Can you tell how many cylinders the RS4 is packing? The sleeper/understated sports car is kinda audis things.

though im not sure how subtle you can be in an R8

I never met a V10 that I liked. Too many revs, not enough rumble.

Other than some flashy new wheels – nothing. Connoisseurs of exotic sports cars appreciate subtlety in differentiation. Unless it’s a Porsche – where whale-tails and ridiculous paint schemes are mandatory.

For that kind of coin, I’ll take a Ferrari, thank you. As nice as the R8 is, if I’m spending coin like that I want women to wet themselves when they see me driving down the road. The R8 really doesn’t elicit that emotion. Not from my girl anyway.

I’ll see your V10 and raise you a supercharged LSA, with it’s extra 160 lb-ft.

Why not spend the same amount and get the Gallardo?

Sorry, but if Audi REALLY wanted to be different, they’d go Diesel on this.

I thought that the 6.0 V-12 from the Audi A8 and VW Phaeton was supposed to be an option for this. No?

I’ll take a Gallardo LP 560-4 over this. They’re the same price but the Lambo has Italian passion and a bad-ass image. The R8 is as delusional as Lewis Carroll in its aspirations.

I guess the upside is that you’re not a douchebag who drives a Lambo. Is it better to be a jerk-off who paid too much for an Audi?

I like it a lot. A supercar that can be a daily driver, and yet not so expensive that in a few years us mere mortals would be able to afford one.

I was in downtown Chicago today and saw one driving in the Loop. A supercar is not something you see in Chicago in December

They did the V12 TDI R8 as a concept car (twas at NAIAS last year) and it was beautiful. It had the same bulging air intakes of this V10 model, but nicer wheels.

And yeah, then at least it wouldn’t be on the gallardo platform, with a gallardo engine, for gallardo price, without the ability to make men and women alike get wet as it drives down the road.

I’ve never been a fan of the R8’s styling but its hard to argue with an 8700 rpm 525hp engine.

Johnster: The A8/Phaeton 6-litre is a W12 meant for things big and heavy, different entirely from the much higher-revving (hence ‘sportier’) V10.

Surprised how visually undifferentiated this is from the now-lesser other model. Rims are ugly. Is this not the R8-S? It seems not, which seems dumb.

I recently saw a black one in rural Ontario. That’s a lot of front overhang.

As badass as it is, I’m afraid I’d still take the LP560 for nearly the same price. You’ve done a fantastic job Audi, but no thank you.
