Dodge's horny longhorns at the Detroit Auto Show were just the beginning. Chrysler's Firehouse media blog reveals that the automaker's decided to put the horns back into their slogan. Last year, The Dodge Boys gelded "Grab life by the horns," transforming the brand's advertising exhortation into the Zen-like (i.e. vague) "Grab Life." Even though Dodge used "Grab Life by the Horns" since 2001, they hoped that removing the grabby part of the strapline (how butch is that?) would make the brand more appealing to female buyers. Unfortunately, the new version didn't go over well with truck buyers, who account for the most of Dodge's (not to mention Chrysler's) profits. Taking the bull by the horns, Chief Marketing Officer Deborah Meyer disclosed that that Dodge is reviving the original "Grab Life by the Horns" line for the 2009 Ram. The new version won't horn in on the car ads, though. Their automotive slogan will remain "Grab life." Perhaps they should sell that one to Buick, with a parenthetical "while you can" at the end.

I can’t help but think of this every time I see the Dodge logo. But then, being a male, I am usually thinking of it anyway.
oh wow I’m not the only one who thought the Dodge logo looks a little too much like a uterus and ovaries.
it still bothers me though :P
“Grab life” is about as lame as Cadillac’s “life, liberty, and the pursuit.” Or Caddy’s earlier “the power of &.”
Yet another example of American makers having no clue how to save themselves. Dodge spent close to a decade developing themselves as the MANBrand! (R) only to spontaneously emasculate themselves.
Dear Det 3 (Debt 3?):
Great product + great reliability = marketing won’t matter.
Get it?

Frank: Shouldn’t Buick’s slogan be: “Grab Life…..Support“?
Martin: I was thinking more like “Grab the Metamucil.”
Good to hear. It was a mistake to try and sissify the slogan in the first place.
Anyone remember when Ford used the tag lines: Quality is Job One???? Or when they put on the keys “family of fine cars”???? They don’t use those anymore. Wonder why???????? Cause it isn’t true!!!! Cost cutting and cheap materials are job one and job two is keeping the customer snowed with the idea that Ford products are as good as or better than the compitition (manily the Japanese). That is till the poor sap tries to trade the thing in (hopfully on something other than a Ford) and sees what shitty trade-in value he/she is getting then they realize why they got such a GREAT deal from the friendly local neighborhood Ford pusher. !!!!!!!
P:S., I’m sure more than one salesperson has done a happy dance when the customer rolls off the lot. And at the party this is heard: WE SOLD ONE, WE SOLD ONE, I can make my mortage payment this month !!!!!!
