Although it’s seldome the rub strip didn’t wrap around to the wheel well. Also, the lack of length of the rear bumper would lead to something smaller than an A-Body car and lack of ribbing means it’s not a Pontiac.
Those taillights remind me of the Reatta but I doubt that’s it.
Damn; those GM products from that vintage all look the same, don’t they?
It is around the same time Ford made that Lincoln ad that said you couldn’t tell the difference between a Cadillac, Buick, and Oldsmobile! They were right on.
We are right back to square one now. Most Asian cars look alike today unless you look closely at the badge or grille. The Hyundai Genesis, Lincoln MKS, Buick LaCrosse, Lexus GS, Infinity sedans all look very similar to Mercedes and BMW designs. From behind the Hyundai Sonota looks just like a previous gen Accord. The Camry looks like Mazda in front, the new Malibu looks like a foreign car etc. The only designs that stand out are usually from Ford, Nissan, Chrysler and a few notables from GM. The rest are all looking increasingly alike.
No one has dared try to copy the fugliness of a Subaru and then actually try to sell it although Pontiac came close. We all know what happened to them.
The big as a 14″ family size pizza fuel cap screams GM style sensibilities. The angled, non rounded back screams mid 1980s and the Chincy rubber strip on the rear bumper screams ‘premium upgrade’. OK, I’m going with “Professor Plum, with the candlestick, in the Study” Oooops, wrong game. This crime scene is a 1986 Buick Rivie by GM.
It’s not only a ’86 Riv, it’s the same one pictured in the preceeding article re: GMs first deadly sin. It’s just zoomed in, note the grass and tree trunk behind the bumper in both pictures……Duh
Fourth Generation Malibu Station Wagon?
I don’t know the model, but it looks like it is from GM.
Definitely a mid-80’s GM product.

A mid-80s Olds 88 or 98.
Looks PT-Cuiser-ish
Eldo?
Olds Omega?
Damn; those GM products from that vintage all look the same, don’t they? Keep trying.
1986-88 Buick Riviera
That ain’t no “classic”…looks like a ’86-89 Buick Riviera…There were many classic ‘Rivs’, but that was not one of them.

Two back-to-back winners!! 1986 Riviera FTW!
Hey, it’s my definition of “classic” (historical significance). Stay tuned.
I haven’t been able to find an exact match online to know for sure, but I’m guessing it is an Olds Cutlass Calais.
Yup…I completely forgot about those Riverias. I see a Reatta everyday and that’s what was in my mind.
Come on Hugh, you can’t be using the Google now!
I was gonna guess 86 Park Avenue…..
Missed it by THAT much!

That is from the 1985 Riveria.
It is from the same photo from the Riveria post.
