In an introductory post last week, I detailed a couple of cars I was considering as a replacement to my decade-old Infiniti M. The comments (some filled with unusual anger) prodded me to add another car to the list.
A week later, I can tell you that two of those former options are absolutely out of the question.
It is impossible to ignore the present pattern in the Buy/Drive/Burn series. We’ve had three entries in the series so far, two of which have been coupe-focused. The coupe category spans three continents, each with its own idea of what a rear-drive coupe should be. Which one will burn?
Convertibles are a niche market, and Infiniti doesn’t feel it’s a market worth pursuing. At least, not right now.
The automaker’s product strategy chief confirmed to Car Advice that a droptop version of its second-generation Q60 coupe isn’t in the cards, eliminating the open-air option from the brand’s lineup.

After keeping the G37 Coupe on life support past its sell-by date, the Q60 two-door sport coupe is finally getting a complete overhaul for 2017.
Just one question: How many hundreds of horsepower do you want? 200? 300? 400?
One thing you can be sure of: when a Japanese auto maker releases a “concept” you can bet that the production version will be pretty close to it.
