AMC used a colour like this in the early 70s, if I remember correctly. It should have stayed there.

AMC: “Big Bad Blue”
Saturn used one similar to it on the ION Quad “Summertime Blue” IIRC.
Whatever they call it it’s wretched, though Ford did have a shade close to that in the late 60s, early 70’s. You could get it on the Maverick “Grabber”, the Pinto and the Mustang. Where are the racing stripes ?
Earl Scheib offers a shade that’s similar in it’s “basic” color palette : the ones they offer to get you to pay more money for the prettier colors they offer with the more expensive paint job. It would look good on an old 1st Gen Saturn.
Not as bad as BMW’s Palmolive Green.
Say what you want about it, but at least it’s an identifiable color unlike the metallic greyish-goldish-silverish paint schemes found on most every car these days.
Dweezil, according to the dealer order guide for the ’10 Mustang (http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=474766) this is indeed Grabber Blue.

But really, at such a pivotal point in Ford’s life it’s hard to get excited about a ponycar
I’ve owned several Fords over the years and I’ve been a mostly satisfied customer — I really want them to survive
It’s gonna take more than conical-shaped instrument surrounds to save their bacon
It appears to be the same Ford Grabber Blue that adorns the exterior of my 260Z. Great color and really stands out in the sunlight.
Thing is, I’ve seen new Mustangs painted in the orange of the old Bud Moore Trans-Am cars and now seeing this car in Grabber Blue, it just doesn’t seem to work as well as on the late-60s, early-70s Mustangs.
I would call it: Kinda ‘Blue’ It
Petty Blue.
Gulf Porsche Blue minus the Orange bits.

If the dusty recesses of my memory serve me correctly, this colour is famous for one thing. At the time it was thought to be a one-off, but I have read elsewhere that were two 69 Cougar Eliminators with a Boss 429. One of them, the only one I have seen pics of, is Grabber Blue. Now you know.

Azure Blue ’03-’04 Mach I’s were the most sought after color when new and are still sought after by those looking for a used Mach I. It’s one of those colors that must be seen in person to appreciate.

Ford paint code: NO
Reminds me of Laguna Seca Blue from the E46 M3 (a horrid combination imo), but it’s most likely an homage to Grabber Blue from the 1970 Mustangs. My buddy in high school had a Mach 1 clone in this color with the black spoiler and louvers, and that certainly was a sharp car. This one, not so much. And that interior – talk about plastic fantastic! No wonder that interior designer looks so beaten down and discouraged – the bean counters have crushed his soul.
I can’t believe you swiped a video clip from that blog about autos. And a Mustang one at that! Have you no shame?
It IS Grabber blue. Beyond a doubt.

I love it. It reminds me of Audi’s Nogaro Blue.

It’s “Grabber Blue” of ’70 and ’71 Mustang Mach 1, Boss 302, 351, 429 (and other Ford/Mercury muscle car) fame.

I had a ’70 Boss 302 that color. The 2010 would look better with some black-out treatment, like the ’70 did…i.e, between the taillights under the character line, and maybe on the hood.
Whenever I use to “Blue Coral” that ’70 Mustang in that color, I always got compliments. That ’70 Boss was quite a chick magnet. It got me laid a lot!
Hmmmmmm. Might have to look into a 2010 ‘Stang, say, in about 3 years when the first owners swallow a big bite of depreciation…..I am sure that is not what Mr. Mullaly wants to hear….
its most defintely not Laguna Seca Blue that was available on the M3 and M coupe/roadster.

It’s the wheels I’m not so sure about. Conflicting opinions between, “cool these look like the wheels on my Matchbox cars” or “These are from a Cimarron”
Ford, Chrysler and AMC all offered a variation of this shade of blue in the late 1960s, early 1970s. A slightly darker shade was offered on the Mach 1 Mustang a few years ago.
I like the sequential lights.
And that’s all.
My old buddy Steven had a ’71 Cougar in this color, but badly faded from 18 years in the Colorado sun. It had the 429, and it was the best burnout-mobile I’ve ever rolled in. It could lay down a smoke screen like a World War I destroyer.
Handling? Not so much.

Back in the ’70’s you could get a Ford [McCain??] Maverick in this color, Grabber Blue. It also came with ugly flat black tape stripes and hood applique. I can hardly wait for Obama Orange!
That looks like “Grabber Blue”, a color option on Mustangs from about 1969 to 1971
According to the Marti Auto Works report for my 70 Mach 1 there were 2695 Mustangs produced that year in Grabber Blue.
