What type of small furry mammal is hanging onto his face?

Dude, the ten word contest is in the other thread.

Bong rips and cartoon network, indeed.

    Hilariously cheesy.

My face is itching just looking at that guy.

Okay now I watched the whole thing and I really want to smack him. This is why I can’t live in SF.

They should have just named it “Scoul”, in a salute to Scion.

I wanna punch him in his glasses :D

Wow a sunroof….what a miraculous age we live in. What next, man walking on the moon?
    …….

My soul just left my body after watching such a cheese filled video.

Geez, why didn’t they just GET Weird Al Yankovich, instead of his celebrity impersonator?

Also: OH NO YOU DID NOT MAKE HOUNDTOOTH PATTERN SEATS. I am 10% intrigued and 90% horrified. Exactly what are we supposed to do next season, when that’s so last season?!

I’m going to hide in my 05 xB until this all blows over. Eating Scion’s lunch, indeed. And why the hell not? Scion abandoned it, after all!

I loved it when he comes out on his mountain bike, does a spin and says “check it”.

    Wowza.

At least he didn’t call the Soul extreme.

Hey, it’s what’s worse than marketing delivered by an out of touch old man!

Weird Al would have been cool.

Is the market for trendy cars for trendy people starting to dry up, the trendy people having moved on to Ipods and MacBooks and electric scooters?

The real eco-trendy mobile should be a hand brazed chromo frame single speed bicycle. Better yet, a bamboo frame. It’s being done.

    sorry…………..way too ?
    disgusting?

That guy’s moving up in the world. He used to sell cough drops.

Can’t see the face with all that fur, but the name sounds familiar. A quick google search and turns out that we both went to CCS (for transportation design) back in the late 1990s. Saw him around campus, or around metro Detroit. Or something.

No matter, seeing him in this video reminded me why I left car design and rarely regret my decision.

Awesome monocog bicycle – just the thing I need for the neighborhood. The Soul on the other hand is a rebodied Kia Rio.

The last time I saw a guy with a beard like that he either had an explosive belt strapped to his waist, or was driving a horse and buggy.

That guy needs to go to the gym for an upper body workout.

My ’73 Ford Pinto wagon had houndstooth patterned fabric inserts on the seats. I have to admit it’s kinda cool in a way,

Furry mammals, indeed. Hey, its his choice what wierd-ass facial hair he wants to cultivate, but man, oh, man, what marketing whiz thought that his should be the face that tries to sell the Soul?

I suppose if they are trying to scream non-conformist, the guy fits.

Disclaimer: I watched only 30 seconds of the video without sound. Can’t comment on cheese.

Usta Bee: the guy kinda looks Amish, doesn’t he? But if he was, he wouldn’t be designing cars… Hmmm…

    I think it’s funny.

I just wonder whom this is targeted to. The sarcastic Scion fan? Because while I appreciate the sarcasm, I do it for the reason that I wouldn’t want to be seen near anything like that.

Well hell he does have a single speed there doesn’t he. Thanks Old and Slow.

No no no, usta bee and dean… Amish never wear mustachio but only a beard. Upper lip facial hair is something which denotes “military man” and to the Amish and other conservative anabaptist brethren, they never wish to be confused with the military as they are Ambassadors of Christ and pacifists.

I thought the vid was “fun” and realized that, obviously, it was PR bumph.

That does not take away from the fact that Hyundai and Kia are doing exceptionally well in a very tough economy, and will end up doing better than GM… even if GM survives.

I’ve seen better beards on the lower body of a few ex girlfriends. Seriously. Take male hormones and grow a real beard. So irritating I want to tie him up and burn candle wax all over his body.

Between that and the press release the odds of me buying one dropped to somewhere close to 0 even though I like the exterior.

Where are all these hipsters supposed to come from to buy these Scions and Souls?

Maybe its just me, but from my not terribly distant youth I think the kind of people who would be impressed by that glow in the dark interiors are precisely the kind of people who are either driving whatever Mom & Dad bought for them or some 10 year old Impala. Generally by the time you can afford a new car this kind of posturing is actively repugnant.

Take a line from Honda, and just advertise the cars as cars, and let the styling speak for itself. Don’t slather it in LOLspeak and cheap bling. The Live Journal set may drool over it, but they won’t be able to buy it. Especially now that Mom and Pops 401(k) rolled over and died.
