The messed up thing is that people who don’t read auto-industry blogs think that GMC and Chevy vehicles aren’t exactly the same beyond price and emblem.

Your correct in regards to some previous models but these 2 are much more different than just emblems.
This isn’t a case where GM is asking 1800 bucks for an emblem. Move along nothing to see here.
Supposedly the GMC has a nicer interior…whether it’s $1,800 nicer is a matter of debate.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the GMC version is offered with a cash rebate of, oh, say $1,500 or so more than the Chevy version, making the price difference a prime example of brand masturbation.
I haven’t input the Terrain into TrueDelta’s pricing database yet, but based on other models I’ll venture that the GMC has at least $1,500 of additional standard content. Equip them the same and the price difference will be minimal.

FWIW, they do look very different. The GMC is far uglier.
If you’re a GM exec, nothing.
Especially if you believe that the buyers are too stupid to notice.
All those blocky corners require more sheetmetal… $1800 worth to be exact.
Hey, its really, really nice steel. Like Ginsu knife good.
One looks like a Land Rover. :D I like them both.
The GMC version has slightly larger chrome door handles.
GMC is “professional grade” DUH! Professional costs more.

$1800 is amateur hour.
What was the price gap in today dollars on the J body between a Cavalier and a Cimarron?

They ARE different. See? One has round fender flares and the others are square.
Wouldn’t the more upright C pillars (and differently shaped rear doors) be a fairly expensive change?
They ARE different. See? One has round fender flares and the others are square.…
And as Huey Lewis said, its Hip to be Square!
Count the zerks.
The two don’t share any sheetmetal, so there’s a portion of the cost. There will also be standard equipment on the GMC that is optional on the Chevy.
