Just because we can doesn’t mean we should. Or will.
Why is an Australian advertisement making heavy use of an Obama-ism. I mean, I am sure Australians have likely heard of Obama, but is he the same cultural phenomenon over there that he is here?
Didn’t Barry drive a Chrysler 300 before he had to switch to a politically correct hybrid for the presidential campaign?
Surely there are some pics of him floating around they can use for adverts.
This almost looks like a Saturday Night Live sketch.

Not to as great an extent as he is here, but he’s a phenomenon the world over (is the honeymoon over yet?).
What’s more amusing is that apparently generic guy with a Seppo accent is enough to pass for B.O. to Aussie ears.

Because they are American cars? VW uses a black German-accented Hitlermobile in their current ads, Daimler/Chrysler used to have Dieter Zetsche as Dr. Z touting the Teutonic-American partnership.
Jeep is an American brand with global recognition.
Too bad they don’t seem to be able to parlay that global recognition into global sales or even a global standard motor vehicle
*BARF!*

Thanks for making me lose my lunch… ugh.
Post C7, can I have a V8 Dakota with a 6 speed?
Actually, make it two. For $8K (each).
Yes, I (hopefully) can!
i can honestly say there isn’t much of the chrysler fleet that is truly worth buying even at $10k post obama
the challenger maybe? charger? otherwise the cars are all very very ordinary
You’re right. That’s not the new Chrysler advert in Australia. That one had been playing since the inauguration but the new one started airing just this week in Sydney. It features a “Terry Gilliam”-style Obama being egged on by “Terry Gilliam”-style Arnold Schwarzenegger to drop Chrysler prices and, though it’s a bit of a giggle, it hasn’t convinced me to trade-in my cramped Peugeot for a more-cramped Jeep.
