Subject: GM Dealership Employee Discount for Family
——————————————————————————–
Beginning Monday December 8, 2008, GM is offering a temporary program allowing GM Dealership Employees the opportunity to offer GMS (Employee Discount) pricing to the same eligible family members that GM Employees do.
This means that GM Dealership employees can offer GMS pricing to their spouse, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, grandparents (including in-law and step), parents, stepparents, siblings (including full, half and step), mother/father in-law, sons/daughter in-laws, brothers/sisters in-law, and same sex domestic partner (SSDP) where applicable (NOTE: Eligible SSDPs are treated the same as spouses, and therefore, their dependent children and stepchildren are also included).
Eligible family members must take delivery by January 5, 2009 and may only purchase GM vehicles that the employing dealership location is franchised to sell or from GM dealerships owned by the sponsoring Dealer Operator at the time of delivery. The program excludes Saab vehicles.
To get an authorization number for your family member, log in to gmded.com and select “Dealership Employee Discount for Family” along the left. Enter your eligible family member’s date of birth and zip code and get you authorization number
Authorization numbers for this program must be submitted for payment to BARS by January 5, 2009.

The program excludes Saab vehicles.
LOL. Why?!
Wouldn’t want to sell any of those Saab vehicles, now would we!
I was more troubled by the URL “gmded.com”. Anyone say that out loud before they registered it?

Including SSDPs, excluding Saab
Go figure…
gmded.com? How ironic yet awesome.
The program excludes Saab vehicles.
Why? Other than the fact that Saabs probably aren’t stacked like cordwood in parking lots across the nation, I’d imagine GM would want to move the metal they’ve got.
I don’t think I’d bite at this level, but but the price of the 9-5 wagon to, oh, CAD$25K and I might. And hey, the switchgear is pretty much the same as my 2002 9-3, which is pretty much the same as a 1994 900, so Saab buyers would feel right at home.
Now that the government will own part of GM, will the whole country qualify for GMS pricing? They should.
It’s an annoyance here in the Detroit area to be bombarded with ads begging you to buy a domestic when the prices they highlight include employee discounts, lease rebates, and other incentives that only employees qualify for. It’s as if the Big 3 only want to sell to their employees. Therefore, don’t take the federal cash and ask your employees to loan you $10B. You’re only going to sell to them anyways, so don’t bother the rest of us!
I wonder if this will be as successful as Ford’s Thanksgiving Day present to it’s employees and Detroit residents. Ford, according to reports, offered hugely discounted tickets to it’s employees for the Lions-Titans game on Thanksgiving to sell the game out and avoid the dreaded local blackout. Given the outcome, perhaps they should have just kept the tickets.
Saab’s excluded because GM plans to sell them before the end of the year.
I wouldn’t call broadcasting the Lions game a “present”. More like waterboarding torture, which is illegal.
GO LIONS! 0-16 IS IN SIGHT!!!
Still waiting for the Federal Government to bail out the Detroit Lions….

Back when they sill had a piece of Subaru they really could have gotten some mileage out of this.
Time out!
Isn’t GM running Employee Pricing for the entire f’ing country right now?
How is this a Christmas present? It’s already offered to everyone!
Omnifan :
I have a lot of respect for the Lions. They make me feel better about the Seahawks this season.
Which price is better, the GMS or Red Tag? My local dealer has a nice 2008 Corvette I’ve been watching.
So what does this mean- employees and everybody they know can now qualify for the same Red Tag employee prices that the rest of the country can?
Merry Christmas from your local supermarket; today we will give you bags you can use to carry your purchases out of the store.
Merry Christmas from the Coast Guard, we present you with beaches to enjoy.
GO LIONS! 0-16 IS IN SIGHT!!!
Seeing as I am (still, and for no reason I can identify) a UW Huskies fan, I like to think I have a kindred spirit with Lions fans.
Yo GM employees!!!
If GM ever goes completely Crazy Eddie with ’employee pricing’, let me know. My price point is $12K cash for a nicely equipped 4×4 Silverado. Put it on Ebay under an “Ihatetrees” special!
Saab has always been excluded in GM promotions- an annoyance because I accumulated a lot of ‘points’ on GM credit card. Don’t ask me why…
I should get something back for my bailout bucks.
Okay GM, where’s my Christmas present, dammit? She had better not be a GM car, and she’d better be wearing a pretty red bow.
Uhhh, maybe I should be more specific than that…
