It looks terribly photochopped (headlights have odd geometry, the rear looks nonexistent, not just concealed by the shot angle, etc.), and the whole thing looks like an angry koi.
And a sub-Mini Mini seems pointless. (This is based on a site other than pistonheads saying they believed it was a sub-Mini model, not the standard Mni)
So much anger for such a little car.

It doesn’t have a fake air intake on the hood, so it can’t be turbocharged.
If it’s a new mini, it looks pretty much like the old one. which was the same as the older one.
is this a new sub compact mini that is actually about the size of a ‘real’ alec issigonis mini?
New lights and bonnet for the Mini? WTF4? They’d be better off spending any extra on fixing the auto box or making the options cheaper.

If Joan Rivers was able to make an angry face, it might look like that. I vote: not real.
skygreenleopard: actually the 1st gen and the the 2nd gen only look near-identical on first blush. I used to feel the same way you do until I bought a 1st gen ’05 a a couple months ago, now the styling differences starting with the 07+ models versus the 1st gen are quite obvious, and not in a way that I particularly like. As if they took “facelifting” the styling a little to literally.
I think it’s the upcoming Mini micro-SUV.

I believe those are real eyeballs, likely from a giant squid, lurking under the headlight covers.
I can’t imagine what might be hanging under the rear bumper.
The MINI has a one-piece bonnet that includes the headlights and grill. The photo shows a car with a hood/bonnet line between the headlights.
Looks like it could scare the silly grin off a new Mazda 3…
