.
This so-called vehicle looks straight out of a Quantum Leap episode from 1989 where Sam has to save the Lincoln company from taking CyberTruk-level risks with the future of their portfolio.
At this rate, the only sane choice left for any of us will be a Jeep.
Most intriguing feature has to go to the flat seats with minimal padding, and sharp edges in all the wrong places. For human bodies, at least. If this is meant as transport for non-humans, then it might make sense.
