While GM finishes its 40-year rush to judgement, heading for its June 1 date with a bankruptcy judge, there are still such things as GM customers. You know; millions of people who own GM products. And these people are—shock!—still buying cars and getting their cars serviced. And there, on the sharp end, dealers, salesmen, service managers and technicians are all attempting to come to grips with the competitive, financial and psychological dangers implicit in a GM C11. To calm these troubled souls, GM’s North America Vice President of Vehicle Sales and Service has been Bob Marleying these forward troops, telling them that every little thing’s gonna be alright. To that end, last month, Mark LaNeve announced the launch of a “weekly conversation” with GM dealers: “reinventing GM.” There was one e-mail communication on April 3.

It’s just as well, I guess. GM “leaders” have no credibility anyway; Fritz admitted that a while back.

Anyone foolish enough to still buy a General Motors product deserves whatever additional screwing they’re likely to get.

A car is hardly an “investment”. At best it can be a wise decision, at worst – simply a gamble. I feel no sympathy for those who willingly choose the latter.

I assume this screenshot came from a dealer or GM insider.

They are not to be spending their bailout bucks on IT. The sender appears to be running Windows 2000, a 9-year old version, and what I can only assume is the free version of ATG anti-virus.

At least they have a shortcut link to TTAC!

The best part is that now that this screen shot has appeared on TTAC, there are 10 I.T. trolls at GM who have been assigned to “reverse engineer” their way to identifying this non-believer who has penetrated the bureaucracy! Go get him, boys!

Yes indeed TexN.If the non- believer is found to be inside GM or a dealer. They should escort his sorry ass out the door.

Yesterday was the U.S. financial system, today GM, and tommorrow will be U.S. government.

That bankruptcy will be a doozy. The only question will be when that tomorrow arrives.

When you logon to GM GlobalConnect, your name and dealership name are displayed at the top of the page shown above (I work at a GM dealer). You’ll see the scrollbar on the right has been moved down thus hiding the ID at the top!

What do they have now, 46 days to “reinvent GM”? I can’t understand how so many people, with so many degrees, so much business experience, and so much support can be so damn clueless. Is it possible that GM is the largest company in the world that is run this poorly? What a colossal failure. I still don’t look forward to seeing the impact of a GM C11.

    Mikey,
Actually I was being ironic with the “go get him, boys!” My guess is that if a few more GM employees who dared point out GM flaws over the years (such as you’ve done on TTAC)were listened to by management instead of being escorted out of the building, GM may be in a different situation today.

@TexN Yeah I hear ya.But at my low level I wasn’t privy to,too much inside info. The last “flaw” I pointed out to GM management, set my retirement package to the fast forward mode.

However with the money secure in the bank, and the car parked in the driveway. My premature ejection, might of been a happy ending after all.

They’re probably in India. And India has left for the day.

I work for a small GM/Chrysler store in NM. I was raised in the car business, I’m a car nut. I don’t agree with the bailout. GM/Chrysler needs a come to JESUS meeting with someone other than nOBAMA! The AMERICAN people are speaking right now, we want something more than the crap they build! Gm has a couple good cars through their 6 brands and a good truck. Chrysler has the Jeep Wrangler and Dodge has the Cummins. The rest are fillers that nobody will buy even with big rebates. The only people that are buying new right now are people that’ll stroke a check or need a new car. All others are buying used. The only way to get this thing rolling if we make it to the other side is MONEY on the hood! And some kind of financing for people that have a heartbeat. Sorry for the rant, but GM/Chrysler need to be revamped and QUICK!

You’re right nudave, anyone who would buy a GM car at this point does need to have their head examined. After GM and GMAC screwed my long-time local GM dealer out of business, I won’t be so stupid to replace my 2007 Yukon XL Denali with another one (although I do really like the truck). When GMAC was going down in flames last winter, they cut off the dealer’s credit lines (causing him to shut down)and refused to re-negotiate with him even after they got their bank holding status and bailout. And GM didn’t lift a finger to help a dealer who, over the last 35 years, sold 1.5 million cars and trucks for them. So you know what, my next purchase will be a Toyota. GM doesn’t give a shit about their customers, or for that matter, their more productive dealers. And, to budskisnm, why don’t you go work for a dealer who doesn’t sell GM/CHrysler? If I was as bitter as you are (and I am towards GM/Chrysler) I sure as hell wouldn’t sell their cars anymore.

The lease on my sister’s 2006 Malibu expires in one month. Overall it was a very good car that didn’t give her any problems. However, unless she gets a very good deal on her next lease, she will never deal with GM again.

    WHY, you ask?

They sent her a nastygram one day before her final lease payment was due, threatening to report her to TRW. However, she has made every lease payment on time. There’s even a 10 day grace period if she was late.

Anyway, she wrote back to GM with some choice words like “no wonder you people are going bankrupt.”

“However, unless she gets a very good deal on her next lease, she will never deal with GM again.”

So she’s still willing to sacrifice her dignity and morals for a price? Then maybe there’s still hope for GM.
