Anything with a question mark after it is a best guess.

    1. I thought Maj. Nelson had a Catalina, but I do remember it was a Pontiac, so I’ll go with the GTO.
    2. 75 Gran Torino. The 74 looks more like the one Clint Eastwood drove in the movie Gran Torino
    3. Never seen that show.
    4. Mustang
    5. Sunbeam
    6. Jeep

There was a car in “I Dream of Jeanie?” There was a Major Nelson? Sorry, I must have been focusing on something else during the show.

Hey! You skipped Steve McGarrett’s black beauty in Hawaii Five-O!

  • avatar
    Dimwit

Mannix drove a 70½ Dodge Challenger convertible.

Being a foreigner, I haven’t a clue on most of these either because I wouldn’t know one American car from another, or never watched the show, but here’s what I do know:

    5. Sunbeam Tiger. Officially Max drove a Tiger. Alpines were used as stunt doubles. Also drove a VW Karmann-Ghia and Opel GT.

    12. Peugeot 403

    17. The Equalizer drove a Jaguar, so I expect that’s the answer. Never watched Who’s the Boss. Don’t recall Alex Keaton being into cars.

    24. Mach 5

32 Volvo P1800. A Jaguar XJ-S was used in the Return of the Saint.

In the early years he had:
    69 Firebird 400 conv
    66 GTO
    67 GTO
70 Catalina all the cars were convert.

The most interesting car was what Maj.Healy drove in real life. I know Bill Daly, and he drove for years a 68 Shelby GT 500 KR that he would never sell me. He probably still has it.

#3: In Season 2 of Entourage, Eric traded up from a Honda Prelude, but you’ve mistaken it for an Accord.

Fun quiz, but seriously needs work. What exactly is an Audi 3000? Magnum’s backup car was an Audi 5000, most notably with a manual transmission.

And when every answer is wrong as with Maxwell Smart’s ride (a Sunbeam Tiger, not an Alpine, later a Karmann-Ghia and an Opel GT), it’s rather disheartening.

Richie Cunningham’s car was a 1952 Ford Convertible, started out one episode as a hot rod, painted blue to please the folks, had its license plate reworked by Fonzie to keep the cops away and painted red again. He had the clunker with the Nash seat (not actually a Nash) for one episode, but the Ford lasted longer.

And Mannix drove the custom Toronado for one season. Subsequent cars were the latest hot Mopar, Dart GT’s, Challengers, ‘Cudas, etc, preferably a convertible.

On the Magnum PI question, the car was an Audi 5000…fun quiz tho. I think there was another error too, but now I can’t think of it.

    1. The GTO
    2. 75 Gran Torino. The stripe was the only interesting thing about it.
    3. 57 T-Bird
    4. I’ll go with the Camaro. I only remember Larry White with a 65 Impala convert, but he wasn’t a corvette guy and it was a Chevy show.
    5. I thought it was a Sunbeam Tiger.
    6. The CJ
    7. No idea
    8. I just remember the Mopars. If I had to guess, I would guess they went to Chevy.
    9. It was either the Nomad or El Camino.
    10. Vista Cruiser
    11. It was the 1957 Lincoln Futura heavily customized by George Barris.
    12. I always wondered what that thing was.
    13. Firebird.
    14. Do I get a lifeline?
    15. Phone a friend?
    16. The Orange Pinto, Regis.
    17. Jag
    18. A white Mustang
    19. Tougher. I think it was the Monte
    20. I thought one of the brothers had a Dodge pickup.
    21. No idea
    22. My guess is the Dart
    23. I think it was the BMW
    24. I’m lost.
    25. I’m proud to say that I never watched that show.
    26. It was the Porter! Which I don’t believe really existed. I watched that show every week (but I was about 6 or 7)
    27. Neeeext
    28. Pass again
    29. Mannix drove a series of Mopars. I remember a Dart GT convert, and later a challenger.
    30. Beats me
    31. Nash – because the seats folded into a bed. But he bought a Ford convertible.
    32. The Volvo (but I’m guessing)
    33. I’m stumped. For 34 too.
    35. Had to be a 289. None of the others were out yet.
    36. And I’m out.

@ walksatnight – I’m with you on 5-0. That big black 68 Mercury was a favorite of mine. And do you remember Frank Cannon’s silver Mark III with the phone? Or the Green Hornet’s Imperial.

  • avatar
    walksatnight

jp – I indeed remember both the Green Hornet and Cannon’s rides. To me the tire squealing, Park Lane was always king.

The good news is that she still exists:

The guy worked like a demon just to obtain possesion of the vehicle but he was successful.

I watched I Dream of Jeannie at the dawning of my adolescence and I have to say, it wasn’t the cars I was thinking about.

Nobody seems to remember that Maxwell Smart drove a VW Karmann Ghia during the early run of the series before switching to the Sunbeam.

I know one show I watched as a kid featured a 72 Cuda convertible (specially contructed for the show, obviously). Can’t remember which one…

Have you considered actually putting this in a format where you select the answers with checkboxes or something? Most of the fun is lost when you realize you’re going to have to either print it out or scroll up and back and up and back and up…and then you realize that since it’s just in the comments, there’s never going to be an aggregate result posted with the correct answers and the percentage that guessed what or what not.
